Hey me and another teammate will be in Vegas for part of the NBA summer league. We are not NBA players (yet, hopefully) we play overseas. How hard will it be for 2-3 guys (6'9", 7'1" and 6'7") to get into the different clubs? I know the guy rules and all that and we won't be drinking much (will be playing so we can't drink much), just don't want to wait in the huge lines and cover and all that. Last time we went they (Tryst, XS, Palms clubs) let us in because we played basketball and it was also during the NBA Summer League but I wasn't sure if that was an anomaly since it's Vegas.

Depends if you work it or not. I'm lucky enough that I've been to plenty of clubs with NBA guys before. If you tell them you are in town playing with a summer league team and will send teammates, things tend to go better. I've seen it done.Comment

Yea I would bring teammates, only some of them in the NBA and mostly rookies. Is it best to somehow get a hold of them a head of time or just go up to them when we get there?Comment

Haha thankfully no we will not be on Cleveland (no offense). I got a few emails backs from hosts after I mentioned NBA summer league and they said they would put me on their guestlists and a few said call or text when you get there if there's a line. Does that mean free cover? Should I tip them or is guestlist a usual thing? I also have groupon alerts and saw the vcard one. Is that worth it in your opinion? And last but not least, if we go to the two clubs we're trying to go to that night (based on your suggestions from before) can we get there early and get stamped/wristband and come back later to not wait in line? Will they see 2 stamps and not let us in? Sorry for all the questions but hopefully a few can be answered!Comment

Guest list should get you in free and no need to tip. If you can land guest list then no need for the vCard. Otherwise it's a good deal as long as you're not there on a holiday or blacked out for a big name DJ. Since you are going to be in town for at least 10 days, you should pick 2 clubs that you plan to go to. Find a host and introduce yourself. Get them courtside seats for a game or give them a look around the locker room (if those won't get you in trouble). Get them a game ball. Invite them to come and play video games in your hotel room. Hook them up with a few warm ups or other souvenirs. Tell them you have 20+ groupie girls that wanna follow you to a club.
Don't expect to get free entry into a club just because you are a tall dude that might be on TV someday. If you don't want to pay, then you gotta offer something in return.Comment
