  • A Cancelled Flight, Counterfeit Limos, and a Brazilian Girl with an EXCELLENT memory.

Hello all! I'm a n00b here, as you can see (it would have been VERY nice to have known about this website before my trip to Vegas last year!), so I figured I'd make my first post a good one with a TR from our trip to Vegas during Labor Day Weekend of last year.

    Characters:
Myself: 26 year old wellsite geologist in the oil & gas industry. Lafayette, LA.
Brother Love (BL): Best friend I've known for 10+ years, 26 year old Staff Sergeant in the Air Force (appreciate your service, my man), Seattle, WA.
Congressman G (CG--will get into why I gave him that nickname later on)- Friend of BL that I've never met from Seattle, WA.

Disclaimer: I was solo until Friday afternoon. It would have been almost $450 cheaper for me to fly out on Thursday instead of Friday, so I figured I'd do the first night solo and save a bit of dough, while getting a "scouting report" of things to come.

    Thursday

Thursday morning comes rolling around. I hear my alarm go off at about 10 AM. I have my morning smoke, hop in the shower, get dressed, get a few things in order, do some last minute packing, and leave at around noon to make the hour trip to Baton Rouge Regional Airport. I'm antsy and pretty much dancing around in my seat the entire way over there. I was excited to experience Vegas again, but on a different note. I went the year before with my now-ex, and it's NOT worthy of a TR. I'll leave it at that..lol. Secondly, my best friend got leave from the Air Force and I was very stoked to see him, as I only get to see him about once a year, and we've been planning this trip for the past 6 months, so my anticipation levels were off the charts.

I arrive at the airport, check my bags, go through security, blah blah blah. I get to the terminal and all I can do is stare in amazement at my plane tickets. I couldn't believe what was about to go down. My ticket to the greatest weekend of my life.

After a 2 hour layover, and a 2 hour flight, during which I had the great pleasure of listening to Tenishia and her friend talk about how "dey gone break Vegas fa all dat dey worth and come back to da H BIG TIME BALLIN!", I finally made it!

I grab my luggage and hop on a shuttle that will take me to Bally's. Not the most glamorous hotel on the Strip, but I stayed there for my previous trip and honestly, I liked it. Fun atmosphere, very nice staff, and the rooms are VERY spacious. Plus, for $21/night using my Total Rewards Card, how could I say no? On the shuttle ride there, I realize how small the world is. The guy sitting across from me on the way there recognizes me, and come to find out, we've both played poker against each other at a casino resort about an hour away from where we live. Like I said, small, small world. We shot the shit on the way to our respective hotels, talked about our poker game, all that good stuff. We go our separate ways and I go check in. I had heard of the 'sandwich' before arriving, but didn't really want to try it as I was only gonna be there for one night, and as soon as I got my room key, I was just gonna shower, change, and see what kind of trouble I can get myself into. Much to my surprise, though, with a little bit of flirting, sweet talking, and the fact that she admired my "thick Southern accent", the check-in clerk gave me a room with a view of the Strip! Here's a pic of the room, no pic of the view though..

As I'm walking up to my room, I see a sign for Drai's Afterhours. I've heard a lot of good things about this place from my fellow music heads before arriving, so I added that to my bucket list of things to do for later on. After getting settled in, showering, and changing, I decide to go try my luck at blackjack. Bought in for $100, walked away with $325. Would have been more had the table not turned cold, along with me not being greedy, but hell, I still came out ahead. Not a bad way to start my trip! After that, I walk around for a bit, people watch (which was rather lame), and decide to head over to Wynn for the Manufactured Superstars at Tryst. They're a bit too commercial for my tastes, but from what I was told, they play a fun show and attract LOTS of gorgeous girls.

I cab it over there, and I've gotta say...the decor and casino itself are beautiful, however, the attitudes of the dealers I can live without. I got the whole vibe of "you should be happy and feel privileged that I'm dealing to you". Not a big fan of the snobby crap, but anywho. I got lost for about an hour or so just walking around. It's clearly obvious that this place caters to those who've got a shit ton of money to blow. I walked by one craps table and saw a guy betting $500 on each number (still learning craps, so I'm not quite sure on the "terminology"). From what I can tell, he actually looked bored. I'm thinking to myself "hell, if you're that bored, give some to me and I'll gladly have fun with it".

At about 10 PM, I decide to head over to Tryst. The doors haven't even opened yet and there's already a line about a mile long. What a great night this is gonna be! Gorgeous women all over the place and good vibes from those looking to let loose as well. As I'm waiting in line, I get a text from a friend in Denver, saying "Hey man! I saw you checked in at the Wynn on Facebook! You should head over to Tryst and go see the Manufactured Superstars tonight. I'm good friends with Shawn Sabo (1/2 of the Manufactured Superstars) so I can get you guestlisted." Well, that would have been nice to know before I bought a pre-sale ticket online..but that's ok, I still love ya buddy.

After waiting about 20 minutes or so, I start to grow impatient. I see a bouncer walk by and discreetly show him a $20 bill, and ask him if "there's anyway to jump the line". His response? "I'm sorry sir, but I could potentially lose my job for doing that". No worries, I understand. Not worth losing a job over $20. With a good buzz kicking in, I decide to strike up a conversation with a couple standing behind me. They're both from Orange County, CA. The guy is in Vegas for some kind of lawyers convention that weekend, the girl is originally from Korea but moved to the States about 10 years ago. They'd ask me why I'm by myself, so I explained to them that me and my 2 friends are flying in from different cities, and it would have been a lot cheaper for me to fly out a day early. They invited me to hang out with them for a bit, and they seemed like cool people so I took them up on it.

Eventually, the 3 of us make our way in. The wait was well worth it, as the club itself was SICK. Excellent sound system, good decor, had the very intimate feel to it. On top of that, the club's staff was very professional, from the bouncers, to the bartenders, all the way down to the bathroom attendant. Tryst will always get my business anytime I'm in Vegas. I've gotta hand it to their resident DJ, he was very versatile. Opened things up with some groovy tech-house, made a smooth transition over to mash-ups, big room EDM, and then over to old school hip hop, while keeping the dance floor rocking at all times. My hats off to you, sir. Love being taken on a musical journey that has LOTS of twists and turns, and being a DJ myself, I appreciate what openers do as it's one of the most important roles of making a night go smoothly that often gets overlooked by many.

Me and my new found friends make our way to the bar to order a round of drinks. That's when culture shock sets in. $11 for a Corona with a lime. Yikes! The blackjack tables at Bally's gladly took care of most my drinks for that night though, so it's all good. We end up heading outside and sitting at a table that a waitress said we could sit at until/if it gets sold, so we sit there and chat for about an hour or so. Out of the corner of my eye, I see these 2 gorgeous girls walking our way, one of them is staring right at me. Snap. They walk up, and say "Hey! We remember you! You sat right behind us on our flight from Houston!". Turns out they're both from Toronto, and are in town for LDW. One girls name is C, and the other one is K. Absolute bombshells, with sweet personalities to match it (or so I thought at first, will get into it later on). We all chat, get a round of shots from the waitress walking by, and decide to make our way to the dance floor. On our way there, I ask C if I can get her number just in case we get separated, and, ironically enough, I lost them not long after, so it's just me and the couple from Cali now.

At this point, the DJ made his transition into old school rap/hip-hop (again, IMPRESSIVE), so we're all on the dance floor just grooving out. The guy tells me "Hey, I've gotta run to the restroom, watch after my wifey, will ya?". Uhhh..Sure, no problem..not quite sure why you'd leave your wife with a complete stranger, but ok. As he walks away, the wife starts dancing with me. We're just dancing along (in a friendly way, of course) when she grabs me by the back of my head, pulls me down, and says "do you wanna fuck me while my husband watches?!" Surely, I thought she was just joking, so I start chuckling when she says "No, I'm being dead serious! He's cool with it!". At this point, I'm in a state of WTF. Surely, this is how some horror movies have started. Or porn movies. Or how people end up on Unsolved Mysteries. I'm confused as all hell and not really sure what to think. The husband walks back up and says "So are you gonna take us up on this?".

    To be continued.....

I must inform you that official TR format requires the report to be in complete "day units" as this 1st submission ceases its action upon yonder cliff prior to the completion of said day - please continue immediately!

I think the DJ just dropped the mic and walked out. lol

Would be hilarious if the TR just ends there and never gets updated.

Maybe we should all take over where he left off. Everyone add 2 lines and see where this goes.
"So I banging this guys wife while he goes to Earl of Sandhwich to get us a bite to eat. He comes back with a big bag of coke, 3 circus clowns, a bottle of Fireball and a leather helmet with handlebars...."
