  • Doing the "up all night"

So this time around, me and one other friend are heading to Vegas a day ahead of the crew to get an extra night in (and because it's cheaper to fly Thursday opposed to Friday). We'll be checking into our Cosmo wraparound suite Friday morning, and considered getting a crummy room somewhere, but I was thinking: Why not stay up all night until check-in (10:00AM)?

I'm sure many have been in the same situation before. Besides the obvious (going to an after-hours, or gambling), what night owl activities did you partake in to stay awake?

I usually start with shopping in the afternoon that lasts until the evening. I go to dinner late 9 p.m. or later. After dinner I go nightclub of choice and party until closing. Then I go to Drai’s (or a strip club) and stay there until the sun comes up. Depending on how drunk I am, I might gamble or I might go to breakfast. After breakfast and gambling I hit up the sports book to place bets. By this time, it’s probably 10 a.m./11 a.m. and I’m ready to go shopping again.

I don't get this, I mean what is a room at the lower places on a Thursday, $40-50? Isn't there a good chance you will spend more just in that few hours waiting for the room from Drai's to check in or gambling until then. If it were me I would rather get a few hours sleep in knowing my friends are coming in and it is only going to get worse with sleeping and dirnking.

But assuming you are going to go for it anyway besides the obvious choices, once the sun is up in the morning, go do something "touristy" whether it be walking to the sign and taking pictures or grab the bus and go downtown for a bit. Another great option is hoping there are some European Soccer Leagues going on with games that day and findiing an open sports bar or book and hang out there and watch the game with people who are sure to either be diehards or drunk.

I pulled an all nighter last year MDW, I arrived in town Saturday evening, didnt have room for that night (due to prices were outrages, even for piece of crap rooms). And my friends already been in town for few days were trashed, couldnt meet them or talked to them all night.

So I bar hopped for a while, went to hardrock for Tiesto's show, left the show around 6 in the morning, went to Vanity for Tiesto's after party for few more hours. Gambled at hardrock for a bit then ate at Earl's and it was like 10 in the morning already. Went to my hotel (Palazzo) and they had a amazing room just became available and checked in right away.

Damn, girl...Red Bull and Vodka must be your drink of choice.

or you do the simple way: after all the usual stuff during the night until early morning go to the check in and ask if you can go to the pool until your room is ready. you can either drink on or just take a nap there

A room at Bally's runs about $60 that night, but I think spending that money on gambling and late night debauchery makes a better recipe for my trip report

Usual check in times are 3pm. The last three times I went to Vegas my room wasn't even ready by 3pm. So, there's a chance that you'll be there for 20 hours without a room. This make ruin the rest of your trip. I say just get something.

I did this, but it was an all nighter b/c my flight left at 6 am, so I didn't see the point in going to bed. When I woke up as my plane landed, I found I was wearing the most random assortment of clothing. But hey, that's what happens when you have a comped daybed at Wet Republic followed by a night of bottle service at XS.

I've seen the sunrise twice in Vegas. The first time was on purpose - a bachelor party night that ended at a strip club early in the morning. The second time, I was gonna crash at around 3 in the morning but decided to do a few more hands of blackjack. Ended up sitting next to this smoking hot woman and next thing I know, I'm taking her out to breakfast after gambling together all night (I know, should have taken it to one of our rooms but it wasn't an option with the roommates we had). Of course it helped that during that time, I had won enough to cover breakfast (plus my hotel plus my flight to Vegas - it was a good night).

Any time I have tried this it makes for a terrible next day. Even if it costs a hundred its money well spent. Like others have mentioned most rooms aren't ready til the afternoon.

I dont know about most rooms are not ready by ''3 PM'' or afternoon argument. Everytime when I arrived super early in the morning I got room by 11 A.M. And as I stated earlier I got room that early during MDW @ Palazzo. Not everyone in Vegas there to party, there are lot of people checks out super early in the morning or there are lot of cancelations, or maybe I got lucky everytime. lol

agreeddd! and ive heard cosmo has a tendency to overdo it with late check outs so that its almost always an afternoon check in for the people arriving since housekeeping gets in later to clean

Its very easy being up till 10am...after parties, strip clubs, dennys, slots, etc.

But when your friends get there, are you guys going to want to go again or will you still be sleeping?

a room at IP would prob even be cheaper then ballys and its a decent place for what you pay.
