I think as long as you don't work in the "industry" then you won't have to worry about partaking in the actual Vegas lifestyle 24/7.

Thought I would top this as I just began interviewing for a position based in Vegas. I am not sure if I would take it, but figured I should listen to the job and see if the position is a good fit

By the looks of all the online calculators, it runs about 15-20% cheaper on cost of living than Baltimore, and in looking on craigslist the places seem cheap for housing. If the cost of living really that low minus the entertainment expenses?

There are deals on housing in the Vegas area. Just research as much as you can before making a big move. I had friends that moved their business from CA to Vegas. They were successful quick but they chose a house that looked all brand new in what seemed like a real good neighborhood, but it was the total opposite. The area ended up being not so good, house got broken in a couple times, etc.

Basically, there are great areas of Vegas and there are not. Research where you want to move and see if its the place for you. Keep in mind that the strip is not all what living in that city is all about. All the locals I know avoid that area as much as they can unless they really have to go there. Unless youre in that industry, the life you live will be away from all that. So see Vegas for what it is away from the strip and casinos and make your decision from there if thats the place you like to be.

I had thought about it once too. But good jobs/industry can be scarce from what I understand, and the school system is crap. Though you could transfer within your company, and I'm guessing you don't have kids anyway, just something to note.

Obviously everyone has a different opinion and you just need to find out for yourself. With that said you need to ask yourself 1 question....Can I just pick up, transfer my job and move to Vegas. If the answer is yes then go for it, try it out and see what you think. Worst comes to worst you move back or somewhere different. Do it now while you can and have nothing holding you back. If you dont you might regret it down the road.
