No big jackpots (yet!) but proof Vegas can pay nicely (rarely) and in more than 1 way...

    1) Hit a mini-progressive jackpot on a Monopoly slots machine @ Wynn a few years back = $6K

    2) Went on an insane Blackjack run on a $25 table, at Harrah's (of all places) last year = $4800
    Nothing interesting to add here...

This isn't really winning, but a hell of a Blackjack rally story:

Got to MGM Grand last year and lost $500 within an hour of being there before my friends arrived. Being as though I came with a $2,000 gambling budget, this was not good. I had 4 nights to go.

I ended up losing the full $2,000 by the morning of the second day, and then began withdrawing from the ATM and taking credit card advances (I know, I know) to get more money to play with.

All told, it was day night 3 with another day and a half to go in Vegas and I was down $4,200. I had about $300 left before I started begging for change, as I had hit my daily ATM limits and couldn't access anymore money.

It was about 3am at the Playboy Club and I sat down at a $50 minimum table with $300. I turned that into about $1,200 in a half hour and called it a night.

The next day, I went over to Bellagio for brunch. After brunch, I sat down at a blackjack table and turned my $1,200 into about $2,000. Decided to put $100 on a split of 0/00 in roulette, and I lost. Did it again, and won. Now I've got about $3,600.

I go on a bit of a losing streak that night in blackback, I get back down to $3,000 or so. Then I'm at the MGM Grand before bed and I win another $1,000. Now I've got about $4,000 in front of me, and I'm leaving in the morning.

All told, I lost $200 gambling on the trip. Pretty good rally story considering where I was about 48 hours into the trip.

26k; Caesars - a hours upon hours double deck blackjack session - six years ago.

18k; Lagasses Stadium/Palazzo Sportsbook - 7 team parlay NFL - this last Thanksgiving.

Let's never talk about the losses.

But my proudest amount winning was $1,100 maybe six or seven years ago when I was down to my gas money for the drive back to LA and turned $40 into the aforementioned eleven hundred at the Sahara. The day I shut up about that is the day I die.

Wow. And wow. This is a good thread. Keep it up.
That being said, if you're asking if it can be done, you're probably not at the level where you could pull it off.

My first Vegas trip never really could get any sort of run so was down about 1500 playing BJ and Craps. Last night 530 AM drunk as hell started playing Casino War with $200 somehow is an alcohol induced haze walked out winning $2k playing War and $500 for the trip. Best rally ive ever had, and the stupidest game I've ever played lol.

Turned two $1,000 chips into $12,000 in about 10 minutes of blackjack. Doubled down on a $1,000 bet on the last hand and lost. Cashed out, grabbed two $5,000 stacks and went to The Bank (the club). This was in 2008.

I was staying at Madalay Bay a few years ago with a buddy and his GF. I went to the poker table and sat at the 1-2 or 1-3 game, just to kill time, bought in for the max, either $300 or $500, not sure. Anyway, had a good time at the table drinking for free, met some cool people, ended up doing tequila shots at the table, just there for fun and to kill time. Ended up with 7,6 suited on the button on pretty much a family pot, called and flopped an open ended straight flush draw. Turned the card to make my straight flush, the river was a blank, but someone had already made their Ace high flush, so there was an All -in in front of me. Of course I insta-called the now 700-800 pot, and won a $900 progressive jackpot they had as well. I ended up $2000 up from my original buy in at about 6am, way to drunk to still be playing poker, but for some reason, I got to be the lucky drunk asshole that would suck out when i needed to, or just happen to have the nuts when I needed it. Pretty much one of the best runs I have had on the table, and by far the most fun.

Just this past weekend. I play high stakes poker and Pai Gow tiles (for comps). Thursday night I won about $300 playing tiles. Friday and Saturday afternoon between tiles and poker I lost $11K - actually had $500 left from that. I was in some stupid slot tournament Friday and won $300 in promotional chips. I went and picked up the promo chips and headed to the pai gow table. I ran that up to $1300. I threw in my last $500 and put $1800 on the fight (will go 10 rounds at +180). I went to the fight and won that bet = $5040. After the fight I took $1000 back to the pai gow table and ran that up to $8700. Total money after I played was $12700 - up $1700 for the trip - including all my expenses and drinks at the clubs. Left Sunday. What a wild weekend!

Biggest win ever - $35K in a poker game.

My first year gambling in Vegas was last April. I've never played before and only knew how to play BlackJack. I played the Quarter Slot Video BlackJack at Planet Hollywood.

I plunked in 10$ and played all the way to 89$. Which was just enough to go buy the Guess Purse I saw at the Guess Store.

Not a massive win by other's standards. But it was a memory made for me.

My biggest Win was a local casino called "The Gardens" aka The "G" in So Cal...I hit the Bad Beat Jackpot for $7K when My Aces full of Kings was cracked by 4 Aces(I had KK, He Had AJ, and the Board was AAAXX), that same weekend we headed to Las Vegas and promptly lost about half of it in cash games during the WSOP and the Craps Table...

My biggest Win in Vegas was 2K at the craps table at Buffalo Bills on a Stateline Turnaround Trip .... I've also won 1.7K at the Rio craps table after going on a monster roll and hitting the Firebet for 4 points. Multiple $500 to $1000 Wins at random Craps tables when in Vegas and a 1.9K win in a low stakes Poker Tourney ...Still Training for the WSOP .... one day

                            the money doesn't compare

But for some strange reason me and 2 of my boys had the bright idea to try out Casino War at the Wynn.

(A pit boss told us later on that it had absolutely the worst odds of all table games)

At first all three of us were playing and we were just about even after about 30 min to an hour. After a while we figured out one of my friends was starting to get hot and we decided to pool some of our money and just play 1 v 1 against the dealer. They were his hands but all 3 of us discussed bets. While drunk we figured out this ridiculously dumb system playing on a $10 min table

Always started off at 10 for the first few hands.

If we win a hand by one point - stack the winnings onto the original bet (drunk logic was that we got really lucky and it may be the start of a hot streak)

If we lose a hand by one point go big - this was 25-40 at the beginning and then 100+ after we started to accumulate more money. (drunk logic was that we just were really unlucky so we were due to get lucky)

If we have 2-3 blowouts (Face card vs 2-6) in a row then go big (drunk logic was ride the hot the streak).

We never went big twice in a row unless one of three previous rules were met.

Turned $100 into $700 before we needed to eat. Came back and ended up cashing out $2200 by the end of the evening before we got ready to go out.

Of course we were being loud and obnoxious because we were drunk and winning and had weird superstitions (we made our friend who was technically playing walk away from the table at every big hand) so we ended up accumulating a 20-30 person crowd around a damn Casino War table.

For the rest of the trip we had multiple people stop us and ask us if we were the "Casino War guys"

Our luck wasn't as good the next few days but we had some runs of turning $30 into $500 and stuff like that at other casinos.

The craziest thing was that other people would try to play with us and they were getting killed. One dude lost $1600 in 30 mins and these Saudi oil guys lost 10K in an hour or so.

We also hit quads a couple of times in ultimate texas hold 'em and turned $100 into $1000.
