This experience may not be typical based on what i paid but I wanted to share what i call "the best dinner in vegas ive ever had"
I had a group that wanted to go to Lavo and I wanted to spend time with my girl so I told her "im taking you out". I planned on going to Dos Caminos, but mid day i got a call from my buddy Mario asking for an industry comp at my nightclub. I said sure, but can i get a dinner reservation for 2 at your restaurant.
We arrive at 8:15 in the venetian parking lot and take the special elevator from the 3 floor to the venezia tower. This alone will impress even a vegas vet if you have never done that. We get upstairs and proceed to check in the table. "Mr DiPietro, you table will be ready in 5 mins". so we proceed to check out the garden terrace they have, completely private and only open to venezia guests (from what im told by the security gaurd as he lets us check it out).
After a quick walk around the pool garden we check back in with the host and she tells us our table was ready. Boom! dead center table for 2 (really sat 4 but they hooked us up). We start checking out the menu and our very friendly waiter comes over and tells us about the specials. A $90 16oz steak for 2 people thats slow cooked for almost an hour 2 different ways. We jump all over that. We also order onion soup (one of my favorites) and i try to order some seafood. "sir, our chef mario has a few extras prepared for you, i dont think you need to order anything else". I have never had a waiter tell me not to order any more food. Our soups arrive with some bread and warm pistachio nuts. She tells me this is the best onion soup she has ever had. as im 3/4th of the way done he comes over and asked if i am done, i tell him almost, and he said "you should save room, you in for a treat". Next comes a complementary double salmon spread, 2/3 smoked salmon, 1/3 sushi grade salmon sealed in a gar with butter on top to keep it vacuumed in there. this is a must try when you come here, i ate every last drop.
Then they showed us our steak, tall, lean and 16oz of meat, un cooked about to be slow boiled in a sealed bag with dry spices and then braised, we approve and its off to be cooked.
right after that they bring out this complements of the chef duck with some green stuff. I have never had duck before, but i would go back just to have this.
I am almost full and we haven't received our main course yet. good thing it takes an hour to cook because it gave us time to talk and enjoy one another. And then it came.
2 plates with steak, spinach and these little potatos they called "new". they also gave us mac and cheese and eggplant ratatouille complements of mario. Ive had filets and some top steak before, but this takes the cake. Only able to finish about 1/2 of the food in front of us. The waiter sees we are slowing down and asks. Are you ready for your kitchen tour.
We leave everything (even my cell phones) at the table and head back to where the magic happens. We get a guided tour of every aspect of the kitchen as if we were on food network. We see the lines, the bakery everything. Ive never been treated like a celeb as much as i was at this place. We get back to the table to find all our food was boxed and bagged, even the extra stuff. they even gave us extra bread and a whole bag of pistachio nuts. i check the time and its 10:25, i have to meet a group out front of lavo at 10:30. I inform the waiter that i must leave for 15 mins, and he said. dont worry, shes in good hands. I walk the table in, 6 guys b1g1 back stage...... and back to dinner. I get back at 1045 and she is sipping some hot chocolate. I ask to see a desert menu and he said, hahaha, what menu and proceeds to open up extra flaps to make our table bigger. They give us 4 different deserts, a creme brulee, ice cream, a cake dish and this fruit thing. all in all my bill was $130, left a fat tip and with a huge smile on my face. Will be back for sure
