  • Priceline's Name Your Price

Has anybody successfully used Priceline's Name Your Own Price to secure a 5 star property at an absurd rate? I was thinking about trying some ridiculous numbers, like 5 stars, on the strip, $150, for a weekend and see what happens. Worst case scenario is they say no and don't charge me.....

I want to hear some success stories!

I've gotten Palazzo and Encore - weekends - for less than $150 a night multiple times through Priceline and Hotwire. I've gotten the Palazzo for $99 a few times and the cheapest I was able to get Encore for was $120. Steal.

One time I did get Aria for $75 a night but usually I'm not checking that area of the strip and from the sounds of it, it was a freak occurrence.

Did it once, selected 5 star hotels, and started with a low price... I was rejected a couple of times until one of the hotels took my offer (lol). I scored the Trump Hotel for a weekend at about $135 a night.

I think same thing happened with desichiQ for our Thanksgiving weekend night. She got the Trump at like $120 or something like that?

I've done trump for $65/night and I've done wynn for $95/night. However, these were weekdays. I think the wynn included a saturday night as well for a 3 night stay. Either way, it was amazing deal.

Can you sandwhich upgrade on a priceline booking? The fine print says no upgrades are allowed. Not sure if they mean a rewards point type upgrade or what.

You can sandwich upgrade a priceline or hotwire booking - that's the type of upgrade no one is talking about in their fine print.

Also, Trump doesn't count. It's off the strip, you can score that hotel for less than $90 a night on the weekend.

The good news is that Trump is no longer considered a 5-star property on the North Strip. They moved it out of the boundaries for the Strip, so you're guaranteed either Wynn, Encore, Palazzo, or Venetian.

At least this was the case about 5 months ago.

$90 a night on a regular weekend? wow... that's cheap, I might have to book there more often during pool party season. The price I mentioned above was for LDW (Was partying up at Encore Beach). The hotel is less than a mile from the strip, and has a shuttle that takes you to the Encore/Wynn and back for free. Compared to staying at the Encore or Wynn... I thought it was a good deal.

It's a very good deal and the hotel is very nice.

It's just not on the strip and has no casino. So in my eyes it doesn't count. I need my tables only a elevator ride away.

The ratings fluctuate; the last time I did it - which was early November it was considered a 5-Star too but you can cheat the search into only giving you on the strip results. Also, Hotwire with a little research can give you even better deals by cross referencing them w/Priceline.

Hotwire used to have Trump separated from the other 5 stars, but they've merged again, and any of them you see with no casino or with a kitchenette 5 star north, is most likely the trump.

Just want to throw in a couple points...

                            1) I prefer travelocity top secret over hotwire/expedia unpublished

--Hotwire has higher recovery fees. This means that if the rate is $60/night, then with hotwire you'd be paying close to $80/night after fees whereas with travelocity more like $75/night.

--I booked an "east of strip" hotel with hotwire and I ended up getting extended stay on boulder highway, which is like 4-5 miles from the strip. With Travelocity "east of strip" always gave me places a few blocks from the strip or at worst once I got 1.5 miles away. I've done it probably 10 times with Travelocity in vegas. Only once or twice with hotwire. Hotwire must say "east near strip hotel." With hotwire It has have the word "near" in order for it to be near the strip...."east of strip" is not good enough. Travelocity would call a boulder highway hotel "east las vegas" which is more descriptive than hotwire which would just say "east of strip."

--I've used Travelocity top secret all over the US and I've NEVER been disappointed. NEVER. With hotwire, I've stayed at a few questionable/sketchy places. I mean it was still worth it, but travelocity has just been more rewarding.

Old thread, but I thought I'd share my success with Priceline.

I just got a weeknight at the Palazzo for $75 in March and it's listed for $189 that night. I've been trying randomly over the past week, but very happy it worked out.

Using Priceline is definitely great if you want to get a 5* place on the strip.
