  • When do you decide to walk away?

Okay, I haven't gambled too much but it seems like you are bound to have hot streaks and cold streaks if you sit at a table long enough, and what goes up eventually comes down.

So I'm curious... when do you decide to walk away? Bad hour? No money left? 10 times your money? Boring dealer?

My favorite casino game is craps. I like to start with $500 in chips. If I find myself down $150, I'll take a break until the next shooter. Will walk away if I'm down $200. On the flip side, once I'm up $200 or more, I'll step away once my "profit" falls back to $100.

I'm not good at blackjack, so this is where I usually lose my a$$. With that same $500, I walk away when I'm down $150, and count my blessing all the way to the cashier if I ever find myself up $200.

I'm a blackjack player. Once I'm up big, I walk away after I've lost 3 straight hands or something like 8 of my last 8.

I also walk away if a dealer pulls a miracle card to beat my 19/20 twice in a row.

I'm with Brett, there's usually a "FUCK THIS SHIT!" moment that'll tip me.

Of course, that doesn't mean I haven't stayed at the table until my last dollar was in their rack. I'm stupid.

Not only have I not heeded my own advice, but I've lost everything in front of me and then another $1,000 after an expletive-filled ATM trip.

Ouch - I can feel that. Seems like when you're out golfing and you've just flubbed your first sand shot then get frustrated and just keep hacking at it without calming down huh

I usually set a max $100 loss before I leave. Thats $100 of my own or the casinos money if I'm up.

If I ever go up 20 bets I walk away too.

As I win I put my original buy in back into my purse. Ater that I just keep playing. I look to get another stash of my original buy in the purse. After that, I'll just play until I get an aforementioned, "ah, hell no." moment.

That seems to make sense... putting away your original buy in... assuming you are able to do that and haven't had such a moment!

I also play blackjack and agree, I start with 200 and then once i have 400 i put 200 back in my pocket, every time i go up 200 it goes in my pocket. Most of the time I start with 200, put down another 200 and keep going because I have the worst luck at casinos. Its only money and one day it will pay off.

i usually stick with the loose 3 hands or the miracle card plus another loss on the next hand.. but that rational part of my brain usually gets shut off when im at the tables at 5 in the morning and pounding energy/vodka

I'm a fan of playing conservative with my money & aggressive with the houses money... I give myself seven $200 dollar opportunities to win big money (over 600)... If I'm up I never go back below my original buy in... So my time at a table usually goes a few ways...

                          1) I loose my buy in... Sometimes quick... sometimes takes hours... Regardless I play by the statistics... and take a long break if I loose a buy in...
                          2) I get up $, play aggressive, but never get that breakthrough profit I'm looking for... those times I'll end even... maybe down a hand or 2...
                          3) I get up $...get aggressive... breakthrough and score a big win... between 600 hundred and a grand +...

I've never lost my entire seven opportunities... Knock on wood & all that good stuff... Most times I eventually turn one of my opportunities into a nice vegas bankroll which I attempt to spend in the most egregious way possible ...

Remember... When up $... play aggressive with Casino Money... Stay true to game strategy & increase bets...

There is no hard and fast rule, I just feel the table, but I do like to put away my original buyin if I am doing well, that way I am playing with house money for the most part.

It is usually that oh-shit moment that makes you walk away. Dealer change in Blackjack will make me walk away or stay depending on the previous dealer as well.

I play blackjack and will walk away a) if the shoe is running terribly b) if I have been down for most of the session but clawed my way back to even or c) once I pocket a double on my money and then run out of the rest.

This is excluding times drawn away by women...
