Lol or a crazy woman! Cross-fit is fun (except fo the burpees); Paleo...not so much. Lol but it's just a few months, I can try! No pain, no gain and this girl wants abs!
Tara I'm sure you're being hard on urself...you'll be ready in 12 weeks
It won't hurt to give us (your very closest of friends) a before/after shot for a private honest and kind critique....hint

Hahaha well I admire your shamelessness. ;-)

6 Am workouts? Down 13 lbs? Ah! I love the inspiration! Literally any other time I mention working out, all my friends from here are like "oh my gosh why would you want to do that?" *sigh* oh Alabama.
I'm not bitchy, I'm just drawn that way.

Couldn't agree more. 530am workouts for me and they've been thoroughly kicking my ass. Coupled with a few cardio sessions after work...fml

Yay, a fellow CrossFitter!!! I've been doing it almost a year now, and I'm completely addicted. I actually convinced myself to sign up for the Games this year. Not sure what the hell I was thinking, because I'm SO not ready for that! Hahah!! I just look at it as a big science experiment.

Paleo is really hard for the first 3 weeks. If you haven't been eating like that all along, the weight will start to fall right off around the 1 month mark. You'll feel like crap those 3 weeks, while your body adjusts, but once you get beyond that point, you'll feel amazing! Let me know if you need any help/recipes/pep talks!!!
Oh, P-tr-ck, I STILL need to borrow your German Leg Breaking Machine....Thx.

Can you explain what the Paleo diet consists of ? What to eat / what not to eat?
EastCoast: "I will preach. Vegas is easy. So easy. Either be rich or good looking (or mooch off someone who is one of those). If you are neither, then sit back, let the rich and/or good looking people sort their shit out, and then take their scraps. Booking early is not going to get you ahead of the rich and/or good looking people. Sucks unless you are rich or good looking. But that's what makes Vegas so great. It is completely transparent."

          • The simplest way I can put it is you can eat meat, veggies, fruit, nuts, seeds. You don't eat dairy, grains, or legumes (beans/peanuts/soy). You eat when you're hungry, don't count calories.

The thinking behind it is that our DNA hasn't really evolved much from when we were cave people, hunting and gathering. Our bodies haven't really adapted to things like grains and dairy that came about when people started settling down and farming, so we don't process them very well (people are lactose intolerant/gluten allergies/whatever the new thing is this month).

            Here's more detailed info:

Everyone at my gym swears it's amazing (lol and not just the coaches, so I know they must be telling the truth). I'm sure I'll feel great, I've just never been good at depriving myself. I tend to do fine all day then break down and eat more bad stuff than if I'd just had a normal portion during the day. They get meals delivered that I can just pick up, so hopefully that'll help me stick to it!

And wow!! I doubt I'll ever be ready for the Games! Lol I'll just be glad when I can actually do the workouts as prescribed!

Hahaha well at least it was tasty! :-) Just try nto to let a set-back derail your entire plan. That's what my problem always is- I fall off the wagon and just stay off! DOn't accept defeat!

Ugggh and I start Paleo tomorrow! Not sure what I'm gonna do when I'm away and can't get my pre-made meals, but I will figure that out when the time comes!

                  • Down 15lbs...12 to go in 8 weeks
Diet: Meat, Veg, Legumes, nuts. Carbs one day a week (for a treat)
Biggest hurdle is laying off booze...but progress is making it much easier.
Gym: Xfit 1/week, 15min abs every day, 20min cardio & free weights 2/week
Like all great travelers, I've seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.

I hear you on that - I'm doing a cardio focused Insanity/P90X hybrid - workouts 6 days a week: 2 lift days, 3 hard core HIIT/Plyo type cardio days, and 1 total body cardio (think kick boxing). Pair that with a high protein / low carb diet and I plan on trimming down at least 10lbs before end of April.

Booze/beers will be my downfall though....

                        • Check out the forums at bodybuilding.com. It's much better for helping you gain the info you need. Your going to need to increase protein to 2.5 grams for every pound you weigh. The you need to eat about 500 more calories everyday then you are using to you can gain weight. Then you need to lift heavy. Do reps of like 6-10 for and like 10 sets per body part. Give yourself like 120 sec rest between sets so you recover and get a good heavy lift on the next set. Take a multi vitamin but don't waist your money on a buch of junk that doesnt work. Building muscle is harder than loosing fat. The first year you lift you might gain 6 or 7 pounds if your do it right. But after that about 4 pounds a year. Just lift heavy. Work one body part everyday. Get more info on bodybuilding.com and eat eat eat. Most importantly be the best you. Be the best you can be and don't worry about others and comparing yourself.
