Most of the time tipping is based on service rendered. But it seems to me that in Vegas the tip is more often used to produce a desired outcome. I think this is especially true with table location. Every club is going to have the more desirable and less desirable tables. When a host has X number of tables and X number of groups, he's going to want to give the better tables to the groups who he's going to get more money from. So tipping well and up front can help you have a better experience. If you tip really well and get crap service, then I would just not use that host anymore and let everyone on this forum know about it.

I think he was offering up 2 different scenarios and pointing out that he would tip very differently depending on how the night went. Thus he's saying that he doesn't feel $100 per bottle every time no matter what is good advice for tipping.Originally posted by Vadiksf415 View PostWho did you work with at Tryst? Did you use a JC approved host or did you use a random person. Also, all table locations have certain minimums and it could've been a night when minimums were raised. Sometimes it requires a "handshake" to get a location you want.
I don't get the last part, are you saying you got a b1g1 at XS?
But while it's true that the average person may only tip $50 a bottle, or $100 flat, if you tip more than that, and you do it up front, then you're more likely to get treated better.
This is Vegas. Money; along with a good attitude, talks. If you're constantly waiting for over the top service before you tip well, you're going to go home with a bunch of complaints.

I agree with you 100%. Like the saying goes Money talks bullshit Walks. If you show you are willing to take care of the host, they will take care of you.Originally posted by CLoftis View PostOriginally posted by Vadiksf415 View PostWho did you work with at Tryst? And a big tip is cheaper than buying more bottles. My group of 8-9 will be going to XS on a Saturday in less than 2 weeks, and we're doing 3 bottles. That's not enough bottles to guarantee a great table for that size group, so I'm hoping that showing up early, being polite, and slipping the host a few hundred dollars will get us a good table. It will probably help that I'll be using the same host for Tryst the night before, and plan on tipping him the same for just 2 bottles that night. I figure a $600 tip between 2 nights will either get us amazing service or I'll be ranting and raving on here a few days later.Originally posted by Vadiksf415 View PostI agree with you 100%. Using Patrick Frank for Tryst and XS because I figured I'd be better off using the same host 2 nights in a row. He's Senior VIP Services Manager for both clubs apparently.Originally posted by Vadiksf415 View PostWho's the host you are using? Ryan P is the only one you should be going through at XS.

Couldn't have said it better. In Vegas its put up the money and then get the service. Too many patrons to be taking care of people that will most likely stiff you. (percentage wise)-WarreN aka "The Business"

I used someone from Clubplanet or something like that, they worked for the club. Said $100 tip. He got "sick", gave the reservation to someone else. Walked in early, said the table would not work. Host takes us back upstairs to the person marking off the tables, showed him money, $200, said there was no other tables. I don't think there could have been a worse table in the club.Originally posted by Vadiksf415 View PostWho did you work with at Tryst? Did you use a JC approved host or did you use a random person. I didn't get B1G1 at XS, I just used that as a scenario. Highlighting if I get good service, I pay. It would be nice to know what the tables cost in number of bottles and "real estate"/host fees ahead of time. It's hard not to have a good time getting the table you want.

Tipping can also get you other perks. My favorite host at The Bank usually gives me a big stack of drink tickets for my non-drinking friends to get that expensive bottled water, and for my other friends who will only drink beer. Then a $40 to the security guard ensures an escort to the bartender for them every time. The security guard will even carry my friend’s drinks on the way back from the bar to our table.
All in all, I think tipping is well worth it. I usually give $250 to the host, 22% + $100 in cash to the waitress, and $60 to our security (over the course of the night).
It might seem like a lot, but I can always get the table I want on almost any night I want, even Sunday (at The Bank). I think it's worth it to be treated the way I want to be treated.

Who's your runner?Originally posted by BobbyLight View PostIt's usually $50-100 to the host, $20 to the bouncer, the waitress gets an automatic 18-20% of your total bill so I don't give them extra but you can. Don't forget your runner either, tip everyone a little and they will appreciate it and keep your night smooth.Originally posted by stalian999 View PostWas looking in the guides and didnt find what I was looking for in terms of tips. When doing bottle service, who and how much do you often give tips to. I've heard to the host, the bouncer in your area, and the waitress. Is this correct, and if so could you give me a ballpark of what you usually give them. THANKS for the help!!

Had a group of 7 girls with bottle service at Pure, made arrangements with Brandon Ring for B1G1 however when we got there, Brandon was not there another host seated the first half of the party to show up-tipped him $60 as he is the one that tracked down our information from Brandon etc. After that, we never saw him again. The waitress gets her 20% and really, we never saw her except to get our bottles. The runners were awesome, even at one point having to clean up a spilled drink. We had 2 taking care of us-tipped each of them an extra 20 (and I think some of the others in my party slipped them some $ as well) Security/bouncer got missed--not on purpose, would be ready to go and "visit" with him and he would be off to another area.....or be busy with someone else. Finally came back from the dance floor and we had been moved to another area/table and I never saw him again....And I really wanted to thank him properly-he saved my Mom from an over-zealous dancer!I feel sorry for people who don't drink, when they get up in the morning, that's best they're gonna feel all day!
