  • What are Tier 1 and Tier 2 nightclubs now?

With the ever changing nightclub scene and new ones popping up all the time and others losing their steam, which clubs are considered Tier 1 and Tier 2 now?

  • #2
There hasnt been any new clubs yet as far as I know. Hakassan hasnt opened yet and Bagatelle hasnt popped up in the map to make waves yet.

From what I hear and see 1OAK, Bank and Hyde seem to have gained steam amongst the top clubs. There's good momentum with what they have been doing at those clubs. Pure and Haze also are still up there as good alternatives to the always busy Marquee and XS

Tryst seems to have a limited DJ schedule lately. Only saw a couple nights where Jermaine Dupri and Calvin Harris was there summer and earlier in the year. All the top DJs seem to be scheduled at XS and Surrender. not as much at Tryst anymore.

There seems to be some changes at Rain too. I've noticed they had Wynter Gordon, Taboo, Disco Fries, and Wiz Khalifa just the last few weeks this summer. Rusko also had his residency at Rain for awhile now until it ended this Aug and he moved to Surrender/XS. I heard Playboy Club closed down and getting remodeled to something new also.

IMO ones dropping off the map or already have are ROK and LAX.

Surviving from an older/more laid back tourist crowd are Mix, Foundation Room, and Voodoo Room. So those will stay for awhile.

Clubs that are not in the tier 1, but can be very fun and easier on the wallet would be Gallery and Chateau. And let us not forget Tao. They are still a player

I'd actually consider Tao to be Tier 1.

There are those clubs like Tao and Tryst where people disagree on their tier. They are like 1b. I am not saying I disagree with Tao being a 1, just saying. I agree with Dex on his picks except I would put Haze in tier 2 as well.

haha 1b. ya I remember putting them in that category. Basically top notch, top service and talent, but not as mega club as likes of Marquee/XS.

So are Marquee and XS generally considered the top dogs now?

^ have you been to Vegas recently? IMO XS took the top once it opened up. Marquee was immediately up there the first day it opened up 2yrs ago. They pretty much set the standard to what many people are looking for in a mega club in Vegas.

Yeah definitely, the only thing that bothers me about Tao is the size compared to the other places.

                        My personal opinion

Marquee and XS are in their own tier. They set the standard for mega clubs in Vegas, biggest DJs and top notch talent consistently.

Surrender, Tao, Hyde, Tryst and 1OAK are tier 2 and can serve different purposes for different crowds.

Wouldn't consider going anywhere else at this point without a great deal

                          My opinion:

                          Tier 1
                          A: XS, Marquee
                          B: Tao, Surrender

                          Tier 2
                          A: 1OAK, Hyde, Tryst,
                          B: Gallery, LAVO, Chateau, Vanity
C: Rain, Pure, Moon, The Bank,

Everything else is pretty much in the slow process of death. Tier 2 B-C are also on the critically injured list.

"Fuck your friends, just do what you want to do" Aside from the more famous, "If you're not here, you're fucking up" AOD... Epic. "

Aria... Its been a year since i've been to the 2 B-C but the last time i was at Rain late last year seemed ok. And I had some friends that were there for DJ Jazzy Jeff earlier in the summer and they said there was a decent crowd. Basically at least they fill up the place. Gallery and Chateau though, I've walked in there late 2011 also and they were pretty dead on a weekend.

Pure and Bank I would say is not the same level as Rain. Its a notch above that IMO. I'd put Pure a better choice than Gallery.

B and C are pretty interchangeable depending on what you like. I hate The Bank with a passion

I think clubs like Pure, Rain, LAX, etc are only really getting business because of their name branding/popularity from about five to six years ago. If any of them want to be relevant again (which is quite difficult because of their respective spaces) they need to take a page from Jet ---> 1OAK. A refurbish, an expansion and a marketing change could really turn things around. Palms, Hard Rock and MGM are bringing new clubs to the scene as well which might speed up the death of the lower tiered clubs.

I think in terms of just resort aesthetics a lot of these older clubs cannot compete with the appeal of XS and Marquee on their respective properties. If you're in your 20's-30's, what's more appealing these days: The Cosmo and Marquee combo or Palms and Rain? Places like the Palms and Hard Rock have lost their key demographics to more "chic" resorts with bigger spaces for their club venues. Location plays a huge factor on the success of a club in Vegas.
