Lax vs Lavo vs Surrender? Misc trip advice for a newbie.

So I am going to Vegas with two female friends (I am male), or two nights, the 10th and 11th of May.

I have done my homework and we have basically decided we will be getting bottle service (mostly on my tab, girls right? both off limits to me so yeah).

Two of us will be attending Moon at the palms(our hotel) on the 10th, because it just looks amazing, and maybe some Ghostbar thrown in.

Since the other comes for the 11th, we decided to get table/bottle service, but I am still unsure of which club to go to. None of us has experience, and all three of the 'popular' clubs (Lax/Lavo/Surrender) seem to be great in their own right.

Since the girls have yet to make any decisions, it falls to me, so my question is: What club is the best for a Wednesday night. I for one would like something with a good dance vibe, nothing over techno/house style. I wouldn't mind a place with a good male/female ratio as well.

As a random bit of advice, one of the two thinks that taking a taxi from the strip to our hotel while intoxicated (bottle between just 3 will get us drunk, since we plan to pregame), will lead us to being 'screwed' as she puts it. I'm no stranger to pricy cab rides, but is there any truth to this?

First basic piece of advice for cab journey is when you are asked if you have been to Vegas before say YES MANY TIMES, if you say no they will drive you all round the place to up the fare, also you should consider that if you have a rough idea of the route between where you are and where you need to get to it will give you the best chance of avoiding being scammed. Of the dates you have listed i would go to Pure on the Tuesday and Surrender on the Wednesday.

It's a toss-up for me. When you go, you may have the terrace at Pure open on the Tuesday which will be really nice. I've only been to Moon once and I wasn't having a great night so that skewed my view of the place.

As for Wednesday, again, it's a toss-up between Surrender and LAX. I've never been to Surrender, but again, it has the outdoor portion of the club, which is great when the weather is warm (I had the option of that back in December 2010, but didn't go because it was much colder).

As for LAX, I've always had a good night there, but I prefer doing bottle service there as the dance floor is proportionately small compared to the rest of the club.

Regarding LAVO, I've never been so I can't comment on that. But, it gets good reviews here and people that I've spoken to first-hand have also given it good reviews.

No. There is no question, go to Surrender over LAX.

Hey thanks for all the advice so far. I didn't even think about Pure. I've tried looking around and I get a kinda mixed answer, but what kind of music does LAX/Surrender play?

In that case, the correct response is: Learn to like EDM, and go to Surrender. LAX is way past its prime.

Or go to Tao and hang out in the opium room... Or Marquee's Boombox Room, I think?

Another option is Jet. I think Jet would be a better option than LAX.

LAX is pretty good on Wednesday nights actually. I'd normally tell you go to elsewhere, but LAX is a good bet for your group.

Unless something changed very recently, Jet is also open on Thursdays.
