SLS originally was considered a trendy hotel though, and that kept the crowd young and attractive when I went last year. I'm not seeing that changing in the near future due to the unique design of the rooms; look at photos of the Story Tower rooms and tell me anyone over 40 is going to want to stay in one of those.

My main issue with the Foxtail Pool was it's a pretty big venue unlike Tao Beach so it will have a hard time ever feeling full. I'm mostly concerned with DJ quality though, they had good DJs on a regular basis last year but I assume they couldn't justify their prices with how few people were coming. So now this year they started the season off with 3rd tier club DJs and got a rep for having low quality DJs, which isn't always what they are running, but again if you can't rely on a venue to be booking someone good, and they aren't putting out more than a month worth of a schedule, then I can't see the Jack Colton crowd ever really going.

When I was making bottle service plans for MayPac weekend, the thing that turned me off about Foxtail was the location.

I don't really get that argument. If you take a cab or an Uber to it, who cares where it is as long as it's not 10 miles away? I hear people talk about location a lot but I go during the hottest part of summer and no one is walking anywhere if it's outside your hotel. Back when we were limited to cabs then perhaps the cost really did add up for longer fares, but pretty much the worst case of Mandalay Bay to SLS is only $9-12 on Uber.

Not an argument. Just preference. Also notice I said MayPac weekend which traffic was horrible.

You're right that the hotel was marketed for younger crowds. I wasn't really thinking about it from that perspective so that was good input. And I do remember them having good dj's in the past, Stafford Brothers comes to mind, but lately I haven't seen that same quality of dj.

Regarding location, I think your reasoning is correct if in fact you are taking transportation to the club. I've always stayed at the north end and I usually go to XS, EBC, Omnia on my trips and those are walking distance so location does matter from that aspect. But if you were staying at a different hotel farther south, location of club wouldn't matter as much.
            2011: Palazzo | Tao | Moon

            2014: Venetian | Tao | Hak | EBC | XS

            2015: Cromwell | Drai's | Palazzo | Tryst | XS | Omnia | Nightswim

Best options, excluding side rooms, are probably Drais and 1OAK.

Drais seems to have the bigger acts which in turn should draw better crowds. I used to be a huge fan of 1OAK but it was kind of weak when we went last year, granted it was late April and not even summer yet.

Not a fan of The Bank and would not recommend Foxtail for reasons others have mentioned. Tao used to be a go to spot a long time ago but now it's pretty weak. I only check it out if I'm staying at Venetian/Palazzo and can get in free. The last few times I've been there it wasn't even crowded enough to have the hip hop room open.

Honestly it depends on your group and what's really important
If it's going to a quintessential Vegas club that you can't get in your hometown then suck it up and go to XS, Hakk, Omnia etc and spend some time in the side hip hop room if desired.
If it's going to find the best crowd/women - see above
If everyone is married/taken and the group just wants to have a fun night listening to the music they like best then do a hip hop club
              2016 (past) - none
              2016 (upcoming) - June 10th - 13th. Venetian. Invasion schedule

Im glad I brought up Foxtail now. LOL I'm just saying, keep an eye on it if you want hip hop....... and see who is DJing or appearing. Base your attendance on that. I just dont like to see a place overlooked because of a distance "issue".

The distance issue plays a role though if you're deciding to go based on how good the crowd will be.

All depends on what you're looking for though.

Nelly's gonna be there the night we'll be there (7-30-16). We got a cabana that day at Drai's so we're not gonna double dip.

Good move. Can't see myself going to the same club twice in one trip. Right now Saturday Night Travis Scott is gonna be at Drais, Sunday Night still trying to confirm

Yeah. It just puts a dent into looking for a prime hip hop spot that night. There's always the hip hop room at Omnia. Calvin Harris will be at Omnia that night.

I stand corrected. Martin Garrix is there that night in the main room and Devin Lucien is in the heart of Omnia. Calvin will be there Friday the 29th.

Just got back from Vegas with a group that prefers hiphop. Went to Drais Thursday (Esco), 1Oak Friday (DJ Conrad and DJ Karma), and Hyde Satruday. While Drai's was a damn good party on Thursday, hands down the best music was at 1Oak. Even though people are packed in their like sardines, with a DF table my group had ample breathing room. I used Chris Traer that night but Casey Rhyne looked like he was running the place. The lines were pure chaos when we arrived at 11pm and got us setup immediately skipping many groups in the bottle line. Casey and Chris acted like they were brothers and we were well taken care of.

When I go to a club I just need outstanding music and a good crowd. I could care less about who the "celebrity DJ" is. 1Oak absolutely delivered and at half the price of Tier 1 joints.
