  • Tipping a host?

Hope some hosts and non hosts on here can help me answer my question, basically how much do you generally tip a host if they get you past the line and into the club, i don't want the host to think i'm a tight fisted person if i dont tip enough.

Also what happens, if you contact a host to get you into a club expecting to skip the line and for some unknown reason there is no line at the club what would you tip the host?

Probably at least another $30 if you're willing to pay cover and you only want him to walk you in past the line.

Somewhat similar question. Is $100-150 a standard tip if you are reserving a table through a host?

To jump on this thread so don't have to created a new one....sorry but it is in the same direction as I am most concerned about tipping.

Will be there Sat 23rd April.

Planning table service for 7 guys at Tryst or a club in that league...haven't decided on a club yet

                    I am planning on paying:

4 bottles at $500 a pop and whatever tax on that
20% of the above to the waitress.
                    $200 to the Host
                    $100 to security
                    $20 to the runner

So just around $3k for the evening

In your expert and experienced opinions is the above realistic???

$100 for security? I usually do about 20 and go up from there and go increments of 10's and 20's depending on how things go. Usually end up tipping my security around 50-60 total by the end of the night.

I might tip the host a little more, especially for 4 bottles, and if you want a good table location. He's one of the most important people to make happy money wise, as he's the one that seats you and arranges exactly what table you get.

I agree. Some places have security by zone especially if it's not roped off. Those are the places where the security seems to be lacking.

Great so I am in the ball park when it comes to cost.....apart from security.

Mikey, as the oracle, what 'incentive' does a host require for a decent table. Is my $200 plan fine?
