Marquee vs. Drai's

Cannot speak to Marquee, but loved Drai's when I was there last September. They were playing electronica, not hip-hop.

I always have a good time at Drai's, but I don't get is why they have Metal Detectors when no other club does. Did something happened. I went Drai's for NYE and didn't go trough the hassle of a metal detector.

If you're only doing two bottles, go with Marquee. If you can get the last table in the cloud bar (closest to the main exit to the pool area) take it. It's the best table in that section, it has the best view of the main room, and probably the best table available for two bottles.

Thanks for that tip on location ccc. That's the kind of spot we were looking for inside but not too far inside.. who'd you use for a host there?

that's not really fair to the current establishment. the shooting happened at the old afterhours in ballys hotel. they have people with wands at the entrances at drais now to prevent stuff like that from happening again and i haven't heard of anything incidents since that.

as for the original poster. the 1k min will most likely land you outside on the patio on saturday for marquee and drais you may be able to get away with a banquette table (smaller tables in front of backwall) or possibly backwall depending on how many reservations they have.

At this point Drai's still hasn't announced an act for that night... it's looking more and more like Marquee with Benny Benassi or XS and Deadmau5 for our group preference of electronic music. Surprising that Drai's seems to have a hard time pulling in acts until a week or two out.

drais inside all the way. backwall is fine you have a view of the whole venue and the bars are next to the backwall tables so there is plenty of traffic in front of them to pull people from. mezz is pretty secluded at drais and patio is not always open.

as for marquee i would recommend at least cloud bar. if you want to hear hip hop they also have a hip hop room. in the prime areas the only bad tables at marquee are the ones with the post in front of them it obstructs the view of the stage oh and also there's another area in the main room called saloon or something like that, that area sucks too. it's tucked in the side by the bar and you can't see anything but that area.

The shooting might not be fair to the current establishment, however the OP asked why the wands, and this isolated incident was what came to mind.

I went to Drai's in February, and I don't recall being wanded in the table line, but the GA was getting wanded. I remember mentioning that to my friend.

I've had a backwall table at Drai's before. It's a solid spot for sure. Like Jose said, good views, never felt like I was far out of the action, etc. I didn't go up on the mezz but I wasn't a fan - seemed very secluded.

Yes insurance and casino policy can ask wands and metal detectors be used for certain artists or expected crowds. While it may be profiling, it's also generally very good and safe profiling and usually correct. It also deters a lot of people that do have bad intentions and doesn't steer away the people that aren't bringing in weapons and just came to enjoy the party. From being at Drai's almost weekly, I've also seen multiple people walk away and jump out of line when they saw others getting wanded just minutes before they themselves would have been wanded. So I say if the party attracts a certain crowd, then safety and people staying alive should be the priority and not people possibly being offended by being wanded.

If I have the choice of being shot or being wanded, I choose being wanded every day of the week lol.

So with this all above said, if I were doing a 2-2500 min table ....which would u pick marquee or drais. And what location are we comparing at each? Thx. Friday sept 11

I think you'll do well at either place for that minimum. The question really becomes the music/dj/performer on the specific night and how much they appeal to you. We had to choose between Benny Benassi at Marquee or Meek Mill at Drai's on our Saturday night so went with Marquee even though I had a great connect for Drai's. The director of VIP services at Marquee was our host and hooked us up with a great inside table for $1500 minimum after a $200 shake. Everyone in our group was really happy with the location and Marquee overall after the night was over.
