I know many DJ friends and they know their job is to play to the needs of the crowd, the timing as they come in and timing of certain music as they want them to get out of the club, etc. So they are somewhat limited to what they really can play so they dont always get to really play what they want.

Mark Farina was probably just too mellow for MDC. They wanted hard drops and all that based on what they hear lately. Marquee should have known that and booked accordingly. Maybe a weekday MDC he would have been better match?, but not on Saturday.
There must have been some really heavy-hitters in the bottle service crowd to get a name-brand DJ booted out. I highly doubt they remove the DJ based on complaints from an average Joe bottle service patron.
Theoretical question... Another cabana is dropping the same amount of money and says if he goes they go. What happens then? lol

sounds like the only winner is the club.

I didn't know this is possible. But, I totally agree with Marquee's decision from the business aspect. Now, if they headlined him as 'In Concert' or 'On Tour' then it would be a different story...

So if the chongos dropping 50K want to hear classic rock the club should just throw the DJ off the decks and turn on the radio? This is a joke and will hurt the Marquees ability to bring in talent. Such a poser attitude to bow down to a few high rollers and embarrass the club, DJ and the people that were there to enjoy his set.

Maybe he decided to leave on his own when someone from the club relayed a requesr from the $50k boys for a Katy Perry mashup.

small blip in Marquee's rep but will not hurt them in the long run. They will still have the place jammed pack every weekend this summer.

Money talks. Tough situation for Marquee (IMO). Would you rather piss off the 50K client who may frequent your establishment mutiple times per year, or piss off a famous DJ??

It's a bit of a slippery slope for Marquee. Other big-time spenders may hear about this and request the same treatment from Marquee next time they drop a lot of money on bottles and the DJ isn't spinning what they want to hear.

According to his Twitter, he never even started playing. He was told 15 minutes before his set. The complaints were about the house music being played by the opening DJ's. He's also booked to play at Boulevard Pool this Thursday. Weird situation.

Reading the article they say Deadmau5 played Bon Jovi for 100 grand? That is awesome that somebody threw 100k to a hear living on a prayer. That is F you money there. I would have picked a different song, but it is a good story.

Is that true? Deadmau5 is such a joke. Can't stand all the hypocritical BS that comes out of his mouth. Cracked me up when he came out looking like a fool after what he said about Madonna
