            • 5/1/14:

I'll try to remember the rest of this as best i can! Lol.

For the first time in what i realize has been 8 days i wake up absolutely WRECKED. I DO NOT get hangovers (there are different types of alcoholism i have recently learned, so even though i can go months with out a drink, rarely do i not drink a ton when i do drink so...). All this to say that even though i had no headache etc. all the shit that typically indicate a hangover my body literally was beginning to shut down i think. After having taken a look at my bill from the previous night i begin to understand why. For a night at ghost bar i have spent a TRULY impressive amount considering that bottle service there is not even that expensive (comparatively speaking), also i found several business cards of the hosts from that evening stuffed in my pockets so someone was excited i guess. Anyway. I call up my little cousin "D" and ask him what the fuck happened with him and the "real dancer" and he basically warns me that i shouldn't touch the couch in my room for the next few days, also i am told i should have the stainless steel counter tops of the kitchens cleaned thoroughly (he was being considerate by not touching the bed he says smfh.)

I lay in the room with balcony windows opened for what seems like days but in reality was probably like an our or two, and while working out is out of the question i regain control of my body. I am serious I have never woke up as badly damaged as i did that morning. Which makes me worried that somehow i was an ass hole to Miss Iowa the previous evening and don't remember it. Even though i vaguely recall a great evening alcohol can skew perspective greatly. Perhaps, i was thinking that i was immensely charming when i fact i took a shit on the ghost bar balcony... just saying stranger things have happened in my life. After texting back and forth i am assured that no i was in fact just fine and Miss Iowa had a great time. In fact, she was playing a private affair over at the Wynn (she is a violinist) for some political fundraiser thing and would i like to come? Not exactly the way i expected to spend the evening but when in doubt in Vegas just go with the flow... the catch being it was black tie. Okay i have a black suit so i'm good! Nope need a tux. Like black tie black tie. Hmmm.

Okay now i'm seriously tempted to say fuck it but curiosity definitely wins out. From what she is telling me its probably the most fancy event i'll ever attend in Vegas and that's intriguing enough for me. Okay. Well now i need a tuxedo. Luckily i'm in Vegas so no shortage of options. I can't do a penguin suit type of tuxedo (that shit is for the birds), also i'm not wearing rented clothes Ever and seeing as how a tux is something i feel like every man should own i figure fuck it and go all out. I head over to Tom Ford and get fitted for one as they assure me they can have it ready by the evening. Also their Tux' don't look like Tux' which is key for me. I'm not going to lie i went over there in what amounts to my pajamas (basketball shorts and a white tee) and a pair of Jordans and to their credit they were nothing but professional which i appreciated a great deal.

That done i just have to wait for the evening. NEVER underestimate the lengths a man will go through for an attractive woman who he actually likes i guess! LOL.

                2. There is still more to come

I feel like the guy who won the lottery, and then won it again. Marc, you hyped me up for my trip last summer, and now you're doing it again, right on schedule. Looking forward to the last chapters of your trip, I have another 30days to bust thru before I smell McCarran.

                  • 5/1/14 Continued:

After basically doing nothing the entire day (something that i didn't even regret my body was so jacked up at this point). It was time to start getting ready to head over to the Wynn. My non Tux, Tuxedo was everything you would expect for a Tom Ford and i was happy that i didn't look like i was going to the opera. I would be meeting Miss Iowa over there as she would be over there practicing etc. So i made my way over to the Wynn and immediately felt out of my element once i tried to find the suite where the event would be being held. I have been to and stayed at the Wynn several times but must admit i had never been to THAT part of the hotel. I simply followed the WELL dressed people who were making their way towards a particular elevator.

The event was being held in one of the 3 bedroom Duplex apartments at the Wynn, now i had heard stories about and seen pics of the place from previous clients that i had done business with so had some idea what to expect. However, once i actually got inside and especially the way things were set up in terms of decorations and with an orchestra and ice sculpture and whatnot (no bullshit ice sculptures smh) well lets just say i felt like i had fell down a fucking rabbit hole. I wondered if i would even be let in but thankfully my name had been added to the list and all was well. There was a shit load of security.

I had been told to bring my checkbook (ALWAYS carry a checkbook in Vegas, just trust me), and while i was offended (cause fuck you i'm not giving money to anybody if i don't agree with the cause) it turns out it wasn't so much a political fund raiser as a fundraiser for Dikembe Mutumbo's (the ex NBA player's) charity. I can get on board with that cause he seems like a good dude and half of my family is from some part of Africa or another anyway. Needless to say the room was filled with some impressive types and since i WAS among them obviously I MUST be impressive too (or so people though i guess). Made my way over to Miss Iowa and got the seal of approval for my Tux and am told i "clean up well" she looks amazing in a simple black dress and some jewels that if they were real (looked like it) were quite impressive in their own right. She says she has to play for another hour or so, so i mingle and have conversations with folks (including Mutumbo). Quick side note: Dikembe Mutumbo is EXTREMELY tall, of course if you know who he is you KNOW that already, but it can NOT be overstated how TALL he is, I am not short. Dikembe Mutumbo is TALL (also he sounds just like the cookie monster). We actually talked for quite awhile once he found out some of my family was from the same region as he was and that i had played basketball for a few years. To make it rather more surreal in the middle of our conversation Stevie Wynn (i am not making ANY of this up i swear to fucking god) comes over and says hello and asks what team i currently am playing for? Uhhh none at the moment is all i can manage (wish i had something more clever). Quick tangent: Steve Wynn is just glorious. He just LOOKS rich and also looks like he is going to sell you a used BMW all in one image. Just my impression...

During this whole thing Miss Iowa is steady at it playing the Violin and it occurs to me that she is REALLY good at it. I am always impressed by people who are exceptionally talented or good at something (could be music, gambling, art, twerking, really doesn't matter). Growing up i played basketball, BUT there were people who i knew since i was 9 years old or so who you just KNEW if they didn't fuck it up would be in the NBA (and some of them did make it), so watching her do her thing i am struck once again that you can recognize something special as soon as you see it/hear it whatever. All that to say that i am EVEN more attracted to her now! I make it a point to be on my best behavior this night (I drink and nothing but TOP shelf, but i am more cognizant than ever of how much i take in) and the night seems to fly by. Me and Miss Iowa become more acquainted as the evening goes on and all is well. I did indeed end up writing a check for the foundation and felt no remorse about that at all. I'm sure it wasn't as much as what some of the people in that room ended up giving but fuck it that's not the point at all...

As the evening draws to a close i am invited back to Miss Iowa's room over at the encore, and after several days of build up... (well not much talking was done and i think that is how the evening should have ended). I had to get up pretty early the next day, so i slipped out late night with the promise to keep in touch (which i did and still do, will see her again next month actually). Perhaps the most surreal part of the evening i find myself doing the stride of pride to the cab stand in a absolutely disheveled Tom Ford Tux with the biggest grin on my face!

Fucking Vegas! SMDH at the memory.

EastCoast: "I will preach. Vegas is easy. So easy. Either be rich or good looking (or mooch off someone who is one of those). If you are neither, then sit back, let the rich and/or good looking people sort their shit out, and then take their scraps. Booking early is not going to get you ahead of the rich and/or good looking people. Sucks unless you are rich or good looking. But that's what makes Vegas so great. It is completely transparent."
