As long as it is one of the MGM properties or a CLUB owned by MGM you can use it to bump up your account."The man on the top of the mountain didn't fall there"

Yes. Remember, the card gets you points at every MGM property. So every time you eat, buy anything etc bust out the card. I earned around 55k tier points this last trip without a table receipt. I'll be gold by the end of my next trip.Originally posted by BayAreaOlli View PostSo I can actually take my club receipt with my MLife card to a MLife counter and get credit for it even if I don't stay at a MGM hotel? Damn I didn't know that, heck that will help a lot when I come in a few weeks.Vegas trips

I used my LIGHT receipt for Mlife.Originally posted by ccc View PostLight should count actually. The club just has to be on an MGM property, but you can double check with Noah.

Yep. Any MGM club or anything on any MGM property. And you can put any receipt on any mLife card. I use my Hyde/Hakkasan visits to bump all my mLife buddies up to Platinum.Originally posted by ccc View PostLight should count actually. Well, to the OP...definitely try the "lower tier" clubs. They're actually my preference, because of the music. I've never had a bad table, and never spent $300/person...but I am usually with groups of girls, so that obviously factors in. We also still get bathroom escorts at those spots. I've actually never noticed the lack of that until my most recent trip when we were meeting up with some guys at the bigger clubs. I don't even know who or where our security was in those instances, but I also didn't pay as much attention since the tables weren't really mine.
You can also just try lounges and bars instead. I can understand feeling like it's a waste of money. It's expensive as hell, but as long as there are people willing to pay it- that won't change.I'm not bitchy, I'm just drawn that way.

Big clubs require big $$ and then decent tips to bussers, security etc. I have had great experiences with Hakk in that one of the high up managers escoted me through the back to the bathroom... which was a very nice touch.Originally posted by Tara Denise View PostWell, to the OP...definitely try the "lower tier" clubs. Yeah, but when I literally never see a security guy- as was the case- it's kinda hard to tip them to walk me to the bathroom. Lol besides, not my table, so tipping was not my problem. We all know the tier 1 clubs require more cash, but the OP hasn't enjoyed his experience there because of music and cost. So presumably going to 1OAK or somewhere like that solves the problem.Originally posted by AusVIP View PostBig clubs require big $$ and then decent tips to bussers, security etc. I have had great experiences with Hakk in that one of the high up managers escoted me through the back to the bathroom... which was a very nice touch.I'm not bitchy, I'm just drawn that way.

The simple explanation for why security won't walk you to the bathroom and you sometimes get bumped is that you only want to pay $300pp at a Tier 1 nightclub. I'm not trying to be flippant and I'm certainly not being derisive in any way; I just think that your efforts should be focused on finding a reality that better matches your expectations.Originally posted by Spock View Post1. Priced out. Unless a group of 6 can get two bottles of Vodka, some bottles of water, and a few redbull at a good (not primo, but good) table, for $300 PP at a top tier club, I am no longer interested.
...
3. Service is dropping. For example, wives/GFs used to get escorted to the bathrooms through the crowd. That has gone by the wayside.
4. Risk of getting bumped.
I would take some of the recommendations from ccc, BayAreaOlli, and others to heart - find a Tier2/3 club that has music you enjoy, a general layout you like, a crowd you can stand, a particular table that you love - and stick to it. Find a host there who's been there forever and will be there for a long time and establish a relationship with him. Hook him up for hooking you up and build that into your per person pricing. The greatest thing about Tier2/3 clubs (and even Tier1s on off nights really) is that once you become a regular and they know you, chances are they'll throw you locals pricing or B2G1s or even B1G1s or comp a bottle. And who knows, your host might even toss you a magical no min slip every so often.
I just think you'll be a lot happier if you don't walk into Tier 1 clubs and be unhappy if you pay more than $300pp or you get bad service. You're just setting yourself up for disappointment. Of course it's not right for clubs to treat anyone poorly when they're paying $300pp - I'm not saying that either. But it's just the way it is.
You'll get your time. It's all cyclic. Don't you remember 6-8 years ago when the only thing any major club on the Strip played was hip-hop/club hop? I used to have to go to Ice (yes, Ice... that deserted building on Koval and Harmon that no one's figured out what to do with yet) to see Paul Oakenfold spin, and there was pretty much no EDM anywhere else. Like I said... you'll get your time.Originally posted by WC_racer View PostCan't I've had that problem. Do agree witjcthat EDM stuff, it needs to go away...very far far away....in a galaxy far far away...bwahaha.
Frankly, it's easy (easier?) to justify bottle pricing when we're talking about headline DJs at clubs. I just threw a friend a Vegas bachelor party including one night at Marquee (Benny Benassi) and most of the guys had never really been to an EDM nightclub before, and a couple of them told me they had a better time at Marquee than live concerts of their favorite bands. Well, that's what it is, right? It's a concert. You're taking a talented, well-known artist and having him entertain you live.Originally posted by Brooklyn Marc View Post... while I am hesitant to get into the literal economics of it, obviously SOMEBODY is willing to consisitently pay these prices.
That's actually why I think Tier 1s with DJs I know and like are a justifiable deal, and actually a much better deal than what's offered by some random Tier 2 club with some random DJ that I don't know. Frankly it sucks when I go to some Tier 2 and even with say a B2G1 and lower bottle pricing and I'm still paying 50% of what I would to see Benny Benassi or Kaskade. To me (even acknowledging that sometimes the house DJ at a Tier 2 rocks it), that squarely goes into "not a good deal". That's how I look at it.

Pretty sure you're the male version of me. I actually like being further away from the dance floor b/c you are higher up. I'm like MY PEOPLE!!!!!Originally posted by Kinar100 View Post
I like skipping the line but MOST OF ALL I like being able to dance on a couch with girls in a dark noisy crowded place and have no one tell me I can't. I can pay 50-$100 for GA and try to get a girl (or guys i guess for the sake of devils advocacy) to let me dance on their couch but Id rather just pay the extra couple hundred for drinks and 6 hours of couch dancing. I am going to pay $50 + $100 for booze anyways. Might as well drop $300 to look cooler and...you guessed it! Dance on a couch.
There is just something about being all dressed up and fist bumping on my own rental couch that I love. I dunno. I like fist bumping and i am usually pretty energetic and when i am higher than everyone else I feel like I am the king of the fist bumpers.

The fundamental reason really is most people don't want to be a "GAW"
More seriously though there are a multitude of reasons why it just makes sense particularly for large groups of guys. The hassle free nature of it and the fact economics and common sense go out of the window in Vegas. If you think too much about the $40 bottle of liquor you'll forever be attempting to justify it to yourself. $20 for one drink doesn't sound overly appealing either!
(General Admission Wanker.....I'm joking)

And you do this without gambling at all?Originally posted by Cle View PostHere's my thing with this - If you charge it to the room you never get to see a Mlife member face to face, and that's kinda what they bank on. So to me, I take the receipt right to the counter and say "how bought a comp for the night?" I haven't been turned down once. Without seeing a person face to face and just going up at the end of your trip they don't see the same value in comping you as they would when they see you still have more "spending" left on your trip.
