  • Why don't the GU DJs Play Vegas?

I'm sure they have before but I never see Sasha, Howell's, Pappa, Burridge (who is "tha bomb"), Seaman etc play Vegas.

Are they too expensive? I know they must play the west coast, right? What's the story? They are my personal favorites.

Burridge in Mexico for the BPM festival a few weeks ago was one of the top 3 sets I've heard, ever.

I have no clue who they are but I doubt it's "too expensive" though.

Definitely isn't a matter of money.

Artists are booked based on the anticipated demand of the party, and the relationships their agents have with the booking managers at the nightclub groups.

I'm sure we will see them play soon enough...

I would love to see the likes of Sasha, John Digweed, Richie Hawtin, Eric Prydz and Hernan Catteneo play a pool party in Vegas but I dont think progressive house is as popular as the more commercial artists like Deadmau5, Afrojack and Chuckie, more chance of seeing those guys at Ultra in Miami I suppose .

Eric Prydz has also spun here, like they have said above the people don't want them which I also do not like i'd like to see some more tech-house dj's myself I have to head over to Drais afterhours for that.

I suppose I meant too expensive to take a gamble on demand-wise. If I were a new club or maybe a Tier 2 club I think that'd be an interesting niche to try to fill or a way to make the leap up the ladder.

(And btw, I have no idea why I put the apostraphe in Danny Howells name. )

Eh, make it "commercially successful" and I can see it. He's a big name that even people who don't generally care much about DJs or dance music have a decent chance of having heard of, much like Tiësto or Guetta.

Deadmau5 is really mainstream... well over here in Canada he is.

I don't think those DJs you mentioned are a big enough draw to the average club goer (who in Vegas can span from 21 to milf.... even gilf!

From what I've seen... get big on the radio and the Vegas shows will come.

I for one would love to see Sasha do a set in Vegas - but it'd probably have to be at a place other than Marquee or XS. Perhaps Surrender, perhaps Tryst... maybe the new spot Climaxx.

Actually, the best venue for a set like that would be at Rain.

Lol most of the EDM that is currently played/popular in Vegas (which I would say is a good representation of the US scene in general) is a good mix between electro and progressive. Progressive not popular? Tell me... how would you classify SHM, Avicii, and Kaskade?

GU as a label has always been more under the radar and to me, they are just more oldschool, from when EDM/raves were really still in the underground.

And deadmau5 is definitely one of the mainstream figureheads (MTV VMAs anyone?)
