Hello All, Let me start by saying that me and my wife are not into the Mega Clubs...Yet. We got a taste of bottle service for the first time this trip with some lounges and the bug bit us. We plan on moving up to a club night at Hyde next trip with a tier 2 club thrown in and then who knows? Anyhoo...Here it goes.
Thursday- Arrive in Vegas early...way early at 10AM. We drove as we live close by in the San Diego area. We were staying at Palms Place. We originally booked a 1bd studio suite, but called ahead and got upgraded with a full 1bd suite with early check-in fee waived and told it should be available around 11AM. Walked up to the desk and didn't sandwich the girl at the front desk(Guy on phone who set us up would not be there until Friday and I planned on tipping him when I saw him). probably a big mistake. she said there were no full 1bd suites available and she would call when one was ready. meanwhile, groups of dudes all around me are getting right into rooms( it was me and my wife). Anyway, we take a walk around the Casino to see if anything has changed since last time at the palms and then head to Simmon for some lunch. We return to the desk at Noonish and still no room. Girl gives some excuse about being fully booked last night and then says it will be another hour. we get frustrated and ask if we could get a 1bd studio suite like we originally booked so we can get our stuff situated and I could finish some last minute work on my computer before the fun begins. She obliges and soon our stuff is in the room, my work is done, and we head down to the Rojo lobby bar for the first " I'm in Vegas" drink. A few cocktails later we head up to the room to get ready for a night at Hyde. Thursday is a non club night at Hyde. There is no table minimum, but a reservation is required to get a table. I had set it up with Anthony. Actually spoke to him on the phone and he was very pleasant and helpful. We were seated at a table on the patio right against the glass. We ordered a Ton of food off the Tapas menu and quite a few cocktails..no BS tonight. Staff at Hyde is awesome and so is the food. If you go on a regular lounge night I recommend Thursday. It was very busy and the music was good. We called it quits at about 1AM to get some rest for the pool.
Friday- Wake up fairly early to get down to the pool for Ditch Friday. Palms guests get in starting at 9AM with no entry fee, just a free wrist ban for re-entry. With just me and my wife and getting in early we decided not to get a day bed and got some lounge chairs in a really good spot with a good view of most of the pool and good foot traffic so we could people watch...plus they were only about 6 feet from the water so we could go back and fourth easily. Gave our cocktail server a 20 with the first round and asked her if she could come by at least every 20 minutes or so. She said no problem, and did just that. We spent the rest of the day until about 4PM just lounging, wading in the pool, eating food, and getting a good buzz going. Crowd was average for a Ditch day, but it was fun and the music was good. We head back up to the room to rest for awhile before going to Gold for 80s night. we order room service and shower and pass out for about an hour or so before getting dressed and heading out. I had contacted Joey Orr for a referral to a Gold Host after someone on JC said he would have one. He replied right away with Jack Ross's number and then forworded my number to him and he sent me a text before I could text him. WOW! that's service. We show up at Gold at 10Pm and there is a good size line for a lounge. I introduce my self to the gentleman at the rope and say that I have a table with Jack and Jack is standing behind him, I didn't know it was him. He introduces himself, I give him the proper Handshake and he seats us at a table on the edge of the dance floor right under the DJ booth. It was a great spot with a view of the whole place. I was Stoked. We order a bottle of Goose and me and my Wife, who are not very big drinkers, pretty much Killed the bottle between the 2 of us. By the end of the night I was dancing my ass of and I'm not a big dancer. It made my wife's night. The crowd slowly poured in and by 1130 or 1200 it was packed and stayed that way until we left at 4am. Dj played Great 80s music. The staff at Gold is fantastic. Cocktail server was very attentive as was the runner( gave him 20 at the beginning of the night and another 20 at the end. He was on it the whole night. and he was always smiling and in a good mood.) Security guy was kick ass!. The first time my wife had to use the restroom I called him over, gave him a 20 and asked if he could help my wife get to the restroom. He snapped her up right away and took here to the front of the line. she told me when she got back that she could her people in line talking smack under there breath and she almost felt weird, but got over it as the night went on. The security guy saw me standing in a small line for the restroom( I didn't care about waiting a little) and he even came over and took me to the front. I took him agian at the end of the night with another tip..he was great. I took care of the restroom attendant as well. he was working hard because it was so busy. Now it is 4AM and me and my wife are happy, BUZZED, and ready to call it a night. We sign the bill and head out. Jack didn't see us leaving and ran outside to say good by to us and offer his help with anything we need in Vegas. He's a really cool guy and I recommend him.
