Looks like I might have a new Favorite game thanks to Chuck. I have no idea how to play this but i'm going to Biloxi for Spring Break so looks like I will be downloading some Android Apps and try my luck there before hitting the big leagues in Vegas.

1 Million thanks to Chuck again for introducing me to this game. I spent night after night during Spring Break on this game betting on the banker and ended up with over $4k Total. Now i'm saving it for my Vegas trip.

I think I'll chime in with a little story I had while playing Baccarat for the first time my last trip. We were on Fremont St., at the Il Cortez. The only mini-bac table that was there was a $5 minimum, so I figured what the hell. At first we were on the craps table; I lost $100 before we went to the bac table. Over a period, definitely got the money I lost on craps back. On the last day of the trip, just bet on banker pretty much the whole time (the banker was winning ~2/3 of the time) and walked with an extra $200 before we headed to the airport.

Side note, does anyone know if there's any mini-bac tables on the strip with reasonable minimums, or do I have to head to Fremont/off-strip?

This might be a dumb question but I can't find the answer anywhere.

How do you pay the commission? I understand the dealer keeps track of it while you pay.

Do you pay it all at the end? What if you run out of chips?

Or, do you pay it off as you go? Ie: wait till it is at $5 or $10 and pay it off? Can you see what your comission is at while you're playing?

also, what are the typical prices for strip casinos? min bet?

I've played both ways. The first time I played, it was downtown at the Il Cortez. There, they had a running commission (almost like running a tab at a bar). There was actually an instance here where my bro had a commission still to pay, and no chips left, in which he threw down another $50 or so to keep betting/pay it off. At one point, I had to give up a $20 lump sum since they didn't take it as you won. When I played at Caesar's and Flamingo, it was the opposite, and it was a cut out of your winnings. Basically, the commission is a percentage of your winnings (typically 5%), provided you bet banker. So at Flamingo, if I had won $10, they would give me a $5 chip and four singles, with 2 quarters. I would typically set this off to the side (the $4.50) as my commission tab, so I wouldn't have to receive change every time I won, since I usually bet banker. Hope that answers your questions.

Anyhoo, onto the juicy stuff! My last trip which ran from late May to early June, just a couple situations. Post-clubbing at Omnia, I came across a table at Caesar's with a $25 minimum (Tuesday late night). 'Not bad,' I thought. Plus I was drunk with nothing else to do, so why not? I got streaky, banker started popping up, ended up winning about $175 over the course of maybe 15 minutes. My next experience was the day of my flight home. Had nothing to do, didn't want to drink, so I wasted 5 or so hours at a baccarat table at Flamingo ($10 minimum, but this was a Wednesday). Yes, I'm aware I probably looked pathetic. So I'm going back and forth, pretty much breaking even for an hour. Then an unlucky streak of player hits royally fucks me. I'm down $200. So, of course, I throw down another $100 in hopes to win it back.

A couple hours go by. I'm only down $100 now. I look at the screen, notice player has won the past few hands. Bet banker. Only down $50 or so now. Bet banker again. Etc, etc. etc. By the time 6PM rolls around, I've had enough and I want to get my bag and head to the airport. Only problem was, I was down $125 or so out of an original $300 on the last hand. 'I'm not cutting my losses,' I think to myself. Either I win money, or I lose it all. So, I went all in, on the last hand of the last deck that I saw. Ace and a 6 for the player. 'Great,' I thought. Not exactly the hand I wanted to be up against with so much on the line. Face card and an eight for the banker. Boom. Fuck yes. Natural eight baby! Walked away with $340, up $40 from when I sat down. Now, that isn't much over a 5 hour period, but hey, better than losing $300, and it passed the time. Either way, it definitely felt good to actually win money, considering the situation I had been in a few hours prior.

So far, I still haven't technically lost money playing baccarat. I love it.

I am also a baccarat player. Just spent the past week in Vegas and played baccarat approximately 3-5 hours every night. I will say, as minimums are concerned I did not notice a difference in minimums from the weekend to week days. For people looking for smaller minimums on the strip I noticed a few lower minimum tables. The flamingo had 2x mini baccarat tables for a $10 and $15-$25. Also the Cromwell has mini baccarat table that is either $15-$25. Of course, both tables in consultation with the pit boss will bump up the minimum from $25 to $100 and create a midi baccarat game where the players will get to handle cards. The benefits of handling and folding the cards actually does add to the suspense and fun factor at the table. When an individual folds the cards you hold onto the corners to prevent you from seeing the number and you gently fold to peak at how many symbols are showing. If you see 2x symbols on the side you know its a 4 or 5, or if there are 4x symbols showing you know you have a 9 or a 10 and so on. Some guys will also peel back and see a face card and then stab the other card in the middle to hopefully reveal a symbol. If so they will slam the card down showing a natural 9. You can also rip the card in half if you lost, casinos don't really care what you do the hand when your betting $100 minimum. I will say from my experience this week, I enjoyed playing at the Cromwell the most. The drinks kept coming before I was done my last 1, and also the dealers were alot younger and more fun in comparison to the other casinos. We were playing a $15 dollar minimum, until another guy game along and asked pit boss to move the minimum to $100 to a midi baccarat game so he could handle the cards. The pit boss has no issues with the people at the table to play on top of him either. When betting banker, they would take the 5% commission immediately off when they handed you the winnings. Good luck all.
