Hows the Excalibur for a party hotel? I just turned 21 but i was able to celebrate because i was in Iraq, so i wanna do it right. But i don't want to spend a ton of cash on hotels and stuff, i wanna save it for the Vegas experience.
SEPT. 10TH-12TH, NO PLANS, JUST WINGIN' IT! ANY SUGGESTIONS?

The whole medieval theme brings families which means kids, which means not party. But some dudes in my group heading out this week (finally!) are shacking up there because it's cheap as hell.

I got a room at the Hilton, hows this for a party hotel? Its connected to the strip by monorail so thats good. Any reason why this stay would be bad?
        Thanks in advance!

My first thought is that 10 days is an awfully long time in Vegas, but, if you must, I would split it up a bit and maybe stay at a couple of hotels. Would give you a good flavor

IMO its really really far away from all the action. The monorail, while well designed and managed, is not party friendly. It's really far from the strip itself and requires a good hike-something drunk people and women with good shoes (read painful) won't like-just to get from the stations to the strip. Add to that more walking to get to the west side of the strip and you might as well take a cab. And monorail fees and cab rides will probably eat up any savings you may have gotten on the rooms. And I'm not sure there are any clubs there either.

All that being said, I've only spent about 15 minutes in the building and I have no experience about the rooms.

My vote would be on the strip or HRH or Palms.
That being said, if you're asking if it can be done, you're probably not at the level where you could pull it off.

You want to be at the club where girls want to be... not where guys get good bottle deals.

To me it's what happens when mini-golf runs rampant, lol. It is like a giant mini golf course. It is very close to south strip and cheap. I've heard good things about the remodeled rooms.

For people that stay at hard rock or palms, how do you get from there to the strip? cab?

And for that matter, what is a reasonable walking distance along the strip? Would someone walk from say, MGM to the Venetian, or is that too far? I realize it probably all depends on the time/weather, how drunk you are, what you're wearing, etc.

There is no reasonable walking distance on the strip, lol. Everything is sooooo fucking far away from anything else its hard to draw comparisons. I might walk from MGM to Venetian, but imagine with the heat, and all there is to see between those two points (you could spend hours trying to see each casino between these two just on the east side) you could easily over walk. If it's your first time to Las Vegas, invest in some good walking shoes. As for high heels and drinking, long walks are prohibitive.

I bet the average time from room to strip in any of the strip hotels would be on the heavy side of nine minutes. And I mean a straight bee line from door to elevator to main cab line.

I hope others chime in on this and I'm not the only one who feels this way.

As far as I know, you can take your drinks anywhere in public; ie the bus a cab, another casino etc. You can't take them into a restaurant, show, or club though.

I always tend to stay off strip since I drive and want to avoid the heavy jams getting in and out of the hotels. My favorite spots are HRH, MGM Sigs and Hilton in that order. No to mention cab fees generally are cheaper with the backstreets of the strip.

Best party hotel just depends on which parties you want to go to. For me it would be north strip, encore, venetian etc. But those are pricey options.

Walking distance, in summer you won't want to walk anywhere. Even at night I'd say one hotel over is the most you'd want to walk. When it's colder it becomes reasonable to walk several hotels down. If you are a woman in heels no walking whatsoever. Cab door to door.

If you want a good walking hotel I recommend Bill's gambling hall. It's smack in the center of the strip and since it's small it only takes about 3 minutes to walk from room to street.

Uh, walking from the HRH to the strip?!!!?! NOT a good idea. It's waaaay farther than you think. Cab rides to the strip are actually cheaper/faster from the HRH because they take the back streets, you never have to sit in strip traffic.
Oh, P-tr-ck, I STILL need to borrow your German Leg Breaking Machine....Thx.

If you stay at one of those hotels, you will definitely want to take a cab, thats probaly a 20-30 minute walk. Same thing from the MGM to the Venetian; when I was there in december and it was cooler outside, I could walk a little distance. We actually tried to walk to TAO (Venetian) from the MGM, and about 5 minutes into, we gave and took a cab, way too humid, and too much of a hassle....its ussually only a $10-$15 cab ride everywhere anyway.
