  • ****Large Group of Guys vs Memorial Day Weekend?

8 of us total (all males) are coming to Vegas for Memorial Day weekend and we hear that it will be absolutely ridiculous in terms of getting into the best nightclubs/pool parties. We want to get the honest scoop on how to best beat the odds.

We used a contact off of this website in order to try to book a table at a popular club, figuring that it would be our only chance of getting in. The guy we talked to stated that he had us set for our table that weekend. However, he wouldn't give us any prices save for the starting price of bottles. We don't even know how many bottles our party would have to purchase. He just told us to get in contact with him later on. So, basically, we have no idea how much we will have to pay.

Now, after talking with various other individuals, most stated that the reason that he was doing this was because the club was purposely overbooking the tables, and was going to determine the prices later based on demand. This seems like it would start a bidding war that would jack up the prices to an exorbitant level. I was told that my group would have trouble even getting to the front of the VIP Table Line to talk to a host, much less getting the actual table. So, essentially, it seems like even though my group has a "reservation," the table is anything but guaranteed.

In fact, I was told that there would most likely be 100s of groups outside bidding for dozens of tables (come on...really?). Now, this wouldn't be actual bidding per se - I was told it would be more like struggling to get the host's attention for like 30 minutes, and then having them say they'll get back to you, creating a ridiculous amount of confusion amongst a bunched of people eager to get in the club who thought they had tables. Essentially, the tables would go out to the people willing to pay the most, and not the people who had "reservations." In addition, I was told that if the bouncers didn't like the way you looked, it would be a wrap. So, basically, you could be outside for hours trying to get a table that you thought was reserved. Will it really be that bad? I'm wondering what to do, because this very site says that you have a chance to book a table on a Holiday Weekend if you call 3 weeks in advance. I initiated contact well over 3 weeks in advance. However, it seems as if our table is anything but booked.

All of this seems ridiculous, but I hear that it's accurate because it will be Memorial Day Weekend, and things will be crazy.

What are our (8 guys) chances of actually getting this "reserved" table at this top club on memorial day weekend? And if we do somehow manage to get it, how much should we expect to pay? Would going with a 3rd party VIP hosting company be our best bet? In addition, is getting a table even necessary? What are our chances of getting in via general admission? After spending so much time anticipating this trip, we do not want to end up outside wandering around. Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated.

YEP.. All of this seems ridiculous, but that accurate because it will be Memorial Day Weekend (the busiest weekend of the year for vegas) and things will be crazy. P.M. me for more info on this but in vegas we usally work a week at a time so the week of MDW we should have more info/ numbers.

this is what I would do, i would have each guy throw in $450 for the night which will give you $3600, then I would get in touch with as many hosts on this board as possible and tell them you have 8 guys, you dont want to deal with any horseshit with waiting around at any point and offer up front to buy 5 bottles which will come to $2375 before mixers, taxes and gratuity which will bring the total to about $3200 after you add it all up, which will leave $400 for tip to vip host and miscellaneous expenses.....i think if you tell them you will guarantee 5 bottles they will set it up for you and then get the hosts cell # tell him/her that when you arrive at the hotel where the club is you will call them and meet them at an exact point. now its memorial day weekend it sounds like alot of dough for each guy for one night, but its a holiday and your in las vegas just drop the money and have fun....as for the pool parties: where are you staying? I would honestly just hang out at your own hotel pool cause you can have just as much fun there without any headaches and having to drop a gazillion dollars.
it's that time again, let's get #28 gentleman....for the boss

I'm in the same situation - 8 guys, Memorial Day weekend, some willing to throw down more money than others. I was quoted $595 (before tip) for Grey Goose at one of the top clubs so NYC may have under-estimated a little.

Here is what I sent to some of my friends a while back to try and give them a realistic expectation:

        Goose 595 x 3 = 1785
        Redbull 6 = 25
        Taxes (8% approx) = 145
        Waitress tip (20% on $1810) = 362
        VIP Host Tip = 200

Total of $2517 (for 3 bottles)

        6 people = $420
        7 people = $360
        8 people = $315
        9 people = $280

No offense to the 3rd party hosts but I don't feel comfortable working with a 3rd party, I'd rather work with someone directly at the club. Like NYC said all you can do is show up early, talk with the VIP Host ahead of time (a week before, day before, day of, etc). Staying in touch with him will build that "relationship" so he won't forget you. You also may want to discuss with him what you'll be tipping or what he expects.

This has always worked for me in the past, but its been 4 years since I've been on Memorial Day weekend so I'm expecting it to be very crowded.

As far as pool parties we are staying at Palazzo but we bought tickets for the Palms pool party on Friday and Sunday. The tickets were $28.25 each on wanttickets.com (this is the site the Palms sends you to so its legit).
