Are there any places in Vegas that play alot of hip hop music? I am planning a trip there in October and I'm trying to create an itinierary that includes at least one hip hop club.

    Thanks in advance everyone!

Crown is almost exclusive Hip Hop, but might not be the scene you're looking for.

      LAX
      Vanity
      Moon
Jet (closing in about a month)

All good options, much better than Crown.

Crown is the only true hip-hop club in Vegas (though unpopular on this forum among the JC crowd for some reason).

See facebook.com/crownhookup for pics and you'll see it's extremely popular in almost every other circle.

I'm interested in going to crown sometime.

I'm not on this whole EDM bandwagon.

I think it loses popularity because it doesn't really distinguish itself from a Hip Hop club that you'd find in any big city, so for that reason it doesn't draw a crowd looking for new experiences.

              There's only one XS.

              There's only one Tryst.

There's two Marquee's, but the one in New York is nothing like the Vegas Marquee.

With all due respect, that's not true at all. First of all, Crown is EXTREMELY popular among a primarily urban crowd. There's a huge 2+ hour line every single weekend and the spot is completely packed ($30+ cover). And it *does* distinguish itself in that its a HUGE 1200+ person venue in VEGAS and people have a great time, including the preferred club destination by big celebrities like DJ KHALED and Q (the owner of WorldStarHipHop), etc. Yes, it's not a 20 million dollar venue at the Wynn or the newest hotel. But it's in the city everyone wants to be in... and Crown provides the only urban experience of any major club in a big Casino/Hotel.

The real reason its not popular in *THIS* forum is because few active posters here are into urban hip-hop clubs and many people here are dying to call it "ghetto" etc. Just look at the pics of the posters here and its obvious they are into a totally different scene. All good. I'm just one of the few cheerleaders on this forum.

When a new poster finds this forum and says "are there any hip-hop clubs in Vegas" its almost irresponsible to dog Crown. There's a very good likelihood, the poster is LOOKING for a spot like Crown, especially if they are into urban crowds.

I don't think Tryst's mix would disappoint that much. They play a decent amount of hip hop. If you're into having a big hip hop oriented mix, it might not suit, but if you don't mind listening to some top 40 and dance throughout the night, yet still like going ham on the Public Service Announcement "Allow me to re-introudce myself..." drop, you'll probably be happy there.

completely agree with most of both these posts, but with a few exceptions.

i don't really think the photos of the users say very much about the likelihood they (used to?) enjoy hip-hop, but there are ebbs and flows as far as users preferences and trends in the club scene in general, so i don't think the current makeup of frequent users says much beyond this is the vocal few on this particular board. it should go without saying the users are not unusually white; plenty of black and brown faces on here.

i personally love the edm trend, but it's very clear that the scene currently doesn't offer as many hip-hop nights or hotspots as it has (and may again one day).

while Crown might not be any more 'vegas' than lax/bank/jet, it is pretty big compared to the urban offerings in any given city.

what rings most true to me in this thread is THIS:

I agree with that as well.

For the venue, a 2+ hour wait and $30 cover explains most of the Hip Hop clubs in Milwaukee / Chicago, so I guess I'm just used to that. Folks that visit from places that aren't populated with clubs like Crown (and for that case, places like Tryst, Marquee, Lavo) would probably be blown away by how hopping these venues are.

It's just my preference, when I go to Vegas, I want to try things I can't get at home. To each his own...

Didn't mean to besmirch the Crown. Heavy is the head...

If any local active poster here wants to experience Crown, let me know. I will set up a table and bottle on me. We support all the venues in Vegas. Our staff patronizes just about every other big club in town and we're all very well connected in the industry. And we send referrals all of the time. I appreciate the way this thread has developed and I personally respect people's opinions if they are based on fairness and honesty. If people ask for a hip-hop club in Vegas, they are probably looking for a venue that doesn't play Lady Gaga or mash-ups, and its probable that a well dressed urban crowd may be exactly what they are looking for.
