  • Elara...WTF???

I went to Elara the 8-11th and had the 2br suite. The room was pretty nasty when we got there so I emailed Hilton Honors. I really dont understand what the hell the reply meant. Ill post the traffic, hopefully someone can make heads or tales of it for me.

    To whom it may concern,

I recently stayed at the Hilton Elara hotel in Las Vegas from March
8th to March 11th, my confirmation number was *****. Upon entering
the room, 2 bedroom suite, I was very please with the space and
thought it was very nice. However, upon further inspection the room,
2034, was very dirty and not well kept. There was Coke all over the
bath room walls, the cups in the cupboard had some kind of sticky
syrup all over them, there were clothes left in the drawers from a
previous occupant and the speaker system for the living room TV was
all kinds of messed up. Also, upon check out someone took my name
room number and email in order to expedite the check-out process. She
assured me that I would receive and email within a few hours with a
receipt. I still have not received an email with a receipt. I did
not choose to voice these concerns while I was at the hotel, other
than the dirty glasses, who one of the room service ladies brought new
ones to me. I didn't bring these issues to light because I frankly
did not want to deal with anything other than my vacation and having
fun. It took me awhile to get back to you and voice my concerns
because I was in transit on my way back to Afghanistan and I now have
time to sit down and write you.

Also, I had made my reservation prior to the hotel name being changed
to Elara when it was still under PH Towers. I therefore used my PH
Total Rewards instead of a HHonors card. I have just made a HHonors
account number, ******, and was wondering if I could get credited
    for my stay at Elara.

    Thank you,
    Jacob

Thank you for reaching out to the Hilton Corporate office; the hotel has not become a Hilton property so therefore we can’t give you credit for that stay. As a gesture of goodwill; I will reward you with 500 Hilton Bonus points.

    Best regards,

I am sorry, I am somewhat confused. Elara is not a Hilton hotel? What about the filthy room? I could care less about the points but a simple apology and a "We will look in to it so it does not happen again" would be nice. Whether or not it is officially a Hilton hotel everything at the hotel carries the Hilton brand from the room keys to the cocktail napkins. You guys are Hilton hotels not the No Tell Motel that gets rented out for 20$ an hour.

What can 500 Hilton Bonus Points get you? I'm sorry to hear about your stay. If I paid a lot for a 2 bedroom suite, I would be livid if there was anything dirty or sticky. Clothes left over is unacceptable as well. If you messed anything up, they'd want to charge your card of course. Like you said, it's not an hourly motel. Someone in that corporate office thinks you'll get over it and stop bothering them.
    I just don't give a shit.

I've read about these rooms being nasty on Trip Advisor but I tend to take those reports with a grain of salt. I guess there's some truth to the story after all.

Yeah, I was not impressed. I got there and there was barely a quarter of a roll of toilet paper and the charged a dollar per glass that I had to order to replace the dirty ones.

Last time i was in town I stayed at vdara and the maid took all my clothes out of my suitcase, folded them and put them in drawers. That was just the average run of the mill room too.

The response you received was a "legal template" from a huge corporation. I recently did battle with Maytag. I'm legally bound to not disclose the outcome.

I went rounds with "Customer Service" people for two weeks, then I took to their Facebook page with pictures. Three months later we reached a mutually agreeable outcome. You have to decide if it's really worth your time to pursue this further. My guess is that it's probably not worth your time when all you're going to get is the opportunity to stay in a POS room for free at best.

IMO...cut your losses, don't make the same mistake twice, and make sure your friends, family, and Twitter followers are adequately informed so they don't make the same mistake.

Nope, they insulted me. Hilton can suck my D. I will fly out to vegas and picket if that's what it takes.

So let me get this straight, they charged you for glasses because the ones there were already dirty, and you wanted clean glasses. Guess i'll be bringing some Solo cups with me.

Good...just wanted to prepare you for what it's like trying to get a reasonable response out of a big company like that. The "Good Faith" is lawyer speak for 'we won't admit any wrong doing, but want to show you we care'.

You're going to need to get pretty high up in the chain of command to really get anything done. Just call and ask for their legal department, that usually gets you to the people that can actually do something. A customer service manager or supervisor will be a waste of time.

Thanks for the tip. Im going to call the hotel directly and if they give me the run around i will start with legal and go from there.

I should have just not been lazy and dealt with it while i was there.

Make sure from this point forward you keep notes of who you spoke with, date, and time, and what was discussed and what they said they would do.

A letter to the General Manager of the property with good documentation asking for a specific resolution with a notice that your next step is to contact corporate may get it resolved at that level. Always include a date, usually 5 business days, as to when you expect a request to be fulfilled.

Here's what i got in reply to my nastygram:

"It is possible to forward the hotel’s information. I will be happy to review"

Maybe some headway. This is exciting. Taking on the man and shit.
