Definitely a different type of "house music" in Vegas than in Europe or some parties in Miami, but they usually do a good job of selecting music that promotes a party atmosophere

Haha. That's crazy. Didn't Jazzy Jeff get booted a couple years ago for playing too much hip hop and not enough dance music?

really dont understand why these clubs hired all these EDM acts this weekend when EVERYONE will be at EDC at that time.

He deleted it but also tweeted this:
No offence intended to Tryst, great club + staff but i don't know why i was invited there...! The people hated me!

                And this:
I think all the dance music fans were at EDC!

Hahaha had to be the crowd because he had EBC poppin earlier in the day

from what i have been reading from the resident dj;s from Tryst. Pretty much alot of guests of the pool party around him were heckling him alot to play hip hop and he said forget it, i'm getting off the decks, and thats what he did.

i guess had to be that bad to actually get off the decks. I mean a few requests for hip hop here and there he gets it, it happens, but to actually say fuck dis shit. im getting off. and calvin harris is commercial as they come.. he must have had to drop we found love at least 2 times and still got heckled. lol.

Such a poser attitude to bow down to a few high rollers and embarrass the club, DJ and the people that were there to enjoy his set.
I agree... also what about all the other people that dropped big coin to see these DJ's?
Like what would Marquee do for me if I dropped $10k to see Mark Farina and then they kicked him out? Are they gonna lower my min. now since I'm no longer getting what I paid for?
The people dropping $50k were getting exactly what they paid for but since they didnt bother to find out what kind of music Mark plays then hundreds of other people dont get what they paid for?

DJ's need to realize the majority of people at a pool party are not there for a concert. They are there to party at a pool and watch beautiful people. The DJ is being paid to entertain who is there, not to play a concert set.... difficult position for some DJ's but all musicians need to pick the gigs they want to play... and if they play a gig they should play what is expected.

Clubs are in a tough spot because they like to promote big name DJ's but don't actually need them once the majority of people are in the door...

See the thing with alot of EDM DJs is they specialize in that type of music. So thats what will be in their playlist. A reg non-producing DJ plays to the crowd and not a specific genre. I think thats what those people were expecting. I have DJ friends from socal to DC. Some are hip hop and some are house. As much as they would like to play whatever they want, there's an art to playing what at what time and certain venues. So a DJ is still limited on what they really can play. You're playing to what the crowd wants to hear throughout the day. Something to bring them in at the beginning with some popular tracks and as it goes on later in the day, something more abstract or mellow to get them leaving.

It sucks that those people come into a dayclub not knowing thats the type that is played there. Personally, I think it should have been handled or said differently than being "booted". It just makes it look bad. Should have told those patrons that they play a mix of genres and his set would be done and changed to hip hop after awhile.

I couldnt disagree with this enough. DJs are booked and the people are attending the club because of who is DJ'ing. Therefore they should have an understanding of what the DJ is expected to play. This 'throwing money about' to play a certain genre of music is utter bullshit and most DJ's would walk off in this scenario. It is Vegas right enough, but in Ibiza, where the DJs obviously have a lot more respect, this would never happen.

It seems like EDM is being force fed in Vegas. Not everyone in Vegas is into EDM. People come to party but not to see a specific dj.

There's not as much Dayclubs as nightclubs, so I would think a DJ that would fit to all crowds may work better. But at the same time, thats the choice of the patron if they want to be there or not knowing the certain DJ will be there.
