  • Amex Black Card Concierge Service

Now...I don't have a black card, but a friend of a friend does. I've heard from somebody else that the concierge service can basically get you amazing table deals at the top clubs. Like dancefloor tables at a fraction of the cost.

Does anyone know if this is true? Would be good to get insight from any of the hosts on the board.

Obviously if true, I'll go to the trouble of harassing the friend of a friend to make some enquiries for us. Very much doubt that person needs to be in Vegas with us...we'll just need his name I assume.

idk one way or the other but conceptually it doesnt make sense
if someone has a black card why would they care about getting the table at a fraction of the cost? Given the amount of money us regular folks drop on nights out i would think someone with that kind of cash could drop 5-10k in a night easily.

MoFlo....I read your trip report...did you actually try because you were splashing the cash like it was going out of fashion.

And stop sending me those emails from nigeria asking for my bank account details please!

This is definitely not true. The Centurion concierge is no better than the Platinum card concierge.

The AMEX concierge is a little better if you are Centurion, more in that they are more likely to go a little more out of the way, but alot depends on the person you get if you want non-standard things.

All of that being said, while they are great at arranging things for you, the reason hotels, restaurants, etc. are so responsive to them is that there is (and should be) an expectation between all 3parties that you are going to be spending to match that credit card status.

If people with big AMEX cards started showing up and cheaping out, the concierge would be worthless... In the end though, they don't do anything you couldn't do yourself with a bit of initiative and the right approach outside of the standard 'perks' like advanced tickets etc.

We used my brother-in-laws Black Amex for a table at Blush over a year ago. Bottles were $300 a piece on a Friday night (we got 2). Inside table. He also used it at Pure a month before that on a Saturday night, same deal, but they only got 1 bottle since they only had 3 guys. Not sure where the table was though. So, there are some discounts, but it's not at Tier 1 clubs.

Also OP, you'd have to have the person w/ the card book the table w/ their cc. You can always pay cash when you get there, but you can't just name drop if thats what you're thinking.

Its possible that a host hooked up this deal (to gain the biz of a client with a black card), but I am pretty confident that Amex Centurion concierge had nothing to do with it.

The concierge is OK for booking standard reservations, but if you ask for something out of the ordinary they typically will get the same result as you would when booking yourself.

Some people make a big deal out of the card (like random gas station cashiers) but in Vegas no one usually comments on it at all. Last time I was at Tao when we checked in and I gave the host my card I'm not sure if he even noticed it.

                              This argument isn't valid.

First, just because you have money doesn't mean you need to spend it. Most people hate getting ripped off and no matter how much cash you have this won't change.

Second, when I go there's usually a big player in our group that gets everything comped, so we use our casino host to book tables and the location is always good and always very spacious.

Suppose 10 of us go into a booth that would normally cost $8k. Do you know how much alcohol that is? It's insane to think of getting like 15 bottles of alcohol for 10 people, most of whom are couples so it's not like we are inviting many girls back. On top of which getting tips comped is tough so you're still out of pocket quite a bit. Yeah, you could order $1,500 bottles of Dom but now you're just spending money for it's own sake.

Think of it this way, I can eat like royalty at McDonald's for $20, but there's no way I'm spending that much money there on myself. It's insane.
