The difference between Tao and Light Group is the hospitality by far. Tao managed to stay rocking because of good service and of course because it remains a focus of Jason and Noah even while opening up new clubs (Marquee) if Light Group is going to be having alot of say which so far they are ruling this thing it looks like, it will be just another property owned for them like a real estate project. Richie, Scott, and Ronnie are genious if they have their input, this place will be the next new spot. Looking to commercial for me so far. I will be attending a walk through on Thur, will let you all know how it looks.

Scott is a good friend of mine, and I can tell you they never would have gotten involved in the partnership if they weren't going to be able to do it their way. They have a brand and a reputation to protect and could have easily just opened their own spot if they wanted to go that route.Originally posted by Alics View PostThe difference between Tao and Light Group is the hospitality by far. Not sure what you mean by "commercial." Vegas nightlife and NYC nightlife are very different. They are going to try to have some exclusivity at 1 Oak Vegas, but there's no way they can have the same kind of door in Vegas as they do in NYC. Too much competition in a one-mile radius and the Vegas location is also a lot bigger.
I look forward to hearing what you think of it after you tour it.

A couple of points.Originally posted by Universal View PostYou really think they're going to close the place down for four months, partner with some of the best in NYC nightlife, do a complete remodel and then just do the same shit they did with Jet?Originally posted by Darryll View PostJET round 2
There will be a different crowd, different musical focus, different level of service and a completely different vibe. You seem to harp on the space itself, but there's a lot more that goes into the overall experience. There's nothing overly impressive about the space Tao is in, but it continues to kick ass year after year. And I expect there to be a lot of similarities between Tao and 1 Oak.
1. JET was insanely profitable. So the same shit would still work for it.
2. Lots of nightclubs close down and re-brand themselves (either through different owners or the same owners); it's necessary because no places stays the "hot spot" for very long. Can't remember what the "Bank" was before but it was literally a decor and name change.
3. The crowd will be the same - maybe not the same as JET was, but the same Vegas crowd and will simply draw on those chasing the latest and greatest venue. XS lost traffic to Marquee when it opened, and Marquee will lose traffic to 1OAK, and 1OAK will lose traffic to etc etc. I'm sure 1OAK will be one of the hottest clubs in Vegas for at least a year, until the next big thing opens up.
Overall, this is very likely to be a success, even though the intimate and 'exclusive' vibe that keeps getting mentioned isn't going to be there (still not quite sure what that word means - are we talking attractive only?)

Alics.. it will be like that for 3 months.. and then turn into a typical vegas club.. been around to see everything open up for the past 6 years... all the same.. cant piss off locals or hotel employees... or you wont have a club.. I wish them luck.. but it will be just another club..Originally posted by Alics View PostHey guys, wanted your input on the new spot out here set to open New Years. Originally from NYC area so I know all about it, been there multiple times, one of the best clubs in the country. But im praying this place doesn't become the next Bank or typical Las Vegas club. I've read millions of articles online about how Butter Group, is really pulling out all their stops. Like making there doorman come out here, rather than having fifty flamboyant hosts at the door. Just hope this place does not change anything about its original NYC entity. Personally I feel Las Vegas is a terrible place for this spot, this club is about exclusivity, and we all know in Vegas its about the highest bidder. Feel LA would be the perfect fit to franchise it. Hopefully the Light Groups partnership and there tendency to dis-include hospitality in their service will also not be an issue. This place was a staple in NYC for a long time, and hopefully it takes over as the new Foundation Room rather than the new Christian Audgier Nightclub. Heres a video that got me pumped.

I hope they did something different.. and not just change the upholstery on the couches.. I look forward to seeing what they have..Mikey T

Location location location. Tao is at Venetian and they do insane business there. Wynn and encore are the best hotels and have the best line up of clubs. Cosmo is a hot spot, so is marquee. Mirage is a great yet older place and jet was what it was. We'll have to see what 1oak has to offer to gauge how it'll do.
Just look at Nikki/rpm, its harder for them because of tropicana. Another example is savile row. Exclusive but not at times and not busy at times. Good peanut butter and jelly martini! Lol. For this reason, I think hyde will do well because it's location at bellagio.** Lifestyle Entrepreneur

Some spots will always play 2nd to others. It'll happen at some point of its life cycle. I remember when my group of friends always went to Tryst. Then it became XS, then Marquee. But the occasional Bank, Jet, Prive, LAX happened on occasion.
If 1OAK becomes a hot spot, it'll be the place to be.. for awhile, then it'll join the ranks of the "older" spots like Gallery, Studio54, etc.
First impression makes a difference, then retention of clients has to keep happening. Marquee, XS, Surrender are the most consistent ones with top performers all the time. So it keeps those clubs in the top of the chain. I noticed alot of celebrities were poppin up at Gallery and Chateau during the summer then they just died out. Was really hoping they would continue with the momentum, but oh well.***Feb 2012 - Aria - Marquee *** March 2012 - Encore - Marquee, Surrender
***May 2012 - Aria - Marquee, Surrender ***June 2012 - Cosmo - Marquee, XS, EDC
***June 2012 - Aria - Marquee ***July 2012 - Monte Carlo - XS
***Aug 2012 - Aria - Marquee, XS ***Oct 5-6 - Monte Carlo - Marquee

The Mirage has one of the best locations on the strip and is hardly in the same class as the Tropicana.Originally posted by redbullvodka View PostLocation location location. Like I've said in the past, I'm not suggesting 1 Oak is going to revolutionize nightlife in Vegas. I do, however, think it's going to be more successful than many believe just based on what I know about the guys who are running it.

Great thread, I don't think 1oak will be as successful as people think. You have to remember Vegas attracts global visitors, most of which can give a shit less how incredible the club is in NYC or LA. If they did then Jay Z's silly 40/40 club and LAX would be killing it. Initial success is a given but longevity, no way. you have to have a awesome property then you actually have to offer something to people. Rather it be the ambience and attraction inside the club or celebrity guests and performers. All it takes is dozens of normal run of the mill Vegas goers to give bad reviews through social networks , yelping and bad reviews and it allready going to be a uphill battle to survive. People will not stay in line for hours for a average club and if it sticks it's nose in the air cause it's the shit in manhatten or Hollywood or whatever, just ain't gonna work.Appreciate Vegas
Next Trip 4/26!

They are well aware of that and don't plan to take that approach. They know how much competition is literally steps away and how much different the Vegas scene is from NYC.Originally posted by IRockNvegas View PostGreat thread, I don't think 1oak will be as successful as people think. I feel the Darby one of their NY spots could work out here, rat pack inspired. Impromptu performances, I mentioned this above and some didn't agree this could work, I beg to differ. There are dozens of celebs visiting at a time, and having such a supper club with live performances is what could work in this city. I feel a 1OAK in LA would be better fitted and a Darby type supper club in Vegas is what is needed. Its something different yet reminiscent of Old Las Vegas when Sinatra ruled this town. Enjoying a great meal while listening to super star singers and bands could fill a certain void here.
