    Trip Report

Theme song for this trip report: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ixn_La0YXI[/ame]

So my girlfriend had never been to Vegas before in her life, so I decided to do something special for her 21st birthday, and where else better to celebrate than good old Las Vegas? I actually was down the weekend before for New Years Eve with family, went home for 4 days, then returned for another weekend. Here’s what happened…

We got to the Vancouver airport a few hours early, and were surprised to find almost no lines through US customs or security, so we had about two hours to kill. It was 9:00AM and the bars were not open until 10:00, but we both wanted to kick off the trip right with a drink. The only place open that was selling alcohol was the duty free store, and so we decided that a morning mimosa was in order. A quick visit to the store and also to an Orange Julius and soon we had our drinks in hand, happy as can be.

During the flight we also had some drinks, time to get the party started! A few doubles never hurt anyone’s party so that made the 2 hour flight go by much faster.

We arrived at the airport and grabbed our luggage, walked outside into the slightly bitter cold wind and noticed the long line for a cab, so we walked over to the CLS stand and hopped in a black super stretch limo for a ride to our hotel. Once on route, I asked the chauffeur if we could stop at the “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign and he said sure. We got to the sign, took some pictures, and headed to the Planet Hollywood Westgate Towers resort. Grabbing the luggage we walked into the lower lobby and ascended the long mirrored escalator to the main lobby and went to check in. Unfortunately they were not able to assist me with my request to upgrade to a one bedroom suite from the studio suite I had booked, but I was offered a transfer to the Rio for the same rate. Not wanting to leave the strip I said no thanks and we took room #5503 on the 55th floor.

The view from our 55Th floor room:

We got to our room, freshened up, checked out the sweet view we had (We could see from Bellagio all the way down to Stratosphere) and walked down to the PH casino (The Westgate Towers don’t have a casino but it’s about a 4-5 minute easy walk to the regular PH casino) to try our luck at some blackjack, and she got to gamble for her very first time in the USA.

At 2:30 I get a call from Vegas Luxury Rides letting me know that they are almost at the hotel, a half hour early, so we pack up at the casino and walk to the lower parking level. Now my girl didn’t know about this, but I had rented us a bright and shiny yellow Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder Convertible for 6 hours, and when she saw it parked with me reaching for the keys, well, people across the parkade heard the squeal. After a few quick minutes of paperwork and basic explanation on how to actually drive it we were off. I’ve never driven a Lambo before and I must say it is an absolute BLAST to roll around in one! Fun to drive, gets lots and lots of attention (People were snapping pictures non-stop and thumbs up for as far as we could see) and that exhaust note as you down shift with the paddles…amazing….We rolled down to the “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign once more as she wanted one last picture, and then we went down the strip, just cruising along enjoying the hotels and sights.

View while driving a lambo in Vegas:

Even the gas cap was pimp on this thing:

Ending up at In-N-Out burger (One of my Vegas rituals, there aren’t any in Canada) we grabbed a snack and then took off again. Pulling into Encore I aimed my 550HP rental car into the valet and we went to go check out the inside of the casino. Walking around we got a bit thirsty, so after stopping at the Southside Bar we strolled around then went to go collect the Lambo, and drove around for a bit until we went to the PH Westgate to rest and change clothes, then for another cruise up and down. That car is super fun to drive and I’m very glad I rented it. As far as we could see there were flashes from cameras and cell phones everywhere, made us feel like celebrities haha! Finally, it was time to return it, so I found a gas station, realized how much a V10 sucks down in 70 miles (After playing with it of course! ) and just as I pulled into the lower parking lobby of our hotel James the owner of VLR was there to pick it up. It was great to have the drop off and pick up service, highly recommended for the extra $100 charge.

To the room we went, and then down to Earl of Sandwich in the PH casino for some more food, then to the room to wait for the limo to come and pick us up from the hotel. I had gotten us a reservation for Sapphires as it was the AEE after party and we were supposed to be picked up at 10:15, which was confirmed with them on the phone at 9:30ish. 10:35 I call and was told that the driver called my phone, I picked up, said something, and then hung up. Quite strange as my phone never rang once nor did I talk to anyone but anyways the operator told me the limo driver would be there within 15 minutes, before 10:50 for sure. At 11:05 I called back, was told to wait another 15 and that it was super busy there. By this point the two of us had other things in mind as waiting for over an hour isn’t too much fun, so once it got to 11:45 I called back and said don’t bother coming, although I was promised the limo in less than 15 minutes, this time “for sure”. Needless to say we were less than impressed with Sapphires and I’m not sure I’ll be going back there any time soon. Anyways, we ended up at the Cosmopolitan and had a few drinks in the bar that is inside the chandelier, was a good time. Then back to the hotel, and to sleep.

The next morning we woke up at noon and went to Planet Dailey’s for lunch inside the PH casino, and that was pretty good but we both found it a bit pricey at $150 for lunch. Then we went to the room to go get changed for the AEE convention and got there via taxi. We checked in and walked up and down the place, looking at everything. Porn conventions are usually a good time Unfortunately we got there a bit late and it shut down at 5:00PM, so we only got about two hours in at the show but still good enough to see most of it. We then left once it was closing time but again the taxi line was hours long so we grabbed another limo and made our way to the hotel to change for our next little adventure. The trip was pretty good. We both were a bit happy from the conventions bar and she decided to flash the world from the limo. Always a good sight when your looking at this:

6:45 rolls around and I get a text from my next surprise, a Rolls Royce Phantom on 22’s. We run downstairs and see it in all its shining baller light and hop in after meeting Abraham, our chauffeur. Rolling up to the Stratosphere and back down to the Mandalay Bay in a real Rolls is kind of cool, but gets less attention than the Lambo as its grey and kind of blends in. The inside of the RR Phantom is just as you’d expect, everything is perfect and not one inch out of place. The floor had been vacuumed recently however I did see some dirt on the floor; perhaps it had just been used.

              Some pictures:

Aside from that it was pretty cool rolling around in a RR. Arriving at the Mandalay Bay we got out and walked to the first restaurant we saw (We were starving!) which was called Noodlehouse I believe. It was tasty but we are from Vancouver, Canada, which has some of the best Asian food in North America, so I’d rather hit up the buffet or another place next time. Once done we walked back to the driveway area and got inside the Phantom once again to cruise around a bit more. Now that it was dark out we were getting lots of flashes our way, camera flashes that is haha. It was funny, the RR seemed to get more attention at night than during the day. We continued our pleasure cruise up and down the strip stopping at a gas station to pick up some redbull, and the guy behind the counter was in awe of the car. We ended up at the grand entrance for the Wynn and after rolling up, having the doors open backwards just like they are supposed to, and sliding out of the Rolls, well, that’s a good feeling

We walked slowly through the Wynn casino to the bar where we asked for a bottle of champagne, but unfortunately we were running late so we popped it, had a glass and walked with the rest of it in plastic cups to our venue of the evening, Surrender. I’ve never seen someone walking around with a bottle of Dom Perigon in the casino before but hey we were thirsty and only wanting the best that night. Finished it right in time before we got to Surrender, and then I texted Nader my contact that was assisting me. Also ended up meeting MikeyT in line as well. Got walked in within 5 minutes and soon we were sitting at our table inside. Ended up drinking the night away, having a great time inside and the SurrenderDome was cool. I plan on coming back but maybe when it’s warmer even though our runner was nice enough to get us an extra heater for our table as it was starting to get cold. Was an epic night as far as we both can remember haha!! Got plenty of pictures and our waitress was great.

The next AM we woke up and packed up the room (Always such a sad thing to do isn’t it? ), then headed downstairs and through the miracle mile and casino downstairs to the Spice Market Buffet, which was having for $21.99/person a all you can drink champagne and mimosas brunch, so who were we to say no? We ate there for a while, lots of choices, then headed up to the room to grab our bags and then checked out downstairs at the hotel lobby. A quick visit down to the bell desk to deposit our luggage and we were off via taxi to TI as she wanted to see the ships in front. We got there, checked it out, walked around, then got into a cab heading to Encore for a few drinks at the Southside bar.

From there our travels took us to the Stratosphere. She had heard that there is a roller coaster on top but when we got there discovered it came down a few years ago, but they replaced it with three new rides. We decided to try the X-Shot which is a giant teeter-totter that shoots you off the top of the tower. To be honest it was kind of boring, and super short. The second ride we did however was awesome, that was Insanity, they swing you 100 feet off the top of the tower and spin you around at 3g’s while your angled looking down to the pavement below. That’s a rush, especially after a few drinks!! We finished up at the Stratosphere, bought the pictures of your “Oh shit” face they always take of you, and then hopped into a limo to the Mandalay Bay for a nice buffet dinner. I highly recommend the custom made pasta station they have sort of half way in the middle of the buffet, can’t help but walk past it. Between that, the crab legs, prime rib, and everything else they had we left the buffet fuller than we have been in months!

It was then time to say goodbye to Vegas, so as we got a cab to take us back to PH Westgate to grab our bags we checked out pictures on the digital cameras, always good for a laugh. Grabbed our bags, headed to the airport, and then after one final shot inside the airport we checked our bags and went through security, then proceeded to the duty free store for some stocking up. To our gate we went and soon enough we were watching the towers of Vegas float away in the window at 25,000 feet….

So, in conclusion, Vegas is always a party and this trip did not fail to disappoint. As usual, I had a great time and can’t wait to come back. My liver on the other hand needs a rest now

Sorry for the multiple posts, there is a 10,000 character max per post and it won’t let you post more than 4 pictures per post!!

What a TR. Amazing. You did it big that's for sure. Love the Lambo, RR and walking around with a bottle of Dom Perignon in the casino.
