What to do once you land...

Vegas vets what are some helpful tips you can think of once hotel is booked, nights and days are planned. Once we land in vegas (5 guys) do you recommend stopping and picking up booze, solo cups, jugs of water on the way to the hotel? Will cabs wait for you to run into stores? Is any place best? Is there any other helpful tips you guys can think of in terms of stuff to have in the room, quicker check-in, places to stop before getting to the hotel, anything to do during the day to make the nights more seamless, etc.

A cab will wait but the meter runs so i suggest you have a list and 1 person goes in and gets everything to minimize time you pay the cab to sit. Get booze and LOTS of water. Water bottles in the room are like $6 and constant hidration is key to staving off hangovers. Grab some jerky and granola bars. In a crunch they'll keep you going. Eye drops are a must if you have contacts and lip balm and moisturiser are key also. I come from a humid climate so the desert reaks havoc on me. Bloody fingernails and chapped lips arent a good look at the pool or the club.

If youre on a tight budget take cash and split it up by day into envelopes and put them in your room safe. Remove credit cards and leave them in your safe. Its easy to get caught up and destroy your credit card in the blink of an eye. Same can happen if you carry all your cash with you.

Also what do you recommend bringing to pool parties? Are credit cards water proof?

The grocery stores (Vons, Albertson, etc) also sell booze, so you can get everything in one stop.

Sometimes the cabbies get pissed for having to wait, they say they can make more $$ by heading back to the airport for another pick-up, so just make sure they know you'll tip them for waiting!
When I go with more than 4 ppl, we usually get a limo - we book in advance but you can also grab one from the airport if its not busy and they are waiting around.

Our driver always stops by a Walgreens that is on the way to the strip. I take a limo though, if I were using a cab I'd give them a specific location just to make sure they don't take you somewhere in the boonies.

I have zero experience with pool parties...so I won't be much help there. However, if I were to go I'd take my ID, CC or Cash, and sun screen. Nothing else...

I dont know what kind of room/setup your staying in, but last year we just ordered online from Vons. We had a huge suite with a large fridge so we stocked up for the week.

Prices seemed competitive, delivery was free and we didnt have to lug around cases of water/beer/pop.

How long did you have to wait for the delivery? I've always been tempted to try this but like to dump my shit and go, not wait around for a delivery. If delivery was quick or could be arranged for a specific time this would definitely be the way to go.

My tip - 5 guys should get a limo from the airport. The driver will stop for shopping and meet you in baggage claim as well. That cab line can be hell sometimes.

1) Land, get luggage, wait in the taxi line/ limo (make sure to let the cab know you are stopping by at the store BEFORE you start moving)

2) Head to Vons (1131 East Tropicana Avenue) and stock up on alcohol, protein shakes, bananas, WATER, gum, chasers, etc.

3) Check into hotel and go put $20 on black, let it ride 3 times (tradition)

4) Get settled into hotel, relax, the calm before the storm

5) Bump music and pop bottles. GO.

As for the pool parties, I usually just bring CC and cash. I ditch the phone at the room and let it charge so I can bring it out at night. Wear lots of sunscreen! Unless you have a cabana or something, there usually isn't much shade.

how do you bring cash if your going in the water and dont have a home base to leave a wallet? was thinking of just bringing a credit card, do you need cash for anything that a credit card won't do?
