So I've decided to muster up the courage (and liver) for another run at Vegas. Last time I stayed at the Bellagio for 4 days, it was pretty sweet I'm not going to lie. I'll be heading there Jan 26 - 29th from Boston. Would love to know your favorite recommendations for cheap skates...save the money on your room and spend it on booze!! Ideal near strip/walking distance or short cab. Has anyone done hotels on Freemont?

If you mean the motels on Fremont (east of LV Blvd.), I don't think you'd get a nightly rate less than some of the downtown properties and you'd get a whole lotta other "stuff" to deal with... pimps bangin' on the doors, gun shots, etc. Don't let the new median strip and palm trees fool you... it's nasty over there.
Gold Spike has some nicely redone rooms at great prices, as do a lot of the downtown casino/hotels, but those aren't close (walking distance) to the strip. On the cheap, on the strip... Riviera (north strip) comes to mind as does Imperial Palace (right in the middle of everything). Hooter's is just steps off the strip and is very affordable.

I agree with Imperial Palace if your going super cheap. Great location, cheap gambling, and its not that bad. Ive stayed there before.
Hit up VRBO and check out MGM Sig and Palms Place. You can usually find a suite for under $100 a night.
Keep a look out for deals. You could probably land HRH for under $100 a night. They just had a end of summer sale that averaged $78 a night.
Your booking solid dates for deals, so if you do book early, make sure you have a good cancellation policy, in case a better deal comes along.Blackout Artist

Imperial is cheap and right in the middle of the action. However it's straight up ghetto. Did it 3 years ago.
Flamingo has some deals too but the crowd there can get sketchy.
Ballys is affordable too, I've done that for new years just for the price/value and location.
There's also Excalibur. Close to MGM and the monorail. Luxor is fine but further away.** Lifestyle Entrepreneur

Same here. We did MC 4 times in 2 months. We barely stayed in the room. We knocked out at 6am and got out of the room after lunch. Its close to everything we want to be at and usually ran only $100 on those busy weekends.***Feb 2012 - Aria - Marquee *** March 2012 - Encore - Marquee, Surrender

El Cortez cabana suites are tough to beat. It's in downtown Vegas the Fremont east bars. $53 dollars a night, for their suites they're regular rooms are $29. And you get $25 towards food a day. (mmm breakfast) and $35 in slot play.

Wow! El Cortez certainly surprised me!
IP and Carriage House are stand by cheap hotels. Hard Rock and Flamingo are pretty cheap (when they have a good discount) as well. I've stayed at The Plaza before and I probably wouldn't stay there again. Felt like I was stuck in a refurbished jail cell. I've heard that Golden Nugget has really renovated their rooms and are worth staying in.
I'll be trying out the newly renovated Circus Circus rooms this trip. Hopefully, they'll be pleasantly surprising.

Hotel/Casino/Everything:
Imerial Palace - we did a week there and paid $20/nt. sun-thurs and $50 fri/sat. The place isn't bad at all either... just try and get main tower (DO NOT get a capri room) and ask for a strip view... we got high floor strip view main tower just by asking, not even a handshake.
Bills - cheap, clean, good gambling
... If casino attached doesn't matter to you - THE JOCKEY CLUB! Best money you can spend in vegas, especially with a large group.
It is connect to the Cosmo through an indoor walkway and your Jockey club keycard gets you access to ALL the Comso's features (pools/etc).
It is right on the strip (cosmo kind of built around it), next to Bellagio, across the street from PH.
We got a 2bedroom (4 beds + sofa sleeper), 2 bathroom suite with kitchen, living, walk in closets, Bellagio fountain view all for $1100 for 7 nights!
We had 6 people in the room and it was still HUGE ... only had to pay $180 per person for 7-nights.... FOR THE WHOLE STAY!... cheaper than most rooms for one night.

Ive almost booked there from VRBO several times, but decided on something else. Ive always been curious about it. I was looking at the 3br and it looked like it had some great views of the strip.Originally posted by Sidekicknicholas View PostHotel/Casino/Everything:
