Sorry if this is the wrong place for this question!

Where is the best/cheapest place to buy alcohol and water on the way from the airport to the strip? I'll be in a cab. I've heard about Lee's Liquor, but that isn't really "on the way." Any alternatives? Thanks in advance

i just buy it from the store of whatever hotel i'm staying in. theres no time to go grocery shopping in vegas. depending where you stay in may be a few dollars more or less. if its more i don't worry about it because i'm not worried about going bankrupt over a $5 or $10.

Some here have specific recommendations but I usually just use Google Maps on my phone to find a liquor store that's AWAY from the strip slightly and have the cab driver stop there.

The savings on the pre-game more than makes up for the minor additional cost of the cabbie.

Pro-Tip: pick a liquor store that prevents the cabbie from using the freeway to try and jack up your rate.

If your travels take you near Terrible's Casino, The Orleans, or The Gold Coast Casino all of their gift shops have reasonably priced liquor. I find the gift shops at the strip casinos are about 2x higher than normal price for liquor. Also all of the CVS and Walgreens have seemed to have fair prices.

Von's Grocery delivers to the strip hotels. Never ordered liquor from them but it may be worth looking into.

Von's is the best way to go from the information I received in my thread. Going in with another member to have it delivered straight to the room.

There's a Walgreens or CVS or something right by City Center that is reasonable. They have a fairly good selection.
Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

                    Thanks for the answers!
Vons has a special! first delivery is free The selection isn't as big as I would like, but it's a great option since I want a case of water bottles too.

As for bringing it in my luggage, southwest has some weird policy that it has to be specially packaged & I'm not sure if I want to go through the hassle. I'm looking into it though.

Really? I just took Southwest last week from Salt Lake to Vegas (killed me to change planes there and not have time to party) to New Orleans with booze in my checked baggage and they didn't give me any trouble. You just can't carry it on.

We usually have the limo stop before we get to the strip at a Vons/Safeway to load up on booze. (Vons also will deliever)

                        Other options on/near the strip
                        ABC Stores are resonable
                        Stagedoor is pretty cheap
I think the walgreens near Monte Carlo sells booze at a fair price too

Especially if you're anywhere near the City Center, have to second that Walgreens that is DIRECTLY on the way there. You will leave there wanting to kill someone since their self checkout machines never work correctly, but you'll have pretty much anything you need at Walgreens prices!

Also recently flew SouthWest with 5 liters in each of our checked bags. Cannot be Bacardi 151 or Everclear/Grain Alcohol. We put each bottle in a large 3 gallon freezer ziplock bag, and then wrapped each one in bubble wrap. You are limited to 5 liters per person, but since we had 4 in our group we did pretty well. Liquors super cheap here in WI, so even with the cost of the bubble wrape/bags we were way ahead of the game. Hope this helps!!
Never offer an open bar to a Wisconsinite... =)

                              this exactly.

We also packed a few liters each because of the price of booze in Wisco. I have these super-duty plastic bags from work + bubble wrap and had no problems.
