  • Can someone please explain this price break down for bottle service

I was emailing Stan tudor for haze and he qouted me prices for grey goose....

$475 per bottle....before 7% sales tax and 20% service charge.

I understand the sales tax part

but who gets the 20% service charge? I assume the girl serving our group would get a big portion of that 20%.....but wouldnt some of that also goto the host that set up the reservation?

i was just thinking that many people prob don't know to tip the host or choose not to so they would have to make their money off the 20% service charge? am i right?

The waitress gets the 20% service charge. The host will get a 'tip' directly from you on your way/ at your table - roughly $100 per bottle.

Runner and security tips also separate.. .

have a look on hear for similar threads - many people have asked the same thing

I usually budget bottle+tax +service then $100 for the host, $20-$40 for bus boy (runner), $20-$40 for security.

Hosts make a very small base salary, they rely on tips (and at some clubs, comission on their tables) for their income.

        thanks for the responses.

i have read through the forums. but i am buying 8 bottles first night and 10 bottles second night.

so at peoples suggestions to tip 100 per bottle seems kinda steep considering it would be 800(first night) and 1000(second night) tip

i just couldnt justify giving someone a $1000 dollar tip especially if he trys to sit my group in the back corner.

Do you guys also tip the waitress in person as well as the 20% service charge? If so, how much?

Just as with any other service, the tip is solely at your own discretion. $100 suggestion is based on what others feel is appropriate, but has nothing to do with the service that you are getting personally. In my opinion, a tip is what you earn based on the service you have provided, so give whatever you see fit based on the service the host provides you. I agree $1,000 tip is ridiculous, and not to take away from what a host does, but that is a hell of a lot of money for someone to assign you a table and maybe/maybe not walk you in.

Umm, with the amount of bottles you are going to be getting, you will get a prime location at any club (well prolly except Marquee). $100 for bottle isn't necessary, you tip what you feel is deserved to be tipped to host. Also, don't forget to ask host what kind of deals they can provide you with..like say a B5G3 type of deal or something along those lines.

Also, which clubs did you plan on going to?

if you're spending 4-5k at a club each night, you should be getting a prime spot, but a tip of a few hundred dollars for those spots is still expected. when you're spending that kind of money, 100 per bottle isn't necessary, but for the prime spots in the clubs, depending on how busy it is, at least a few hundred is the norm

I'm going to haze on friday march 11 and xs saturday march 12.

with the amount of bottles i am buying....yes i do expect a table in a prime location. but every host i talk to says it's spring break and considered one of the busiest times of the year blah blah blah and we need to buy more bottles to guarantee our tables wont be given away last minute.....not sure if they are just saying that to get us to buy more.

eitherway it's the first bachelor party of all my close friends so we want to make sure we do it right.

i should also mention that this is for 18 guys. so from the start i always expected that we would have to buy more bottles for good tables since it is a sausage fest

I almost always tip my waitress and extra $100 in cash, but that's just me. And only if she deserves it.

after reading these forums i feel like a cheap fool.

i went to vegas twice before and the hosts set everything up for me and my friends...usually a group of 8. and i never tipped the hosts cause i didn't think we were suppose to. i always assumed the service charge goes to the host and waitress. and i thought the more bottles you buy the more commission the hosts make. so i would just buy more bottles throughout the night.

                      atleast now i know

i assume many people reading this thought the same. cause in my city we have table service but the hosts don't do shiit and no one tips them. they are super happy to get any tip cause it just never happens. vegas is like a whole different country when it comes to this stuff

Thought I'd ask in here instead of starting a whole new thread, when is it best to tip the host? When I get to the door and meet him? When he walks me to my table? At the end of my night? Half at start and half at end?

Just seems that if I tip at the start I'm paying for a service I may not get or may not think it good enough for what I pay.

When you get to the door/meet him or after he walks to your table depending on your comfort level. You won't be seeing the host at the end of the night.

The service level is in the pre- how hard was it to book, responsiveness, friendliness, was your reservation bumped, any potential deals, reduced mins, help getting friends in etc, if he actually meets you there (not all hosts do), table location, ease of everything. Once you're in the club... the service level there is on the waitress/runner/security.

Thing to take into account is if you plan on building a relationship with the hosts (aka you plan on coming back). If you're trips are once very 3 years... maybe you would reduce tipping a little since part of it is to build goodwill for the future.

Cheers Drew, great advice as always.

Obviously being from London it's not like I'm going to be out in Vegas every month (I wish!) but I don't want to stiff the hosts and look tight.
