"First off, Angel Management Group is preparing to spend some serious coin to lure the likes of Calvin Harris, Tiesto, Deadmau5 and Steve Aoki from the posh confines of the Wynn and Encore."

            those numbers are just insane

            more info: http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012...d-vegas-backs/

            notable quotes....

"Several of the clubs have been talking among ourselves, and we can’t compete with their numbers."

"They’re going to put several clubs out of business; not just one, but several!"

"The Hakkasan venture is bankrolled and backed by a mega-wealthy Middle East billionaire. He was a regular high roller at another luxurious Las Vegas nightspot but became disgruntled when he was turned down for a specific table that he wanted one night. He said he was disrespected; he said he’d open his own place to teach them a lesson."

Sounds rather like rumours to kick up interest in the place. And let's not forget Steve has a few billions of his own to throw around. I don't think he's about to let the MGM steal all the talent in town. But either way, Hakkasan had better be fucking good after spending all this money on it.
Is there any more info on the club itself btw, haven't heard much so far.

Also I think its pretty dumb to say anyone is going out of business. Even if everyone in Vegas wants to go there over anywhere else, limited capacity means other clubs are always going to have to exist. Whoever gave those quotes clearly isn't senior enough to have much idea of what is actually going on, so I'll take all that info with a healthy pinch of salt.

I agree with Matt in that I doubt he will be putting people out of business. It makes for a great story about building a mega club to stick it to someone. I am also curious about what the pricing for tables will be and some of the details of the club. This place will HAVE to pack them in to be successful. 65 million over 2 years to 2 DJs is crazy. If the guy is worth billions then it wont matter to him financially, but the club's P and L would be interesting to read

Which clubs are you guys thinking of when they mention venues going out of business?
I can most certainly see clubs who are already on their last leg go out of business because of other megaclub(s) opening. gallery, chateau and lax come to mind. They can hardly compete with wynncore, marquee and top tier 2 places as it is.

I dont think there is a shot in hell XS or Marquee will close. That isnt even in the discussion. I dont know what clubs will close because of MGM's new club. I dont think the clubs Dex mentioned are closing because of a new tier 1 opening. Used cars lots dont close because a BMW store opens on the same block. Those clubs will close because its their time to close

Hmmm, I was advised to not stay at MGM due to how far it is from the good clubs but this might just make me seal the deal and book here for AOD in July! Sounds legit

Okay, because of all the back and forth and doubt here's the opinion of someone on the inside and mostly in the know...

The DJs listed are signed under contract and confirmed to be performing with AMG at both Hakkasan and Wet Republic for this upcoming year. Don't be surprised if Pure starts having these DJs as well (similar to the way TAO Group used DJs at all three venues - Tao/Lavo/Marquee). This will lead to a very successful year for Hakkasan especially since the restaraunt (already in place and active in multiple big cities all over the world) is boasted as one of the best restaraunts in the world by many.

XS and Marquee may notice a little less business at the beginning of the season from the high roller 10k+ clients while they attempt to experience the hot new thing. However, these venues will by no means have any issue continuing to sale out which happens every single weekend night even to this day. Expect a rough door at the beginning but for it to loosen up once they realize they're being too strict and losing bar business that actually ends up making way more money then half the tables as well as losing clientele to the other venues they could use to fill a few dark corners.

AMG has hired a handful of new staff and is even branching out and grabbing an entire team strictly from LA/Hollywood to try and offset the current staff clientele that's used to frequenting Pure and LAX (will need some cleansing throughout the year). This part is really their only true concern, because that clientele is used to a less clean cut crowd and extreme bottle deals and discounts. Half of the management is from other big name companies with a very reputable track record which will be cracking the whip on some of the people moving over from the tier 2 and tier 3 venues currently staffed by AMG.

Expect a great year, great talent and great revenue from all new venues and a consistent revenue to continue for all the current top spots.

P.S. You may see a change in my signature shortly after the new venues open...

Thanks for all the info. always nice to know whats going on. and good luck with any new ventures that you intend to embark on.

whats interesting to me is that i thought this place would look out onto the back of the lion (although that isnt much of a view), but from looking at recent pics and the live webcam on their website, it looks like they've since boarded up the front. so im assuming this is a fully indoor type thing? or is it gonna be like tao/tao beach where the outside is on another level?
