I plan to try the sandwich in hopes of an upgrade in September. Does it help if I use a $50 instead of $20????

I'm both Identity Platinum and Marriott Platinum and the upgrades have been pretty stingy. Typically it's just the better view...if you get anything. ONCE I was able to get upgraded from a Terrace 1BR Fountain view to a Terrace Suite Fountain View, but I had to argue about it. They wanted to originally upgrade me to something they called a "corner terrace" -- which is a room that you cannot book and is apparently just a larger Terrace 1br...I've never seen it.Originally posted by lets get away View PostThey've given your money back though, right? I've been hit or miss there. I'm Marriott and Identity gold and they're usually good about upgrading, or at least giving me a better view. During the week is A LOT easier so I don't see you having a problem. They'll usually just ask you if you want to pay an extra $50 night or so for a wraparound.
My sense is that they reserve those rooms to avoid having to upgrade people from non-premium to premium rooms.
I've probably spent 60 nights at Cosmo since it's opened and I think their entire program, and partnership with Marriott is such BS. All they do is keep stripping away benefits of Identity and doing everything they can not to honor Marriott benefits. I only stay there because I love the property and like being centrally located.

I read elsewhere that if you mention you're celebrating "something" then staffers have something they can put in their notes as the reason you were given an upgrade. Instead of "just because"... So my boyfriend always chimes in that it's our anniversary EVERY TIME WE GO ANYWHERE. -_- LOL *grumbles* it works though lol
Our last stay at the Cosmo was upgraded from the City Room we booked to a Terrace Studio with Fountain view. No sandwich.@mihkell

You should certainly try. A Hotwire room at Cosmo is likely to get you on a very low floor, potentially directly above marquee or the jockey club. Depending on your taste in Vegas trips, being directly over marquee may be a good or bad thing. And, while being directly over the jockey club on a low floor means you're getting a fountain view, you're also going to be listening to trucks backing into and out of the loading docks at bellagio all night.Originally posted by JCleary23 View PostFound Cosmo on hotwire for a Saturday-Tuesday (going to Aria the next couple nights). Anybody think I'll have any luck upgrading from a hotwire deal even if I'm willing to pay a little?
If you're out till the sun comes up it's not going to matter - but if you want to get any kind of sleep at all in the night hours you will definitely want a higher floor.

Update: Contacted the Cosmopolitan reservation department and they were so helpful! For a minimum fee (I believe only about $40) I was able to be upgraded to a One bedroom terrace with a guaranteed view of the Bellagio fountains. I know I could've waited to try to get it cheaper at check-in, but with a Saturday arrival I didn't want to risk it. However, I can not speak highly enough of the Cosmopolitan staff. They were exceptional, courteous, and extremely helpful! Will definitely be staying there for many years to come.

Thanks J...what was your original reservation room type? City Room? I may do the same, $40 is not bad, just gotta make sure its not a $40 per day add-on.Originally posted by JCleary23 View PostUpdate: Contacted the Cosmopolitan reservation department and they were so helpful! I booked a wrap around terrace and tried a sandwich trick to get upgraded to a fountain view room(Marriott PLat member too). Sadly they were "all sold out" but the room they gave us one on the west tower that faced down on Marquee and we were still able to see the fountains. Also people with the bungalows didn't seem to know their hot tubs were not very private...

Finally got my sh** together to post this and can tell you a $50 sandwich got me an upgraded to a wrap around on the 57th floor from a regular room. BUT.... I did also have to pay extra $75 a night. Still a deal!!! so we took it. The front desk does not hide the sandwich. They lay it out with the ID for the eyes in the sky to see. I also asked him to check with floor manager to see if he/she had any offers available for us. I strongly believe it's all based on supply and demand and how busy they are at the time.

When did you go? For a 50 dollar tip I would expect not to pay a dime more, even if it was a fountain view terrace.Originally posted by jeffjm View PostFinally got my sh** together to post this and can tell you a $50 sandwich got me an upgraded to a wrap around on the 57th floor from a regular room. Was there a month ago. Stayed Monday - Friday.
Yes to me it was well worth it. Went from a standard room to a wrap around on the 57th floor fountain view. All for the 50$ sandwich and $375 extra cost. I think we all could drop $375 easily at a club. Amazing room and view. Thanks to the great staff at Cosmo. Now if I stayed a Thursday - Sunday I do not think I would have recieved this offer
