  • Moving to the US from Sydney

    Hi all,

I just wanted to get your opinion on what it would take for me to move to the US from Australia.

I would love to do it, but I know it's probably near impossible, and have no idea where to start.

I work full time in Hospital Administration, but I am also qualified in Personal Training.

Is this actually impossible to do, or is there a way? Any advice would be really appreciated, thanks.
March 2011 was easily the best time of my life! Currently saving for MDW 2012 - who's coming with!?!?!?

I'd like to do it once I graduate, but as I understand it it's pretty difficult. So I'll probably just marry a forum member for a green card.

The Americans already live there. Doubt they've spent much time figuring out how Aussies can get in. You're best to research on the web, and maybe give the green card lottery a shot. Hospital administration may not work, but I believe nursing helps with entry

In your field, you'd be able to find a job very easily, thats for sure. Also, you'd be best off moving to California of course

As far as greencards and what not...I think Aria is looking for a sugar daddy...

            Yeah, California is pretty awesome

Warren, I am in NorCal as well!

I have a few friends who are here on working Visa's....not sure how hard that is to come by, but it might be a good start in case you get here and change your mind.

One of them came with a working Visa and then ended up marrying an American guy.

Or...you could be like a mail order groom...I know some chicks that dig the Aussie accent

yup.. Work visa is your best bet..

The best place for weather in California that is the warmest is south California and it gets about 10 degrees cooler by the San francisco/San Jose area. I dont really leave CA so i wouldnt know much about the other states.. other than it can get cold the more north and east you go.

Well it just so happens I go crazy over the US accent so hopefully whoever I meet, we make a great couple.

Work Visa's are my best bet, but I do believe they are very hard to come by. I have several years experience in my field so hopefully I can do something.

I'm just sick of Sydney to be honest. I want a fresh start and a change. And as I've said I love coming to the US.

The Muss: It sounds so weird that you like accents AKA: American accents...but thats prob the same as someone telling you they like your accent

Good luck with what you decide!

                          Bahahahahahah. Fuck you Warren

I do live in California though...and I am not opposed to sugar daddies. And an accented sugar daddy would be the icing on the cake.

Funny story, one of the guys I met way back in Vegas (the Brits in costumes, you know the story) asked me if I wanted to get married so he can get a green card and join the service. Weird.

"Fuck your friends, just do what you want to do" Aside from the more famous, "If you're not here, you're fucking up" AOD... Epic. "

                            That is weird?

Can I ask a serious question? How do you guys view Australian's in general?

Most people I know are open to every culture. I know that there is racism in America, but I dont think its against the Aussies!

I know a few Aussies (Happy Australia day yesterday, BTW) and I dont view them any different I would any one else, except they talk really cool!
