  • Cosmo or Aria?

    Hi All!
First post here. I am going to Vegas for my first time with a buddy, for the Foster the People concert at the Cosmo. We wanted to do a little weekend trip with some nightlife added in. I was able to lock in a great rate for the Cosmo, but saw a lot of negative reviews on tripadvisor in regards to room cleanliness and check in time. What do you guys recommend? I have skimmed the boards a bit and it seems like the Cosmo is a popular hotel on the board. Aria would be my other option, seeing that it's close, but is the nightlife much worse? Thanks a lot for the help guys, looking forward to posting on here a lot more!

I stayed at Aria in October. It is an amazing property, the rooms and beds are awesome. It's got plenty of nightlife options and if you want to go cheap you can ride the escalators over to the Monte Carlo for some low minimum gambling. Everything at Aria was fantastic with one exception...the casino is dull as hell.

It's about a 10 minute walk over to the Cosmo through the mall. We hung out at the Cosmo a few times. It's a fun place, no idea what the rooms are like though.
Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

Good to know , I booked the aria for April's trip and had some doubts thinking maybe I should of booked Cosmo. Chuck, did you try greasing at chek in for a upgrade? I'm going to swing for a home run and try to land a killer suite....

I'd go cosmo cause of the pricematch and the fact there's no resort fees. Better location in regards to the strip too. Takes a year to get to Aria from the strip.

Not quite sure what Trip Advisor was talking about. Cosmo is amazing. I stayed there last year for my wedding. We had a terrace 1 bedroom with a view of the fountains. Originally booked a city room with no view but a 50 dollar sandwich took care of that. The service is impecable. The hotel guests get comp entry on most days to marquee nightclub and dayclub. The housekeeping lady even gave me 100 room credit just cause I was getting married. The food is wonderful. The beds are comfy. It comes with 2 tv's so you can watch something else if your partner doesn't like it. The best part is the balcony... especially if you smoke. It is nice to get a breath of fresh air every once in a while. I highly recommend cosmo. Haven't stayed at aria but that looks awesome too. Not as great of a nightlife/daylife scene though.

For what it is worth, the negative reviews were recent. I'm not sure if 3 hour check in waits and dirty rooms are an actual problem, one time occurance, or another hotel making fake reviews. The Cosmo sounds like my best bet, I'm definitely going to try a 50 dollar sandwich and see how that goes, but I'll be staying on a fairly busy weekend (post July 4th + the concert) so who knows how that'll fair. Definitely looking forward to my stay/all the bars and marquee. Any other tips? Thanks everyone!

They hooked me up with a suite before hand since I had already booked a Hospitality Suite and 9 other standard rooms. I hosted a meeting with some other business owners.

If I were you I'd do $50 sandwich and try for a Hospitality Suite, they are huge and have a badass conference room with a big screen and huge table and a full bar and shit.

I had a 1 bedroom Tower Suite. Can't go wrong with that either. I'm willing to bet it would be easy to grease a suite since they have tons of suites.

Cosmo does have easier access to the strip, but I really wasn't put off by the 5 minute walk through Crystals to the strip. The CVS (I think) right around the corner from Aria came in handy as well.

I am intrigued though....what's the "pricematch". When I compared in October Cosmo was a bit more expensive than Aria for a comparable room...as I recall.

                  decisions...decisions!
1st - no comparison - Cosmo is the right answer and you're already booked...Take your conf# and complete the LNF deal using a Yeego.com rate or use the buy 3 stay 4 rate from the cosmopolitanlasvegas.com site and get an even better deal from Marriott.

2nd - that walk can't possibly be 10 minutes...I remember walking some girl from Marquee that night and I literally got lost at 5 am as they were waxing the Mall floor...it was a maze and I was drunk!

I found this in the TripAdvisor forum:

(BTW Cosmo is owned by Marriott - news to me)

                    Talking about deals on Cosmo:

"Check the Marriott website and see if the rate is more expensive than Expedia. If it is, you can do a claim form since Marriott has a "best rate guarantee". They will match the price and give you an additional 25% off. I just did this by booking the Marriott, finding the cheaper rate on expedia for my 3 nights and filling out the claim form. They get back to you within 24 hours. It worked great... we saved quite a bit of money! (I even emailed them again when I found an even cheaper rate on tripres.com and they reduced it again!)"

Stayed at cosmo end of feb and the Aria Beginning of Aug. We had a regular room at both hotels but upgraded to fountain view at the cosmo.

Aria's was amazing. Beds comfy, room was spacious, they have 3 decent sized pools so plenty of spots. but has Chuck said the casino is lacking. Also Viva Elvis is this. And its not as far from the strip as people have made it out to be.

Cosmo is one of my favorites, but I did have complaints. Our rooms shape was bad. The carpet looked like it had began unravel and someone had pulled it. The tv's picture would get breaks or w.e the lines you see in every couple minutes (not a big fuss just wen in the winter so watched more tv then usual). the bathroom had a weird smell and annoying fan sound coming from the vent( and no the fan was not on ha). Never got to see the pools. Check out time was redic

All in all if you care about the room I would say Aria. If the hotel as a whole even with a bad room I would say cosmo

I've stayed at Cosmo twice and loved it both times! Yes, I hear you on the TA reviews though--many negative ones and not just recently--mostly due to lack of housekeeping--I never experienced any problems though. I was nervous about it my last visit, which was last July. Since my last stay they have begun to charge for wifi which is disappointing. The last time I stayed there, I was fortunate to get a fountain view just for asking at check-in (no sandwich required). Stayed in Terrace Suites both times and the room itself is super fly! After my trip to Bellagio this weekend, am already booked in May at Aria and am looking forward to staying there. Have gambled/dined there but never stayed and I hear the beds are amazing!

To say there is "no comparison" is just not accurate. Aria is better than the Cosmo in many ways, IMO. The Cosmo has the edge in some categories as well, but they are comparable properties.

Universal you're right....especially since I've never stayed at Aria! I was thinking from the "whole experience" perspective.
