How to get a job at a club?

If it's a busser, I think that number is a little high.
In some cases, a LOT high.

Also...some of these jobs are UNION jobs remember.

If so, what would be the average amount on the low end for a 'busser / server assistant at a club?'

or at what percent of the waitresses tips do they get? any info would be great.. although I feel that this subject might be forbidden to discuss within the industry as everyone that I have asked has never gave me a straight answer .. not sure though.

I'd say low end on a not tier 1-2 club, $30,000. I know I have considered coming out there to work as a bellman/valet many times. top hotels they make six figures, smaller lower end hotels, $30-40k and anywhere in between, so relative to being a busser. But like what has been said before, Vegas is so a who you know kinda town, you could easily end up going months without getting a break, until hopefully you meet the right person in a position to make your dream a reality. Ultimately what made me realize it wasn't for me was reading "Under the Neon Sky" by Jay Rankin, who was an ex-doorman at the MGM, some of his stories were just too much and made me realize Vegas is nice to vacation... Living there would more than likely absolutely ruin my life. He goes from making 100-200k, to quitting completely because of the events in the book, really an excellent read for anyone who likes Vegas, and wants to know what it's like day in day out.

A family friend that used to work at Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino as a chef told me that valets can make up to 6 figures per year. Likely a lot of that is via gratuity, so I think it depends on the level of service you provide to guests. I've had some porters/bussers give me great service and if I had more money, I would have definitely given them a bigger tip than the standard 20% gratuity.

On a side note: In one case, I had the worst service from a waitress for table/bottle service I will ever remember. I spoke to the nightclub host and security and I told them I wanted her removed from serving our table and I was very explicit in telling them that I didn't want ANY of our table/bottle service gratuity to be shared with her. (Simple reasons really: she rarely showed up to our table to see how we were doing, she refused to take pictures with one of the people at the table and it was his birthday & generally she had a bad attitude).

Large table network as in people who buy bottles? How would one get a network before even being a promoter though? Freelance?

I was a busser for a tier one spot for about three years, great piece of advice for you. If your interested in working at XS like you mentioned they are prob going to put you in as an on-call best case scenerio. Wynn properties have great advantages because they are linked with many restaurants the new Andreas and Botero. Suprisingly where it takes more knowledge of hospitality it takes less experience to get in, alot of nightclub bussers have zero grasp on hospitality therefore getting your experience in a lounge like setting will be easier to attain and will speak volumes on your resume. I started in the restaurant field and got a lucky break after they saw some hardwork and after sometime asking to be moved. As for them making 55k to 80k I'd say the only places where bussers make that money is Marquee or XS. I would lean more toards the the high to low 50 range def not 80k. Granted if you are working full time you will make a large amount, this kind of money like I said before are only for a select few places. Another option is to start out as a porter. A porter is simply a bussers assitant, with some other duties, but another great feeder into bussing. I would ask to have any position in the nightclub avail, keep portering in mind. Also in the interview remeber the basics be extrmely knowledgable about the brand and put any hospitality related jobs on your resume. If XS doesnt work out, dont worry this is a great time in Vegas to apply, Hakkasan is hiring, ShE is opening shortly, and the dayclubs will be holding interviews in a couple months. Always check out downtown as well especially with all their new bars they have arriving.

Some people just party so much and hang around a lot of people that buy bottles or buy a lot of bottles themselves so happen to have lots of friends that chip in on bottles as well. Those people generally go straight to host. To build yourself though you always start as a promoter. Some people even stay promoter just because their network is predominantly guestlist and girls and they don't sale many tables. Hosts only job is to sale tables. Promoters only job is to bring girls to the club and they just happen to get a bonus for bringing a few tables here and there.
