  • Cell Phone connoisseurs get in here!

So I did a search and I didn't see any cell phone threads...sooooooooo I'm making one.

I happen to go out to the river yesterday along with my newly favorite cheap concoction of UV Blue and Lemonade/Mountain Dew Baja Blast and proceeded to get very buzzed in less than an hour. So buzzed in fact, that I walked into the river with my Blackberry and a half a pack of cigs in my swim trunks...wah wah wah.

Anyway, I need a new phone. My carrier is Verizon and I'm considering the Droid X...seeing as it came out today, what a coincidence eh?

What do you guys think? Best phone out right now? Or should I hold off and use my work blackberry and wait for something else.

The Samsung Fascinate for Verizon will be the best phone they will offer in my opinion. In the last several years Motorola's products have been crap. I think the specs on the Droid are good but having recently bought one of their other phones for the AT&T network, the phone crapped out after 2 weeks. Other Motorola product I have had recently have all failed as well, to the point where I will NEVER purchase another Motorola product again.

Also, just came across this article:

Part of OWNING a cell phone is to have it do what YOU want. This is one of the benefits of using the Android operating system.

What do you call that drink?

Idk much about phones and I don't even know if I'm using the correct terminology, but based on my experience with cell phones, I wouldn't want to get a new phone until it's been around awhile with different 'generations'.. Cause I think with each newer 'generation' of it, the risk of technical issues declines. Let other people be the guinea pigs..

      Stick with the blackberry!

The "best" phone is the one that does exactly what you need/want it to do for the cheapest possible upfront price and lowest monthly cost.

However, for a lot of people nowadays their cell phone is used more for a fashion accessorry/toy/status symbol than an actual communications device.

In that case, just ask girls which one they think looks most expensive, and get that one.

Hmmmm....wish I could have checked this thread before lunch...

I bought the Droid X on my lunch break :/ Guess we'll see how it goes and I may have to return it.

The droid x looks pretty damn serious. Plus the fact that Android is above and beyond the OS that the BB currently has. BB is outdated, it's OS needs a major overhaul in order to keep up with what Apple and Google are doing (in terms of software). You'll be happy with the Droid X.

True but nothing beats a BB IM!

That's the only thing I like about the bb, bbm. But its not enough to hold me over. Both Apple and Google offer IM apps for their os that come close. It's a trade off, but well worth it in my opinion. BBM is great, the best messenger program for a phone, but the pluses for switching to a superior operating system are worth it.

i say stay with the Droid X. My friend just got the Evo 4g for sprint which is very identical to the Droid X and he's in love with it. If your paying for a unlimited data plan then mind as well use something that lets you load full websites with good user interface...

Unless you see blackberry as a more useful tool and find that Droid X isn't capable to do things that the blackberry can.

DEFINITELY keep that Droid X, Warren! That piece of machinery's one of the best phones on the market [I know, I know, today's only the first day]. Great display, HD recording & HDMI output, best phone OS' out there in Android, and the top carrier with Verizon. Plus? Once Android 2.2 hits, you'll be able to browse flash-enabled sites [which means being able to view tons of multimedia sites from your phone]
