Sin city, that is! For those looking to make Vegas their home, which areas should one avoid? Any high-rises within a 5 mile radius from the strip that won't break the bank?

And the north. I live in Summerlin close to Red Rock and I would venture to say it's a nice area to settle down in, and only 20 mins to the strip.

Avoid any part of boulder highway, anything called north las vegas (north town) anything around the strip thats not a high rise and areas of UNLV/ airport. Summerlan, Southern Highlands, Parts of Henderson, Spanish trails, Desert Shores are all great areas.

Wow. I am paying more than that for a crappy new-build townhouse in the sticks with shitty neighbors. *ponder*

The house i owned was 2k a month (3k sq ft, 5 bedrooms, loft, 2 car garage). I have since changed my living situation (and girl friend) and now have a 1300 sq ft apt for under 1200 a month (3 bedroom)

Wow, I can't get over how cheap stuff is out there. In Madison, WI you can't get a house in a nice neighborhood for anything less than $450k, and those are rare, usually its closer to $600k. Heck, even in the tiny town I live in (population 2000, only 'restaurant' is a Subway, 2 gas stations, 6 bars) you can't get into anything nice for less than $280k. I pay $2300 a month for a 4 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 car, fireplace, tile/berber townhouse on a 1/4 acre corner lot with a creek (aka, mosquito factory). It was built poorly by the lowest bidder, neighbors that own other half are jerks, etc.

I think I need to move to Vegas and start doing SOX/PCI/HIPAA audits at around $3k a week...

Come to Stevens Point - things are CHEAP here.... but even more of "the sticks"
