  • Best Poker Room In Town!

Anyone who knows anything about poker knows that for years the Mirage Poker Room was the hands down Mecca of professional poker. Over the years that has changed, and it seems that the Bellagio now holds the high honor of being the casino on the strip to host the "Big Game". But aside from the few degenerate gamblers who get to call themselves professional poker players, What is the best poker room in the city for the average run of the mill poker enthusiast looking for some good action. The Venetian is the obvious and easy answer. There are always right around a minimum of 50 games going at any given time. Check it out if you love poker and you want a place that will still have 35 tables going at 4am. The MGM Grand, Aria, and Mirage are also all great rooms where you can find tons of good lower limit action. If you're up for the challenge and you have you game tight, check out the $2-$5 at the Bellagio to test your skills. Hope this thread finds some fans of poker who are looking for some good info on their first trip to the big show in Sin City. Be forewarned, once you fall in love with Las Vegas, there is no turning back.

So after the online poker bust, it seems that the online grinders have all flocked to the Venetian.

Thanks for the heads up on the Venetian and RIO. There are still plenty of fish, but you better believe there are a lot more sharks swimming in those waters since DoJ stuck it's head further up it's own ass when they shut down US online poker.

Don't laugh but if you want to play against fishes play at o'sheas. The players are so drunk they are just giving you their money. Thats the first place I go to build my bankroll lol.

Played cash game during the WSOP at the RIO and there was alot of action. However, after the main event, all the action pretty much packs up and leaves. I've never played at ARIA but asking around some vegas locals and grinders I have heard that it has the most action.

I've played O'sheas drunken game and its pretty good from 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., but everyone knows this so be wary of all the other grinders trying to take advantage of couple drunks. Top 5 Poker Rooms on the Strip at www.allvegaspoker.com right now are Tropicana(???), Venetian, Wynn, Treasure Island(???) and ARIA.

Good Luck! btw Palms is hosting the new Epic Poker League in August and has satellites for as low as $40.00...Ill prob be taking shots in August.

Does O'Shea's really attract grinders? What are the spreading 1/2 NL? I've played some god-awful 1/2 tables in my day, but none are worth grinding a living on!

Yeah but you can buy in for 100.00 and cash out for 700.00 in a few hours cause its that bad. If you can make 600.00 a day its not bad grinding.

The wynn is the most pleasant to sit in. Bally's is the fishiest.

After building bank roll at o'sheas I like the 1-3 nl game at Aria the most comfortable poker I ever been too esp those chairs. Lots of action on the 2-5 game at the MGM Grand. Like the Venetian after 9 pm as the games loosen up. The Venetian has the best tourny structures around but the cash games in the daytime are tight with a bunch of rocks playing. The Flamingo can have some decent games going and lot of promotions I.E. High hands and stuff. Imperial Palace on weekends lots of fishes. Hate the Bellagio cause the staff can be rotten and to me it's an uncomfortable room. All tables are cramped in.

                            What about the Excaliber room?

I read on the AVP website it seems to attract a lot of newbies.

I honestly havent played a live game since last year at the MGM but usually do pretty well. If I come out even or $100 or $200 up Im happy and normally walk away after playing a bit. My last time in Vegas I broke near even if not a little down, and definitely lost my ass the year before, part of it was my fault, but the other part was there was a lot of sharks at the Rio (It didnt help I was very drunk most of this trip...ha). I used to play live 4/8 LHE at a local Indian Casino and would get free rooms there I played enough, however on the $4/8 LHE at the Indian Casino and in the KC River Boats everyone turned into calling stations and I didnt have the patience for it. Even with a good hand you'd get sucked out. Just no live legal games close by.

Had a couple of bad beats at the MGM table after the UFC fight last 4th, but ground it out all night and won all my money back and a little more. I was playing at a table with mainly locals and 2 or 3 other tourists, but I could tell the tourists there had played a lot of poker as well. I felt pretty good for holding my own w some professional sharks. I normally play $1/2 NLHE.

It always makes me a bit nervous about cheating when the dealer and half the people at the table know each other. I should probably just get up but I was patient and took down a couple big pots when they thought I didnt know what I was doing. After that I couldnt get anyone to play with me.

I think Im an OK player and normally hold my own.

I'll have to try Osheas when I get there Friday night.

For you guys that play at O'sheas is there normally a wait list on the weekends late? I remember last year they always had a couple games going as Id always end my night/morning there playing $5 craps, (did ok at that) Never did get in on a Poker game though.

Seems pretty hard to avoid the locals. No offense against you guys, but you seem to have a system worked out. Guess I just dont trust anyone.

If I build a bankroll I'll probably end up over at MGM again since Im staying at the Trop and get on a tight table and see how I do against some good local players.

I am a poker dealer and trust me there is no way you can cheat. First of all there are at least 20 survailence cam is the room. You will be caught and if a dealer is caught then it could be 10 years in jail and 1,000,000 fine. The casinos def don't want you to cheat cause they can lose their gaming license and be fined millions of dollars. The reason the dealer knows the players because they see them everyday. I don't even know how a dealer can cheat. These locals aren't sharks they just know how to be patient and wait for bad players or drunks and just out play them. Trust they lose too. They just know how to play tight and grind.
