Lol, I'm obviously extremely biased towards LA being the better place regardless of what the competition was. I don't know much about Seattle beyond being there for one weekend while I was stationed at Fairchild AFB in Spokane.
    All good. Just messin'.

But seriously, this guy is from Denver. If he's into outdoorsy stuff, everything available in Colorado is within a 30 to 40 minute drive of Seattle (hiking, skiing, etc.).

As for EDM, there is a pretty great scene in Seattle. It's actually one of the places where the music thrived for years before going mainstream in America (Decibel Festival...look it up). Also, C89.5 FM is based out of here, and they've been playing dance music for decades. And a new club just opened that is absolutely great (I say that in terms of it being Seattle). The first month has Manufactured Superstars, Sasha, Dirty South, Crystal Method, Paul Van Dyk, Norman Doray and more. It's a great scene.

I'm not saying Seattle is the greatest place on Earth (personally, I'd like to get out for awhile somehow). But for someone looking to relocate, it's a great option, especially if they're coming from Colorado.

Not trying to battle here. LOL. Just making convo. Alot of people I know have a misconception that Socal is all beach and sun. We also have a mtn range that has several places for skiing/snowboarding that is within 30-60min from central socal. I actually know more people that are into snowboarding than into beach activities.

California to me has alot to offer as far as different activities, outdoor or indoor. You can hop on over that mtn range and you're in a desert environment with dunes and trails for off roading. Bunch of lakes within 2hrs to go water skiing and boating too.

I live on Capitol Hill in Seattle and I love this town. Coffee, hiking, techno, hipsters, PBR, salmon, Microsoft, Boeing, lakes, Sounders, Amazon. Canada is 3 hours away, Portland strip clubs, also 3 hours away. Many Colorado transplants really like Seattle and I think it really depends on what you're looking for.

On a more serious note, Washington is pretty stable, economy-wise, uneployment rates are low, crime rates are low, roads are good, public education is thriving. Really depends on your priorities and interests!

Capitol Hill? I was looking to move to that area but holy cow, all Craigslist ads are showing $1700 for a 700 sqft studio. Am I looking at the wrong places because I can't seem to find anything cheap in actual downtown Seattle.

I really like WA as well because of the higher salaries overall, better public transportation since everything is more condensed, and of course the high density of asian chicks. Mind you, I know LA has a ton of asians as well but I heard it's more laid back in Seattle.

I'm still looking at both places and am going to jump on whoever offers the job first.

There really isn't anywhere to live in Downtown proper, outside of expensive condos. Belltown, First Hill and Cap Hill border Downtown (in terms of good livability). And yeah, places can be pricey. Check out Lower Queen Anne (the south and east slopes of Queen Anne) or Eastlake if you want to be close to Downtown and for a more reasonable price. Further out, I suggest Ballard or the Greenlake area.

You don't a really want to live in Downtown Seattle. After 9pm the DT business district is occupied by bums, people don't really live there. Look at Cap Hill, South Lake Union and Queen Anne - these are closest to downtown if that's where your job would potentially be located. Also, Ballard, Fremont, Greeenlake and Madison Valley are also great options. Don't go south, it's sketch :/

Realistically you're looking at $850 to $1K for a decently sized studio/1br in any of those neighborhoods. You're seeing $1,500 up in new construction most likely, which there is quite a bit popping up. Most of the older apartments are updated/remodeled but still cheaper than new ones. Also, keep an eye out for condos for rent, those will have more amenities.

Feel free to PM me if you have more ???

No wonder why you hate Washington, you were in Spocompton! That's almost as bad as a place as Crackima in Central Washington. But to the op, if you like to hike, fish, hunt, and go out clubbing and do the city thing, Seattle is a good area.

I'll chime in here, since I grew up in Orange County and now live in Denver... If you like the Denver life, DON'T move to LA... It's nothing like Denver, like what WT661 said, it is so diverse and large. Denver is small, Castle Rock to Boulder is like 1/10 of SoCal (honestly probably less). That being said there is an shitload of stuff to do in that large and diverse of an area. I left because, I fell in love with Colorado and everything it has to offer, especially being 1 hour away to some of the best snowboarding in the country, thats a big factor in why I have been here so long. LA your 2 hours to big bear, 5+ to Mammoth for real snowboarding (or any mountain activities)..

Whats driving you to move anyways?

I stayed in Downtown Minneapolis for a couple days last week...while I enjoyed the city for a couple days, I always appreciate all the space I have at home after trips like that. Sometimes....you don't realize how good you have it....it's actually nice living in the middle of the country, makes traveling anywhere pretty reasonable as far as time and cost.
Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

I've lived in Colorado for most of my life. Was born and raised in Colorado Springs with some of it on the east coast by NYC. I'm just looking for something new and different while I'm still young. Really wanted to get a feel for different cities. I love snowboarding/skiing so that might be a deterrent of Orange County, people kept telling me that the mountain activities don't differ that much from Denver to there.

Do you go out a lot here in Denver? I'm sick of the nightlife here as well. Everytime I go out, there's always a group of douchebags wanting to fight somebody.

Yeah, LA/OC lots of people are into skiing/snowboarding, keep in mind its the birthplace of surfing and skating, as well as the first winter X Games being held at Snow Summit, and Summer X Games are of course always in LA. Plus there is a plethora of other action sports related events, i.e. the US Open in Huntington. If you aren't into riding man-made snow or rails, the Southern California mtns will suck for you, and you will find yourself making long weekend trips to Mammoth to ride anything decent.

I work in the bar scene (still a student), so I don't go out on weekends very much anymore (even when I take them off I prefer to get out of town), but yeah, our bar scene is not one I tend to take part in often. The club scene is ghetto, I don't partake, I've yet to go into the club part of Chloe, but I've seen enough to know not to bother. Beta could be a really good club, if they stopped letting in 18 year olds, its a shame that sound system goes to waste. But all this just motivates me to go to Vegas more, hah!

Yeah, Beta has an amazing system but the 18+ makes it meh. As for Chloe, I've never gotten in even though we've gone in with a 4girls/1guy ratio so I could care less about it.

I guess I'll just wait and save my weekend money for vegas trips lol.

In regards to nightclubs in Seattle, there ain't much. There are only about two (soon to be three) that would ever see my money, in terms of a "big" night out. The Munch Group (former Pure Management, basically...they run Munchbar at Caesar's, for example) have set up shop here, and are about to open their second venue. And there's the club I mentioned earlier that is EDM focused. So while things are slowly changing, it's probably not going to expand much beyond that.

Not like that will influence your decision at all, but just tossing it out there to give you an idea of what to expect in terms of clubs.
