One more point on something in the original post that has not been discussed yet - I think there is also a difference between pitching for bottle service as a single person vs. doing so as a couple. When you're married, the cost of bottle service is doubled instantly, since you're paying for two people out of the same pool of funds.
I made my first trip to Vegas as a married man with my wife last month - and the bottom line is that the two of us just aren't going to drink a bottle's worth of vodka by ourselves. (Nor would I want her to try - if she starts throwing up, guess who's going to have to hold her hair and take care of her? That's married life!) All we wanted was to have a few drinks, dance, and have some fun. I'd much rather contact a host, get on a guestlist or give him a handshake to skip the line, and spend my $750 - $950 per night elsewhere.
Good point though about places getting over crowded without a table - we avoided Hakk for just that reason.
