  • Advice on where to stay please

I've been to LV before but that was a family deal. This time its with the guys and I want to have a little more fun than last time. I'm 34 and am getting past the point of liking the 20 something crowd but it's fun in small doses. I've read the hard rock and palms are where the younger crowd goes but where do the almost olde people go? I would like a mix of luxury/fun say a 65/35 split? I don't mind paying a little more for the nicer area about 150-200 a night I was figuring if that helps. Where on the strip is not too big a deal tho. Thanks for the help

    I've stayed at the following:

    Venetian
    THE Hotel
    Harrah's
Circus Circus (NEVER EVER EVER EVER STAY HERE!)
    Mirage
    Aria

After whoring around a bit my wife and I decided The Mirage is our place. I'm 31 and she's not far behind me. We like the Mirage because it's priced middle of the road, has nice rooms, the service has always been great and you get a good mix of people there. Great pool, good food options, fun casino, etc.

Aria would be second. It's an amazing property with great service, pool, etc. However, the casino is boring as hell. It feels like you're in one of your friends living rooms that you don't know that well, it just feels awkward.
Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

+1 on Aria being boring in the casino.

Try Treasure Island. It was just remodeled (last couple years) and is in a great location. Nice rooms in the $150 range

Just my 2 cents (and as for being around a similar age), some good spots to try would be THEHotel / Mandalay Bay properties, Cosmopolitan, Aria, and the WynnCore / VeniPalazzo corner.

TI and Mirage are good picks as well - you can scoop up great discounts on their rooms and it puts you again smack-dab in the WynnCore / VeniPalazzo corner.

Haven't got a room there but have eaten there twice and it is f'n crazy on Friday nights on the Casino Floor, Chandelier Bar, and whatever that place is with the Go-Go Dancers that faces the strip on the main level.

I'm a bit ahead of you on the age thing (just turned 40), but I spent a fair bit of my 30's travelling to Vegas and my favorites for exactly what you're looking for - mix of lux/fun are Palazzo/Venetian followed closely by Mirage. I haven't stayed at Cosmo though, so that may be a viable option. I really really like WynnCore, but other than the nightclubs it tends to trend way more on the luxury / older crowd.

I am staying at the mirage for the 1st time MDW. Quite excited about it. Got in on that great 39/69 deal that was posted a while back. I have stayed at Wynn. It was ok. There was an older vibe in the casino during the day. At night there were hella chicks but I wasn't that impressed. Cosmo is where it is at for me but I would like to also stay at the venetian/palazzo sometime soon

Thanks a bunch for the ideas guys I really appreciate it. Would it be better to maybe to stay at a couple during the week to try them out or would that be too much of a pain? Cosmo aria and the mirage sounds like the best options for me so far.

I would only switch hotels if you get a stupidly good deal. For, what you are looking for I'd do the Venetian/Palazzo, Cosmo or Mirage. The WynnCore is great but it only wakes up at night. The others give you luxury plus the vibe that your 'in the action'. The casino at Aria just kills that place for me. I get more excited walking into Slots of Fun.

For the value I'd go Mirage and plan on hitting the Cosmo at night. The sandwich has great success at the Mirage also.

                        Chuck,

Have you stayed in the renovated tower suites?

                        Cheers

                          Stayed at several different hotels on the strip if I choose top 2 from them;

1- Palazzo: suites are amazing, spacious, service is great, so many nightlife options close to you (Wynncore clubs, Venetian and Palazzo spots). Great restaurants nearby, whole vibe of the hotel very elegant but also a great party spot.

2- Mirage: Newly renovated rooms are great, best standard rooms are tower deluxe floor 24 or 25 you will get great views, bigger bathroom and separate elevator access. Mirage has some great food options, love BLT Burger place. Casino is always lively. Perfect location on the strip.

Best value hotel on the strip I stayed at: Monte Carlo, rooms are not the greatest but does the job very well, and really clean. beds are comfortable. Amazing location, free tram system to city center and Bellagio. Staff were really nice, their restaurant Brand and their PUB (great beer selection) is really good.

First time, staying at Cosmopolitan for the mayinvasion and Aria for the EDC, so looking forward to those locations.

Yes, they're quite nice. Oh, and you'll want to ship the bed home when you leave! The beds are the best I've ever had anywhere.

When was the last time you had success with the sandwich at Mirage?
