  • Long time visitor - first time trip report

I've always been a fan of these but never have done one before despite going to Vegas several times a year. Here is my first shot at it. This trip was the first full week of April. It is a business trip but I will keep the business end out of it expect when it involves free drinks or clubs.

    The cast:
Me, early 30s single white male in fairly good shape. I look younger. Young at heart at the very least. I'm here solo but end up meeting people from this forum like I do all the time.

    Friday night.
I got in really late. Landed at 10:30pm. First stop is "The Library" Liquor store at the airport. The prices aren't any different than the places on the strip and I'm always excited to get going fast so this is my first stop if I didn't check a bag and pack my own. Just grab a big bottle of vodka and some mixers. I head out to grab a taxi. The line is crazy...at least 15 minutes or more. I yell out to people at the front of the line "anyone going to Aria, Vdara or Monte Carlo want to split a cab?" Some old couple in their 60s smile and wave at me. "We are!" I wave back and duck under and through the triple bent around line to get up to them. Doug and Mary introduce themselves. They are the tits. Turns out they were drinking the entire plane ride out of aspirin bottles they filled with rum. They told me TSA never checks what old people actually have in an aspirin bottle so they fill a few with booze and drink it up on the plane. My kind of people. We are fast friends.

I pay for the cab ride out of appreciation for letting me ride with them. They grab my phone number and say they will meet up with me later in the weekend to buy me some drinks for the cab ride. I rarely turn down free drinks and these guys were fun despite being double my age. I check in at Monte Carlo quickly thanks to being able to get in a fast lane with my mlife card (one of the few perks of the upper tiers that actually does something useful for me).

Since I knew it would be after midnight by the time I changed and got dressed I really didn't make any firm plans. I txt'd Chris whom I meet on this forum last spring on a previous trip since I knew he was in town. He said he was all the way over at M-Bay at one of their hotel bars but he was heading to bed soon, so I bid him a good night and decided to head into the Gold Lounge with this 2 for 1 drink ticket that somehow appeared in my hand while was concentrating on my texting. Gold was really chill. I grabbed a drink and the bar tender was nice enough to hold by free one on my tab til I was ready for it. Started talking to a big group of Canadians. Our friends from the North are always very good people and fun company. I talked with them for a while about Wolverines and Maple donut and other northern topics til my drinks were gone. They said they were all going to Haze and said I should come along. "What the hell, got nothing better to do." I was kinda late by now but Haze was still packed due to Nelly being there (I think it was anyway, he was done by the time we got there). The crowd was starting to die down so it didn't take long to get in. I didn't pay. I'm not sure if someone in the group paid for me or if they let us in for free. Had a good time inside. Drank some more. Danced with a few of the Canadian girls in a good, drunkin way. I ran out of gas pretty quickly though and decided to call it a night around 4:30ish. Gave a few my new friends my number in case they wanted to meet up later.

    Saturday.
Slept in and got up around noon. I went to the gym, then hit up the hot tub. Around 4 I went over to Aria to play some poker. Aria poker room is my favorite place to play. The game is already friendly. I play low stakes (1-3) but usually do well. Had diner from Lemon Grass at the table. Walked away around 6:30 up $160 and 4 Vodka/Sugar Free Red Bulls. Headed over to the Fashion mall real quickly to get a hair cut at Regis. $38 later I had a stylish new cut and headed back to my room to shower and change. Around 9:30 I headed out the door to the Mirage. Joey Orr had set me up with a deal at 1Oak. Texted the guys from the forum I was sharing with. We were meeting up at "Lobby Bar" in the Mirage lobby. Joey had originally gotten us a b2g1 deal when he had a bigger group but a few people bailed on us so it was just four guys so he got us a b1g1. Very nice of him and one of the reasons I have used him several times for BS. Met the other guys at Lobby bar. Two guys were in their early 40s and knew each other already. It was their first time hitting up the Vegas night life, they had two women with them that they knew from somewhere (I don't recalled exactly where but they were warm and funny. I was fine with them coming along). The other guy was in town solo for his 25th birthday. We had a good age range but got along really well from the start. We met Joey at 10:45 and he got us right in. The table was in a lot nicer location than I expected for a b1g1 deal. It was in the main area just to the right of the DJ booth toward the middle. We paid the bill up front in cash and got two bottles of Skyy. All-in with a tip for Joey came to about $200 a guy. Can't get a much better deal anywhere in town on a Saturday night.

By the time we got our bottles things started to pick up and get busy. As I was pouring a drink, my head turned to see hot woman after woman walk by me to the table next to us. Said a little thank you under my breath and played it cool, ignoring them and talking to my new friends at the table. The bouncer whom we had tipped brought us some girls but they were lame has hell. Wouldn't even talk, just fu--ing sat there so I ask him to remove them. About this time some of the hotties from the table next to us got up on platforms and started dancing on the poles. The bouncer quickly came over, said something to them and they quickly got down. I figure now was a good time to introduce myself. I made some charming joke about being disappointed they had to get down. Cute blonde said they were asked to get down because they didn't have their shoes on but could go back up later if they left their shoes on. I decided to work quick and asked if any of them were single. Me and my buddies were looking to have a good time. She said no, all 13 of them were here for the weekend from Orange County on a their last bachelorette party. The 13th one was getting married. But she smiled, put her hand on my arm and said they were there to have a good time and they would help us hook up with some girls. I exclaimed how I didn't believe how all of them could be married and how great they all looked yada yada yada but it was the truth and they ate it up. Many of them reportedly had kids but none of them in the bunch were worse than a 6. After flirting with cute blonde and her friends for a while she pulled out her phone to show me a picture of her husband and kids but somehow accidentally flipped to, dwelled on and zoomed in on photos of what had happened earlier that night in their suite at the Cosmo. There were pictures of some of them topless spanking each other and all kinds of other crazy stuff. I don't think they were gay... just goofing around while drunk to take pics to show off. I enjoyed them very much. Anyway, not to go into too many details but we all had really good time. Many things that I'm sure they weren't going to tell their husbands about. Everything was going great until I had to use the rest room. I came back and they were all gone. I thought it was really odd that they just left but the people in the next table said they got moved to a new table and pointed them out. I headed over to go rejoin the fun. They were at a table right above the dance floor. They waved to me and motioned me to come in. That is when I hit a wall known as a giant bouncer. I tried to explain to him that they wanted to me to come in and he wouldn't even make eye contact. Just said "ladies table only." The woman came over to tell him it was okay to let me in but he would budge or even acknowledge they were talking to him. I'm not sure what kind of BS power trip that is or what business purpose it serves if it is a policy but it really pissed me off. I had plenty to drink at this point and just decided to leave it go because let's face it. It is a battle I'm not winning. Only outcome is getting kicked. So I go to see what else was happening out on the dance floor. Who knows what would have been had I been able to hang out with those ladies the rest of the night. I'm guessing nothing. They likely had a line they weren't going to cross but I can dream, can't I?

Anyway the rest of the night was pretty uneventful. The women out on the dance floor were lame. One cute one was dancing with me but she was so drunk she started annoying me because kept wanting to talk but wasn't making sense. Just sloppy. I'm not that kind of guy that takes advantage of woman so I just decided to call it a night and walked out rather angry. They next day though I realized it was still a really fun night even if it didn't end on a high note.

Anyway, enough for now. I can continue if anyone wants to hear more. Had some good and bad days ahead.

Okay I will post these in pieces. I was there for a whole week.

              Sunday.
I work up feeling pretty good having downed an giant bottle of Pedialyte before going to bed. Grabbed some lunch and went to a few meetings I had set up, not going to go into details. Got back around 7pm and decided to have some sushi at Lucky Buddah at Monte Carlo because they have half off rolls sunday night. Good sushi for the price. After I took a shower and headed over to Pure because I was invited to a party there by RED Digital. I hadn't been to Pure in years but its hard to turn down free entry and 2 hours of all you can drink for free. As I suspected, it wasn't open to the public yet and it was about 10 guys to every woman at the party. But they had the dance floor open and most of the women that were there were out on the dance floor so I pounded a few free manhattans and headed out. One woman in particular caught my eye. She wasn't your typical club woman, dressed in a skirt suit with nerdy glasses. There was something really sexy about her though. We talked for a long time until they announced they were closing the dance floor and sending everyone upstairs, outside. She said she had to get up early so we was heading out but asked if we could maybe meet up later in the week and maybe grab dinner to continue the conversation. She wrote her number down and slipped it into my back pocket. Seems she meant it. I did call her later on the next day but our schedules didn't match up as she was pretty busy but we are going to try and go out next time I'm in San Fran where she lives. We've exchanged texts a bit since then. Looks like it might happen. I don't know if things happen this way for most guys but I really actually hook up with women in Vegas at clubs. Always seems I have much better luck getting numbers and meeting at a later date.

Anyway back to Pure, after they sent us upstairs/outside, they started letting more people in. I think it was the public but I don't know for sure. All I know is it was a lot of guys and no more free booze and still before midnight so I wasn't going to stick around and hope it got better. I walked past The Bank on the way back. Being a Sunday night is was fairly busy. They were letting in people for their typical cover and a drink for $20 deal. Worth $20 to see what was going on inside so I headed in. It was lively inside. Lots of people, good looking women, dance floor full but not overpacked. There were two really really old dudes out there tearing it up. Good stuff. I drank a bunch more. Danced. Drank more. Don't remember a whole lot else other than I had fun and am not sure what time I got back to my room at. I over did it for sure.

              Monday.
Woke up dead. Just beat. Dragged myself to the shower and headed out for some work stuff. Got back around 6pm and decided to take a nap because I going to go to a party at Marquee later that Microsoft had invited me to. Free entry and a wristband for free drinks for two hours on Marquee industry night is a good deal to say the least. I set my alarm for 10pm. At 10pm I got up tired. Took a shower, got dressed and headed out to the elevator. I got down to the lobby and realized this just wasn't going to work as much as I wanted it to. Went back to my room and slept for 12 hours. A real waste of a day and opportunity. I was I had just gone to bed at a decent time the night before.

....that enough for now. Still have Tuesday-Thursday. Thursday was epic so I will finish this off as some point.

I've done the "get ready to go out, get in the elevator and when the elevator door opens, I've stayed on and headed back to my room" thing before. Sometimes you just need to listen to your body.

Yeah sleeping for 12+ hours in Vegas sucks, been there done that, but sometimes you just can't fight it off.
If you have to ask how much it costs, you probably can't afford it! That being said, it's Vegas and doesn't hurt to try!

Okay here is the round up of my final 3 days.

Tuesday started off with a txt from Doug and Mary (the older couple I shared a cab with on Friday). They wanted to get together for dinner. I suggested the lounge at Brand in the Monte Carlo. Every evening they have $9 apps and buy one get one drinks. The apps are amazing, high end food. This is one of the best deals in Vegas that I highly recommend to everyone. Shot the breeze with them for over two hours. They are really good people and fun to talk to. After dinner I headed over to Lavo for a party with open bar I had been invited to. I haven't been to Lavo before but I quickly found out it is small. It was packed. You couldn't move or talk so I decided to bail after a few drinks. I probably won't go back to that place anytime soon. I spent the rest of the evening playing poker and got to bed at a decent time for Vegas.

                      Wednesday.
After work, I had a craving for some Tex Mex food. I hit up Diablos on the strip. I have eaten there before. It's not the best Mexican food for the price and the drinks are expensive. But it is close to my hotel and I didn't feel like walking anywhere. Sat down at the bar and ordered a beer and a menu. I wasn't there more than a minute when a group of beautiful young women bellied up to the bar next to me. They asked if I was going on the club crawl. I said "no but wished I could be if you are all going." Truth be told I've been on a few of these crawls over the years and they are a mixed bag. It really depends on the group of people you are with more than anything. More and more women kept joining this crawl. Had I known, I definitely would have been on this one. I flirted with them a while as I waited for my food. I asked where they were all going. The women could only remember that the first club stop was Light (none of the four had ever been to a club before). I said, "what a coincidence, I am going there tonight too." I really hadn't considered my evening plans yet but quickly decided to give it a shot. "We'll see you later" they smiled as their tour master herded them off to the next bar stop on their magical tour. I quickly finished up my meal and headed to my room to change. When I got over to Light, the crawl was coming in from the parking lot. The women waved. I was feeling pretty good about prospects for the night until I saw the line for GA. I got in line and watched the crawl get escorted to the front guest line. I thought to myself I would never get in time so I grabbed my phone and hit up the Light website. I quickly found out I could still purchase presale tickets for the night. Sold. Bought presale tix from the GA line, walked up to the presale line and got in before the crawl. That idea was so money. I met up with them once inside. These ladies were getting hammer on this night, that was obvious. They wanted to party. And they seemed to like me so huge bonus. They bought a round of girly shots and drinks at the bar and headed with me to the dance floor. It was a great hour on the dance floor while it lasted then reality stuck and the crawl was leaving. I begged them to stay telling them its likely their next stop wouldn't be a good as Light but alas it was there first time clubbing and they wanted to see as much as they could. I don't blame them. And the rest of the night at Light sucked big time. All of the good looking women got sucked into tables and the dance floor was all guys and a few women. I struck out with the few that were left and decided to leave early. This same thing happened to me last time I came to Light on a Wednesday. Just not a good night to do GA there.

                      Thursday.
Best day of the trip by far. Woke up early with no work to do so I hit the pool. Hot tub felt great and there were a lot of interesting people to talk to. After the pool I played poker for few hours and walked away up a $110. I decided to hit up Brand again for their apps and drinks deal. Great decision. Top shelf Manhattans and Kobe sliders. Got the last Manhattan in a to go cup and headed out. Went back up to my room about 8pm to shower and change. I had a party invitation to Tao with free admission and open bar for the first hour. I decided to booze cruz my way over there. By that I mean I take drink to go and take a slow trip over stopping at random places to gamble and reload the drink. I ended up stopping at Mirage to play some craps. I like craps as a social game. I only play if a table looks fun. I don't really understand all the bets so I just stick to betting the "don't pass line". You don't win a lot and you don't lose a lot usually. You just have fun and get free drinks. This table was awesome. A good mix of young and old, men and women. All having a good time. This was my kind of bunch. When it came my turn to roll, I did what I always do and passed to the next person. I'm not a big fan of rolling but the lady next to me insisted that I had to take my roll. "What the hell, I'll do it." I was getting drunk already and I'm easily talked into things when I drink. It turned out to be a great decision. I rolled a 10 to start out with, then proceeded to roll 32 straight times (at least that is what a guy next to me said he counted) without hitting a seven or ten. I wasn't making any money but the people that were playing all the crazy bets sure were. People were going nuts. Yelling, giving me high fives. Around the 20th roll, people started tipping me. It was awesome. Buy the time I finally rolled my seven and got my small pay off I had amassed $145 in tips from the table. One guy said he won over $2000 off my streak. That is a once in a life time experience. Good stuff!

But the night was young! I had new money in my pocket and a party to get too. I bid my new friends goodnight. Exchanged some hugs and more high fives and headed off to Tao. I got there around 10pm and got in the line for guests of the party. I struck up a conversation with a bunch of guys from London that were next to me. I had just been over there the week before so we talked about London stuff that I was newly familiar with and then they asked me for club and bottle service advice for which I am a wealth of knowledge thanks to experience and this forum. Around 10:30 they started letting us in. I quickly started taking advantage of the free drinks because they only lasted a short hour. But the time the hour was up, I was getting really drunk at this point so I decided to stop and ride the buzz the rest of the night for free. Best part of the evening was all the women in Tao. One in particular caught my eye on the dance floor when we made eye contact. She smiled. She was probably out of my league on a normal night but I had plenty of liquid courage. Without going into a lot more detail lets just end it by saying this night ended on a high note and should easily make my top 10 vegas nights of all time when I finally decided to close this chapter of my life.

Its been fun. Thanks for reading!
