  • For everybody asking about the weather

I've lost count of all the posts I've seen asking what the weather in Vegas is usually like for whenever they plan on going. Since this question pops up so often, I think it might be a good idea direct everyone to the National Weather Service, which has the daily normals and temperature extremes for every day of the year.

    Plan accordingly.

Let me also address the second most common weather-related question. No, clubs with outdoor space don't shut down in the winter. That's what outdoor heaters are for.
The only winning move is not to play.

This past year has been pretty weird imo though. Past years I've felt it to be much hotter in august, but this year june felt much hotter to me. Also, last year in december I needed my north face in the day and a heavy coat at night. This past december I had a very light jacket at night and it was very warm in the daytime. Since weather does change I don't think questions about the weather are completely unfounded. Its definitely good to have that as a guide though.

Actually, last August was quite a bit hotter than last June.

Which is another reason for this thread. Anecdotal evidence isn't always reliable.

As one of the people asking about the weather in Vegas during my trip, I actually looked up the average weather for those days and found that it averaged in the 30's during the night. And I knew that none of the clubs actually closed during the winter, but I was concerned about how comfortable the girls going with us would be in club dresses outside with the heaters. I've been told that they have enough heaters though that is stays pretty warm.

The temperature doesn't necessarily dictate how it is going to "feel". 30-something degrees does not feel the same in NY as it does in DC as it does in Vegas or the Bay area. Similarly in the summer Vegas is a very dry heat while other places are very humid. That's a good starting point, but is not an end all be all.

Completely agree. That's why I said I, personally, felt hotter in June & not that it was, in fact, hotter in June. In NY I would never consider going in the pool (heated or not) if it was 70s outside. I'd freeze when I came out of the pool. However, as it's been pointed out, in Vegas it seems to be okay. Plus, some people are just more heat- or cold-sensitive than other people. While anecdotal evidence isn't 100% reliable (what really is?) I do think that it can be at least somewhat helpful for those trying to plan accordingly for their trip. Obviously a legitimate source providing averages and extremes should be consulted, but I see no real harm in asking additional questions. *shrug*

When did I claim this information was the end-all be-all? I just wanted to do something about the millions of "I'm going to be in Vegas from xx to xx, what's the weather like that time of year?" posts we get. Some people just like to argue, I guess.

I'm heading out in mid March and I'm really hoping the weather will be nice enough to hit up some pool action. However, i'm not getting my hopes up and i have a feeling the pools won't be opened yet.

                        THE DON

We hit up Vegas for March Madness every year and it's usually good enough for pool action. Last year it got close to 80. I've seen some years though when it only hits mid 50's.
Last year though the Hard Rock pool, Flamingo and Palms pool were all open and rockin out.

                        You should be golden.
