  • Cosmopolitan sandwich question!!

Need someone with experience on this. Staying a Monday-Thursday at the end of May and have a TERRACE STUDIO. What do you think a $50 or $100 sandwich get me?
Thanks in advance to all for your help or thoughts.

Based on my experience, The Cosmo is not as sandwich friendly as other resorts. I've been 0 for 2 on upgrading city rooms, but those were on weekends. You may have more luck since your stay is during the week.

They've given your money back though, right? I've been hit or miss there. I'm Marriott and Identity gold and they're usually good about upgrading, or at least giving me a better view. During the week is A LOT easier so I don't see you having a problem. They'll usually just ask you if you want to pay an extra $50 night or so for a wraparound.

For $50 last year in June (4 days, 3 night stay...sat to tues)..I got my terrace studio upgrade to a Fountain View Terrace One Bed Room WITH resort fees waived.

I don't know how generous they are with sandwiches recently, but the cool thing about the Cosmo is that each rep has their own line to check in with...so i generally just pick a younger employee who looks more easy going so I can work my mouthpiece with them...sales experience haha
        Next trip: ???

I've booked a terrace suite for my next trip and will try to sandwich it up to a wraparound terrace suite. Is the wraparound much nicer than a regular terrace suite? I've read that all regular terrace suites have a view on the fountains while I'm not sure about the wraparounds.

True, all terrace suites have fountain view and not all wraparounds do. It's a hit or miss trying to get a wrap with fountain view, depending on if it's a busy weekend. Definitely doesn't hurt to ask when checking in! Also, terrace suites are all in the west tower while wraparounds are in both east and west. The east tower seems to have much more energy

Alriiiight, thanks for the info. Much appreciated! I guess I'll ask for a wraparound in the east tower then. I'll be checkin'in right after MDW so chances might be good.

The Cosmo sandwich confuses me....so many people here say how easy it is to get an upgrade with them....everytime I try I get some lame excuse.

I always book a wraparound when I stay at Cosmo as I like to entertain, and a sandwich never gets me upgraded to a fountain view! I have tried $20 and $40 and I am usually told..."I cannot do that as it is a completely different rate".....so? Isn't that the point of an upgrade? I always book direct through them and rarely get a hookup, unless I voice a complaint about something, they they typically go above and beyond.

I feel ya Mike, I have only had success with a city view up to a terrace suite which gave me the balcony...definitely worth the effort. This year, I'm feelin myself, so we're gonna try the upgrade to the terrace with the fountains view with waived resort fee!

I've contacted Cosmo, asking for a rollaway bed in the room. They replied no problem, the cost for the rollaway bed is $50 + tax per night. I'll be staying 6 nights so this would be an additional $300 + tax fee. I find that a bit steep. Is it the same in other hotels?

Do you think a sandwich at check in would solve that problem? I guess I'd have to specifically ask to waive the rollaway bed fee.

Oh well... guess there's no way around it then. I thought this would be a Cosmo thing only.

This is easy call down and say u had an argument with your partner (this gets the sympathy vote) and ask for a spare bed. At no point offer to pay or exchange money. On check out if they have tried to charge you refuse to pay due to the fact no one mentioned a price. The likelihood is they won't charge u anyway. I do this all the time. Also ask for a fridge because u r diabetic, this gets them to empty the fridge free of charge and u can stock your own stuff in the fridge.

I forgot to say thanks on these points - I'm gonna try both...especially the diabetic one...good call cause those things are pressure sensitive in that fridge!

Last time I stayed at the Cosmo we had a wraparound and 4 guys. I did a $20 sandwich and I got 2 free roll-away beds. Ive also in the past got resort fees waived and had them empty the fridge in the room so we could stock it up with our own shit. They have also on their own upgraded my comped rooms to terrace studios...
