  • How bad is staying off the strip...at the Hard Rock?

Staying there for a bachelor party. I usually stay on the strip (Cosmo, PH, etc.) and I would never willingly stay off of it.

Just want to know what to expect and hear some thoughts/prior experiences.

    Thanks all,

I stayed off the strip (at the Palms) my first trip to Vegas. It's kind of a pain in the ass, especially with a bunch of girls who were always running late. And cab fare adds up. But it's not the worst thing in the world as long as you're prepared for it...and don't let cab drivers take you waaay out of the way.
I'm not bitchy, I'm just drawn that way.

Hi! Me and a few mates are coming over from england to break our las vegas V and we are staying at hard rock!!! I've seen a few people saying its annoying but the HR looked good for younger people hence why we booked with them! We will be there 24-31st august

You'll be fine...I've stayed at the HR before, It a major hump to the strip due to the heat, so a taxi is in order, but when I stay on the strip I'm always taking a cab anyway. I keep a rental nowadays since I've paid for it after a few cab rides. As for the HR being for a young crowd, that's kinda 90ish...Cosmo is THE spot, but everywhere in Vegas can be said to cater to younger crowds. You'll enjoy the rooms, especially if you're not in the Tower cause you can have a balcony that opens right over the pool.

I've stayed at the Hard Rock... 3 times now in the past few years, it's a solid choice.

          1. If you have a rental it helps
          2. Also helps if you're willing to use their shuttle
          3. Taxis aren't that expensive depending where you want to go plan for 10-15 including tip.

I don't get people wiht rental cars in vegas... I'm never sober enough to drive. I'd rather budget for another $20/day and just get driven around without worrying about it.

I couldnt agree more, I pretty much have alcohol flowing through me the whole trip, I would easily get a DUI having to drive places.

I live in California so I usually drive as it is only a 3-4 hour drive and my dad usually gets a hook up on the rentals. So I'm usually sober enough for a one way trip. Having a rental saved my ASS last weekend Friday night. Stayed at the Elara and there was a massive line for the taxi and 0 taxis in sight. I actually made a couple bucks because I ended up taking this couple to the Venetian. Bringing a mini-van to Vegas worked out.

I feel ya but I've done Vegas w/o a rental many times, I like the freedom to hit my BOA ATM, the Walmart, and anything else I may need away from the strip. My wait for my valet is quicker than any taxi line before and after clubbing...and I honestly don't remember paying $20/day for taxis. We realized that we basically paid for the rental with 2 days of taxicabs.

As for DUI, my buzz is usually gone by the time its valet retrieval time, and my preparty isn't that krazy.
This doesn't work when you have large groups

I always feel like I'd lose my rental at a valet in Vegas. End up jumping in a random limo and remembering 2 days later I rented a car, but not where I left it.

                          Thanks all,

The Hard Rock is awesome and not that far from the strip. You can get to any strip hotel for $10-$15 cab ride. DO NOT drive your own car anywhere. I have stayed at HR over 30+ times. The road access to the strip is super convenient, just make sure no cabbies start driving you up LV Blvd, then they are trying to rape you on fare!
Been to Vegas too many times to count, partied in too many pools and clubs to track, but when you live so close, why wouldn't you?
