Hey guys, me and two frineds are going to be in vegas for 10 nights in october, its our first time. We've booked the mgm grand signature suites but the more i read about i more im getting put off. It sounds like a really nice place but just not what we're looking for, biggest draw backs, its perfect for families and you dont get much of the vegas buzz as its sits off the main strip. What would you guys reccomend, we just really want somewhere with a good buzz, good party crowd

How old are you? What kind of partying? Like you have lots of money, style and class partying? Or, I want to sit in a smoke filled bar and hang with some unsavory local women and get wasted on Bud Lights? (Excalibur might be good for this...lol).
10 days? Jeez......I can barely take 3 nights and even then I am curled up in the fetal position for a day when I get home and another 2 days of being lethargic.
My favorites for what you are describing:

TI (connects by tram to the Mirage)

Mirage (now that they remodeled it)
On the upper end of the scale:

On the lower end of the scale:

I would personally stay away from these......just my opinion, others may be different:

We're all 26, I would say we're willing to push the boat out a bit in terms of budget. By party i mean going to the cool bars and clubs pretty much most nights, and during the day just chilling at the pool. We're coming from scotland so we thought we need to justify the cost and effort of the flights so 10 days should make it worth it plus 10 days is the most our girlfriends could take(allow), I think the most important thing for us is location and buzz, any suggestions?Comment

Mirage is a good party place for a reasonable price.
I've heard enough recs for HRH and Palms as party hotels, but I'm big on being on the strip and getting that feeling of just walking out of the hotel and being ON the strip, but that may just be me.Comment

most of the buzz is towards the north end of the strip now. specifically venetian/wynn towers so if you can afford it, i'd book rooms at either of the 4 towers cause that's where all the action in term of hottest nightclubs, best pools and what not. that's my opinion.2013 Calendar: March 20-21 (Treasure Island). My $.02 is if you don't mind being off strip, stay at HRH or Palms - They have the young crazy party people staying at the Hotel. If you want on the strip with a similar atmosphere, go for PH (this will keep you a bit closer to most popular venues)-WarreN aka "The Business"

the mgm sig suites are real nice, but...
1. You'll be walking a bit just to get to the MGM Casino.
2. The MGM Casino isn't that great, there are better party vibe casinos.
3. Their pools are ok, but its a more mixed crowd.
I'd go with:
On the strip:
1. Planet Hollywood.
Off strip (which is not as bad as you think really):
1. Hard Rock Hotel
2. Palms
My first choice with your criteria would be Hard Rock. Their vibe is very party-like, their pool is huge and always feels lively. Their casino is fun and the center bar is always busy with people no matter what time of day.Comment

I stayed once at the MGM Signature. Just personally for me, I would never stay there again. Like your concerns, it sits off the strip. You basically have to walk your ass or cab it to get anywhere remotely fun. You aren't even that close to MGM Grand even though they are connected.
After a few stays on the North Strip, I have decided I would settle for nothing else other than Wynn/Encore or Venetian/Palazzo. It's near all the hottest clubs/pools.
If you can afford it I think you'll enjoy your time the most on North Strip. I would take Trump over MGM Signature if you want to be in the mix too. It is slightly off the strip but still "in the area."Comment

also, if you do a search on the internet you can get a discount sometimes for staying 5+ days...I'm staying at PH for 5 nights and we got 25 percent off or something...i think i googled "promotional codes for vegas" or something to that effect and one website listed all the codes you can use when booking rooms.Originally posted by shaz1410 View PostComment

I have stayed at the Signature Suites and it was one of the nicest hotel rooms I've ever stayed in and it is by far the best value for your money on the strip; but ITS THE FURTHEST THING FROM A PARTY HOTEL! It's a quite clean relaxed environment with a late 30s-40+ year old crowd. The closet "party" environment would be the 10 minute walk on through the hotel hallways to the MGM Grand....I would recommend the Palms or if you dont mind staying "off the strip"

If stayed both on and off the strip and for a party-hotel I can def. recommend the Palms / Palms Place.
But geez 10 days of Vegas would kill me. I suggest you make some tours, maybe Grand Canyon or smth.Comment
