Hotel Prices High?

My next trip is May 31st thru June 4th. Is there something huge going on in Vegas these dates? I was getting quotes like 650 at MGM, 590 at Luxor, 600 at Monte Carlo. I literally laughed when the guy at Luxor said 249 on a Sat night. Keep in mind I have been part of M life for years.

Hmm interesting....we paid 667 at Venetian for June 1-3....but we wanted to be close to Tao and experience a tier 1 hotel....

Thats not a special weekend from what I know. I was checking early June rates a couple weeks back and the CET properties were reasonable. I mean they were normal rates, nothing outrageous.

$590 at Luxor!? That is laughable

I'd just keep checking mlife for a couple weeks. I checked every day for about two weeks before I booked and the rates constantly jumped around.

It looks like there's a huge jewelry show at Mandalay Bay. The convention website says 38,000 people are expected. This may be the culprit.

38,000 isnt that much. the SEMA and CES show bring in 125-150,000 people during the week and rooms are never that high. Check other hotels, theyre not priced that high.

I just checked Mlife and my Vdara shows $171/avg, Luxor $150. You sure you're not getting a rate for the full trip?

Its the jewelry show. I know 38k doesnt sound like a lot, but its actually more than that, and with the event at Mandalay Bay, the M Life resorts are all higher. They always block off huge amounts for the show itself.
I go to the show annually, its always a tough hotel price for at least the Sat night. Lots of people come up for the day or two.

Im an MLife/Players card guy too, best I could do was 120 Fri+Sat, $39 other days. Im Pearl level I think.

I know at the Cosmo they are hosting Tropfest (film festival) from June 1-3 and the Miss USA pageant is on at Planet Hollywood June 3rd. We were lucky we booked our suite at the Cosmo in early February for a really low rate using their 3 for 4 promotion. Now we're just counting down the days! I am a little disappointed about all of these closures though..some of the best spots to grab a cheap drink are gone.

That is the same level as me. Maybe youre closer to the next level, but I cant believe the numbers they quoted me.

Nope. The 4 night total was in the 600's. I found TI for 400. That seems to be a steal compared to other hotels.

We're you expecting Comps when you called the host? Is that why?

I'm platinum on Mlife and I havent had any offers lately. But the rates you mentioned arent outrageous from what I see.

I was not expecting 4 free nights in a suite or anything crazy, but i had a reservation for 5 nights at luxor, which I had to cancel due to work, it was 2 free nights and the other 3 were between 39 and 79/ night. Now I am staying 1 less night and the numbers doubled. I am more confused about it that upset. And my m-life offers went from 3 free nights at the Mirage to 250 for a Sat night at Luxor. Seems pretty dramatic to me.

ya $39 and $79 is a deal. Thats like mid december rates.

Yeah I was really pleased with it. Now I am totally unsure what to book. I dont want to panic and book something, but I would like to finalize my trip.
